The National Rifle Association has been expanding its reach from guns to just about everything else -- finance, health reform, credit cards. . . It doesn't hurt that the group has millions upon millions to spend on influencing a truly long list of bills.

Since Jan. 2010 most if not all Bills concerning the NRA have PASSED in Congress on the so called "BIPARTISAN SUPPORT".
If the Senate wants to pass the Unemployment Insurance Extension Bill, they should contact the NRA and ask for help. Every Republican and that Excuse for a Democrat Ben Nelson,(D-NB) would be stepping on Senators heads to vote YES, for the Bill.
The United States isn't a Government "By the People, and For the People". The Congress is OWN by the NRA, BIG OIL, and WALL STREET.
The US Congress is a DISGRACE to this Country.
Randi Rhodes had a segment on partisanship and reality. It's conclusion was, and I embellish, that people in the tea party, aka the GOP, are so wedded to their beliefs, they become like members of a cult. No matter how much proof you offer to show them that, no, your parents are not out to kill you and prophet is a liar, the more they become convinced you are part of the plot.
The psychological term is backfire: to avoid cognitive dissidence certain types of people reject facts that disprove a belief, and the belief becomes even stronger. Karl Rove referred to this backfire, as "not living in the reality based community". It is a primary strategy of governance for the GOP. It is anti-democratic, and deceitful.
Around 1:30 am on the Fourth of July, 2010 police said an 80-year-old man living on the 900 block of Hastings Ave was surprised by a man wielding a shovel.
