"The reason I say this is a tragedy is because his announcement of economic recovery was more of a potpourri of sound bytes. It's like he took a little bit of what each party wanted and put it together. It's not a solid plan constructed on sound economic principles."
That's Christine O'Donnell, speaking to the Northern Virginia Tea Party last night on the subject of "Celebrating Our Progress." Ms. O'Donnell later told reporters that it's not unemployment benefits, per se, that are the tragedy -- only that they were extended without cuts in spending somewhere. On the nature of the compromise alone, the Tea Party Republican sounds a lot like any number of progressives.
Meanwhile, Ms. O'Donnell continues becoming Sarah Palin. She's forming an "issues-oriented" political action committee to be named Christine PAC. Hey, it's working for Palin.

There's one born every mintue!
...and (to complete the pt barnum quote) somebody to sell something to 'em!
Dear Mr. President;
When a large proportion of the Opposition is praising your 'Compromise', including the 'Extreme Fringe', and a large proportion of your own people are condemning it, maybe you went too far, in your 'Compromise'.
Also, speaking for myself only, if I am ever taken hostage by terrorists, please Do NOT negotiate for my life; I would prefer death, than to be alive because terrorists got concessions. Concession only encourage more hostage-taking, endangering more people in the future.
With all due respect,

Why are we still paying any attention to O'Donnell? She was cluless on MTV and certainly hasn't gotten any better informed since then. Watching her try and craft herself into the Palinesque/Beckian mold requires aspirin at a minimum.
"A potpourri of sound bytes?!?"
First, what is she? French? Only traitors use words like "potpourri." Here, in America, it's called "Fragrant Freedom Mix." Know the rules. Get it right!
Second, if any of you were sitting here beside me (in a purely platonic sense), you would have noticed two things after reading O'Donnell's utterance: 1) a soft but sharp cracking sound, and 2) Me desperately trying to wipe my brains up from the keyboard after my head exploded.

I'm sorry but did something happen this week at Pearl Harbor? *eyeroll*
Yes. Tragedy struck Pearl Harbor as millions of people suddenly remembered that Pearl Harbor was attacked 70 years ago.
The combined remembrance forced the stoppage of the construction of a Benihana's on that hallowed ground.
What a classless bitch. Elizabeth had only passed away hours prior and she uses her death to spew her own stupidity. What an idiot.
Like Palin she lacks any intellectual curiosity... her constituents: Contemporary Cultural Barbarians..
“In most of her pictures she has a kid nearby…she doesn’t have any…nothing wrong with that just saying’
My post yesterday in the Huffington Post confirmed again…
Oh and she is just spouting more platitude BS
Just in case someone takes a shot at her, she'll always have a human shield ready. You notice they are always small enough that she can pick them up if she has too. Makes sense if she thinks there are people skulking in the bushes near her home.
Very astute
Ummm...I hope this post doesn't mean she will will be discussed yet again tonight. Urghhhh.
I'm torn because I want Christine O'Donnell to just disappear as a public figure...but the other half of me can't wait to see what this PAC ends up representing. She's such a nutcase and nutcases make for good TV! Of course, this only works when she's the only one not cued into the fact we all think she's a kook. Nobody takes her seriously, so she's fun to watch. Sarah Palin, though, has a base that believes the nonsense she's spewing, so that's less fun...more scary, actually!
Holy cow, that quote was so dumb O'Donnell sounds like one of Jay Leno's Jaywalk All-Stars. As a resident of Northern Virginia, I'm ashamed that so many people that I share local roads and libraries with could take such talk seriously and actually clap for her.
There's probably a way of looking at this that doesn't make it seem so bad, right?

How on earth is extending unemployment benefits a tragedy, comparable to the untimely death of a wonderful, brave lady? And if her answer is "because it adds to the deficit" I am going to scream.
As my dear old dad used to say, "she's not worth the powder to blow her up".
Love that expression - so fitting:)
I LOVE your Dad's wit !
Too damn funny...gotta borrow that one. I also like "you can slap a prom dress on a Hyena and take 'er to the dance...at the end of the night you're still stuck with a Hyena"...guess that's not fair to Hyenas.
But really the question at the end of the night is, does the Hyena put out. if it does then its not nearly as much of a waste of a prom. Assuming its all consenual of course. Heeheehee haha means "No!"
I thought she lost the election! I am I missing something?
Justsan
Still stunned anyone puts a microphone in front of that woman.
OMG Christine O'Donnell was totally right about something! This ISN'T a plan "constructed on sound economic principles." We shouldn't have extended the tax cuts above the $250K mark (I'd have compromised to $500K even, or $1M... but GEEZ. anyway.)
i probably wouldn't have mind(ed?) seeing them lower -- like 100,000 -- but yeah, i could've got as high as half a mil.
um... has anybody told her that Pearl Harbor occurred 69 years ago? should anybody bother trying to?
so the Obama tax cuts are a good tragedy? *facepalm*
Like Palin, she'll get what she wants most....lots of money from lots of idiots.
Oh, it's not that bad. All she had to do to clear this up was re-define tragedy...duh! Explaining yourself is soooo 2010. Why do that when you can just give new definitions to words already defined by Webster?! There's even a new definition for earmark (Michelle Bachman), so I guess everyone should have a turn.....
