Before becoming a full-time candidate, Christine O'Donnell crusaded as a religious right activist, including a national tour proclaiming that homosexuality was curable. Living then in Los Angeles, O'Donnell hired a young spokesman for her organization, The Savior's Alliance for Lifting the Truth (SALT).
That young spokesman, Wade Richards, had supposedly been cured of his homosexuality through a sort of evangelical boot camp. Soon after touring the country with O'Donnell, he came (back) out of the closet.
Richards says that Christine O'Donnell has refused any further contact with him. "Even up until this day, she's never returned any of my messages," Richards says.
He says he's being bombarded with interview requests and that he doesn't intend to do any -- but he's put out this YouTube statement about his experience with O'Donnell.

Furthermore, there was an entire section of SALT's website devoted to Wade's "remarkable story" of becoming an "ex" homosexual, which was entitled: "Wade's Story of Freedom from Homosexuality" - this section no longer exists, but it was listed as having been dated back in 2000 according to the information I was able to glean from the 'net.

Well, actually, they're the same name, O'Donnell and O'Donald. Just slightly different spelling and slightly different pronunciation. And actually, you could pronounce O'Donald without the final d, so what's wrong with that other way around? Both are English bastardizations of the Irish Gaelic name Ó Donaill (Ò Domhnaill in Scottish Gaelic). If you know that, it would seem such nitpicking really doesn't matter that much.

I question how well he knows her since he calls her Christine O'Donald several times. Has this story been fact checked? Oh, and BTW, whatever name one calls her, she is shameful and not someone who I would want representing me.
Well, as long as this has been going on, she'd have made a comment to distance herself from him, saying he's lying or some such by now. You can't make these kinds of waves without evidence that you worked with/for people like this.

Just curious if you guys have verified Richards's credibility? As wactivist points out, he doesn't even seem to realize that O'Donnell's name is not O'Donald. And he's obviously very interested in getting his political views across. I'm no fan of O'Donnell, but there could be any number of reasons she didn't return Richards's calls...

CO'D claims to be catholic. I'd be curious to know if she agrees with the Church's stand on indirect abortion. I could be wrong but her evangelical view on the matter may put her at odds with many RC voters.

I think the reason her relationships fail is because she is A) a cold fish and B) has actually stated that what she is looking for in a man is someone whom her children can look upon and see Christ. (No, I didn't make that up.)

Somewhere on an earlier thread, I recall reading that when Ms. O'Donnell was a youth, she did have "sexual relations" with men and felt badly about it afterwards. I'm not sure what to make of that, though, since she seems to be so abstinence happy now.

I think open gays in the military would be great, that would mean that they cannot separate the straight, men and women either. Men would be able to shower with women and they could check each other out, just like the gays can. One cannot discriminate if I have to be forced to live in close quarters with someone that may be sexually attracted to me I had better have an option for a woman. The squad bay showers would be quite an event.
Had an experience once while living in Saudi, we had two room apartments. Did not know that my roommate was gay, thought nothing of walking around the apartment in jogging shorts. Then my roommate got lonely, geez, what a mess, it was bad enough living there without worrying about someone who could not control themselves.

Yes, it's been removed...and I'm curious as to why as well. It had nothing to do with credibility, and what comments I saw on it were very positive, but YouTube being YouTube, it is possible that the detriment of human existence that we know to be YouTube commenters descended upon the video after I had viewed it...or he's simply creating a better one without so many cutaways. (One can hope.)

I didn't know "curing gays" was a function of congress. If she is running for congress to cure gays, she is running for the wrong office...maybe a therapist job or a clergyperson would be more appropo?
Besides, I really want my Senator to pay attention more and work on issues that are more important ummmmm, like jobs, war, deficits, budgets, social security, etc. Not whom my neighbor sleeps with or marries.
