At the BP claims center in Gretna, Louisiana, July 17.
How often do you get the chance to help a Pulitzer Prize winning news org and be part of telling the truth about an environmental felon like BP? The investigative nonprofitPro Publica wants your help in figuring out how well BP is doing in paying financial claims from its Deepwater Horizon Disaster.
BP's data show that it has returned more than half of submitted claims because they "lack enough information for BP to make a payment." In most of those cases, it has told people that they have to provide more documentation to prove that their claim is legitimate.
Most of us won't have filed a claim, of course. But we might know someone who has. And we might know someone who knows someone.
Here's how you can help. If you've filed a claim yourself, let Pro Publica know. If you haven't, pass this story around. For this kind of reporting to work -- for a true and accurate picture to emerge -- as many people as possible need to know about the project.
We'll keep you posted as the data rolls in.

Nothing news worthy here. Corporations stealing from the little people, buying off congressmen and making sure things stay that way. It's been like this for so long I forgot what ethical business practices and honest government was all about...
they have something going in prudo bay, alaska. i am an unemploied industrial electrician and saw a job post for bp a couple of weeks ago, they are a little to dangerous for me. ;)
I'm in. I should be able to find some people who have filed claims. An organization I volunteer for helps in collecting/cleaning/rehabilitating the wildlife from the spill. I believe they have help from fishermen. We have a big conference, and tour of the spill site coming up Aug 7 & 8, I'll pass the word there, and on-line. Hadn't heard about the Pro Publica project, thanks.
pens...collecting/cleaning/rehabilitating the wildlife from the spill is such a "real" contribution. Kudos and awesome work...
This however, sounds like a family trying to keep their property and get a modification for their foreclosing loan in CA. Every bank says that it's easy, do it yourself and beware of those who would charge. This process is so difficult, time consuming and ExTREmeLY tedious with absolute accuracy being a must or be denied....process...I'm sure BP rolls just like that...and gee...the banks all suck, we learned that right?
I am cynical on this myself.
I Think it Will be a Very Good News Report! CBS Evening News Covered this Briefly, a Few Times, and I Believe that the ( BP Claims Office ) Slammed the Door Right in Katie Courics Face! These are Rude & Nasty People, that Will Skunk Anyone they Can!
I think it Would be a Good Idea to Somehow, Find Out What Local Businesses Have Blogs or Facebook Accounts. Lots of Local Businesses Do. By Blogging or Posting Comments on the (Local Accounts) Right in Grand Isles, Louisiana, the Word will Get Around! This Would be Better than Twitter, because Unless they Re-Tweet This, People Will Not See This!
I Just happened to Come Across this, when Googling, They May Have a Facebook Account?? Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana located at the Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Veterinary Medicine. It Said that they are Leading the Volunteering Efforts in Helping the Wildlife in Louisiana
