We asked for signs of politicians actively running pro-choice campaigns, and you delivered.
Michigan Democrat Virg Bernero, candidate for governor, backs abortion rights. He stashes his statement about being a "strong supporter of women's reproductive rights" under Equality/Women's Rights, while the Michigan Democratic Party pushes the issue right out front in the campaign ad above.
"For Bernero, this issue is personal -- too personal for government to have a say," the ad tells us. The local press says it's an attempt to woo women voters, but it could also appeal to the small-government crowd. Not that they're listening, or in favor of small government.

After the jump, "Taliban Dan Webster" from Rep. Alan Grayson.
You can give yourself a ping-pong headache factchecking this ad from Grayson, a Florida Democrat. The sourcing on the abortion part is solid, back to Nov. 17, 1996, in the St. Petersburg Times -- which wrote, "Webster, who says he opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest, acknowledges his religion guides his politics" -- and confirmed again by Factcheck.org (which deplores the ad, FWTW).

".....this issue is personal -- too personal for government to have a say."
IMO - That has to be the best tag-line concerning Women's reproductive rights - to come out of this whole sorry political season thus far.
Believe it or not they are not the only Dems actually calling out the right on their abortion views. Take a look at Michael Bennet from Colorado calling out Ken Buck. Love it!
has anybody here ever realized the only people for abortion were born!
hmm... not pro-choice... anything but is Dr Ronald Graeser who is running for Constitution Party of Michigan. He advocates the killing of an abortion doctor.
article from Michigan Messenger
http://michiganmessenger.com/41233/anti-abortion-extremist-runs-to-replace-hoekstra
With the Republican and Democratic candidates already decided by the party primaries earlier this month, a third party — the U.S. Taxpayers Party of Michigan — has announced its list of candidates for various offices in the state. Among them is a physician from Fremont who advocates the killing of abortion doctors.
Dr. Ronald Graeser has run for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 2nd District before under the auspices of the USTPM, the state affiliate of the openly theocratic Constitution Party.
Though he has no website up for his current run, the website he had up on the Constitution Party site for his last run remains available. On that page he takes a staunch position against abortion but does not mention that his real position is far more extreme than merely being opposed to abortion.
After Paul Hill killed abortion provider John Britton and his bodyguard in Pensacola, Florida, Graeser signed a letter from the Army of God — a group considered a domestic terrorist organization by the FBI — defending Hill and declaring his actions legitimate and just.
That letter says, in part:
Hill was convicted and put to death. Eric Robert Rudolph, who bombed the Olympic park in Atlanta along with several abortion clinics and a gay bar, was also involved with the Army of God.

found this rather bitter article from Debbie Schlussel about a candidate, Lois Shulman, who seems to have changed her position on abortion.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a working site for Lois Shulman.
