When a BP hydrogeologist looked at the nightmare of the Deepwater Horizon spill -- that's his voice in the clip -- he saw an event that the Gulf of Mexico would easily recover from. The new House Science and Technology Committee chair, Rep. Ralph Hall (R-Texas) looked past the nightmare entirely, to a vision of the Earth's bounty:
As we saw that thing bubbling out, blossoming out -- all that energy, every minute of every hour of every day of every week -- that was tremendous to me. That we could deliver that kind of energy out there -- even on an explosion.
Hey, it wasn't a disaster! It was oil exploration! And my goodness, there's a lot down there.
Wonkroom/Grist report that the oil state politician has, of course, gotten some oil money -- including some from BP.

not anymore! a huge amount is now up here, over here, over there, amid that marshgrass, mixed in with that dune, inside that shrimp... [i realize that's Laura paraphrasing Hall, but i'm answering with that in mind]
oh, and maybe somebody remind Hall that 11 men died as a result, tho i'm sure he doesn't mind; it's not like any of them were in his tax bracket.
Obama's lack of response and the whole local state and federal body rolling over at BP's request...that was a profoundly sickening moment in American history. Barton's whimpering apology to BP no less so. When he moves in to his new office, I'm talking about Barton here, we need to remind him that we know precisely who's bytch he is and not to even pretend otherwise. As for Obama...I sure expected better.
I think Mr Hall (R-Texaco) may have been projecting and fantasizing more than little about his sexual potency with that remark. But sometimes a gusher is just a gusher.
Are you saying that he had recorded it for his own personal use whenever he would...find himself alone with his thoughts? Nasty!
Seems the Rep(tile) from Tx has different types of wet dreams. To each his own.
