The House yesterday voted down a measure to provide $7.4 billion in health care for 9-11 responders made ill by their work.
It's an outrage, and Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) stood up and got outraged about it:
"It's Republicans wrapping their arms around Republicans, rather than doing the right thing on behalf of the heroes! It is a shame, a shame!
The bill needed a two-thirds majority to pass. Check out the very party-line roll call.

We're gearing up for a Weiner/Grayson vs. Boehner/Cantor tag-team Congressional Cage Match.
Weiner/Grayson 2016? We could so easily do worse.
Needs to be a First Blood match!
Even those I don't live in NY, I called his office and say to tell him that I LOVE ANTHONY WEINER and to keep up the good work. Now we need the media to step up on these ethics slams - point out how many repubs are ethically challenged - Ensigns, Vitter, Delay, Craig, Gingrich. And the nerve of this hypocrites hitting Rep Waters about $16 million tarp when Paulson, AGI, Citi, and Goldman Sachs tolk trillions.
First Blood Dave? The republicans only have ice water in their veins.
Don Q....that would be interesting. These 2 guys seem to have Americans at heart and not the rich or corporations.
Like I said, we could do far worse so easily.
I love him..Thank god someone gets it in Congress
Oh my God! A Democrat with some guts taking on the Republicans on a winning issue! I must be dreaming.
Do you think the rest of the party will back him up and make sure its on the news every day?
Wouldn't it be cool if they did?
I was told that he got really pissed when members on the right were laughing at him...maybe one day we will see a Japanese style debate in our house and we can forget the Senate....they're to good to break a sweat.
wow. there's anthony weiner, alan grayson and al franken. kind of makes you want to fight for this democracy don't it?
we have trillions for defense contractors, war, and tax cuts for the rich, that all don't have to be paid for... but when it comes to the little guy being squashed like a bug... well that's "income redistribution".
how much do you love this guy?
Love Love Love....................I love this guy! Can all dems grow a pair like his? even us gals, dammit!
Call Rep Wiener's office and tell him you love what he did - even if you aren't from his state. I wish he were my rep instead of the republican worm we have.
Don't forget Barney Frank! Please!
thanks laura. lmao! i've watched this like 5 times in a row. "the gentleman is correct in sitting". hahahahaha
YES!!! I heard that and said "Did I just hear him right?!" and bust out laughing!!!
I find it interesting how Weiner didn't interrupt that Republican while he spoke however they go off and interrupt him while he's preaching! First Wilson now this guy.
Man they sincerely lack manners.
This is utterly fantastic. Nicely done Sir.
I miss Rachel... when will she be back?
LOVE it. Go, dude, go!
More Dem's should grow spines like weiner.
I agree. good for him. and even though they may scratch his comments from the record, they aren't "scratched form people's minds."
He's done this before...he's no wiener! Luv this guy...can we have him run...replace Biden or against Obama *sorry)?
Or better yet speaker of the house.
I can't watch it at work, but I say woohoo Anthony. I knew I loved him from the health reform times on Rachel.
Truly amazing! We need more like him in the party.
I love this guy.
Anthony Weiner actually cares and his passion is pouring from every cell. I'm in awe of greatness.
My congressman sucks, I'm looking at you Bill Foster. I want a Wiener representing me!
...and Larry Kissell!
Peter King and Anthony went at it this morning on Fox. King looks like a whiny little kid trying to say he didn't knock over the lamp and he's an only child lol.

LMAO!!! Perfect analogy!!!!
Weiner: my favourite member of the House of Representatives.
Looks like Weiner has another soundbite. He should teach his other teammates how to fight back!
Talk about a FIGHTER. I love Rep "KICK ASS" Weiner!
How about Grayson...could you imagine a ticket with them on it?
Anthony Weiner. You look at this video, and you realize, without a doubt, that he is one of the good guys, and that is really comforting. You look at all the good things the Republicans have said "No" to, and you realize, without a doubt, that ANY Democrat in office is better than a Republican.
So, it's ok to use 9-11 endlessly in political ads to frighten and anger voters in the repub worldview, but it is just too costly or ideologically wrong to help those who gave their health and their lives to clean up the destruction? The fodder for campaign ads to defeat these heartless bastards just grows by leaps and bounds every day.
Exactly. Republican neocons use 9/11 propaganda purposes, but anything that might involve some investigation of all the government lies that went on around 9/11 when they were in power is avoided like the plague. Unfortunately, the Obama administration is going along with the cover-up - so far.
Great stand by Anthony Weiner, one of the few real Democrats in Congress! Maybe Obama can grow a pair too - I haven't entirely given up hope.
What kind of sick hypocrites are these Senate Republicans?! My god, nobody in their right mind would think of the cast of the “Jersey Shore” as a model of what America stands for, but if the republican senators are any example of what the US stands for nowadays, it would be less shameful to have those kids as role models.
No to healthcare for 9/11 workers, but they can _with a straight face— turn around and claim they are the hawks who réally support the troops? How about explaining to the heroes on the frontline of the war on terror on that terrible day, that the senators’ commitment is only to the troops that went overseas? And how about explaining a soldier giving his life overseas that when he enlisted in honor of the ones who had so viciously been murdered, that his first responder family member who got ill from that day just won’t get the healthcare he or she needs, because the republicans are afraid they might feel entitled? Forget Al Qaeda, with representatives like these, who needs enemies?
As gruesome as that day and the days following this massacre were, to add insult to national injury the survivors and the first responders to this cowardly attack are now slapped in the face by an enemy within. The United States Senate republicans. For all the indignation on the far right when it comes to the “America I know” I’ll be waiting to see them stand up to this kind of outrageous behavior from the truly "Evil Government". Here’s hoping.
By the way, I heard the partial justification that rural America just is not that much in tune with the pain and grief of that day. I beg to differ! I’m Belgian, have never been to the States and even I can relate to the pain of that day and the need 9(!) years later to stand up for the still suffering victims of these terrorists. After all, if the US asks its brave men and women to be all they can be in the line of fire, shouldn’t republican senators be asked the same at the very least?
How in the world did our legislative process get so screwed up? Two-thirds now equals the majority? What's up with that? And how do we get it changed? No wonder nothing gets accomplished. We've this insanity to deal with.
We need to elect more Democrats like Weiner, Grayson, Franken. They are the future of the party, they have guts and have no problem fighting for what's right. The rest of the party needs to learn from them and fight with them. Hopefully we can bring in somebody in 2016 with that kind of fight in them...I was hoping we did in 2008, and now I'm not so sure.
We loved Obama because he was eminently civilized. He was smart. Maybe it turns out that what we need are candidates who are our kind of crazy with 20 lb brass balls. I nominate Weiner and Greyson, Barney Frank speaker of the House. How's that?
Awesome! America needs more principled people like Mr. Weiner.
I think it's cool that a guy named Weiner has a pair...well done...good to see some passion...
