Back when we announced the TRMS iPad app a lot of people asked about an Android app. While we don't have an app exactly yet, but we do have a process that makes TRMS clips playable on mobile devices including Android. If you go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ on your phone you should be able to play the most recent set of show clips. You may recognize that's the link that Rachel.msnbc.com resolves to. For some reason the Android phone I'm working with can't handle the URL redirect, but when I go directly to page I'm able to watch the clips over my regular phone data connection.
Again, this isn't an app, so there's no special download. The page can tell when you're vising with a phone and it gives you the HTML5 version of the clips. This means should also work for iPhones and other smart phones. I'd still like to have a more formal app for Android users like we have for the iPhone, but this is a pretty good interim solution.

For whatever reason the subdomain redirects for several of the mobile site show fronts don't always work, even on my iPod Touch. If it helps people, for ease of memory and parsimoniousness of typing on touchscreen keypads, the mobile-phone version of http://msnbc.com has a working link to the Maddow mobile show page/video player, as well as all the others. It's just all. the. way. at. the. bottom. So have your scroll finger ready. :)
Thanks Josh, yeah the link is buried pretty deep. Folks'll want to bookmark it once they find it.
Don't like the iPad app, went back to watching in a browser.

Hey Will,
Just for your statistical view of the world: Who is watching and wear. I live in Germany, originally from Philly, and damn if I wasn't elated to see I could watch the show on msnbc.com.
And then, last week, as I am happy to try using my android-based Pandigital for reading anything, I decided to do just as your instructed here. And, voilà, there you were with your preview and all the clips from the show.
Now I get the ease of watching you and Ms. Maddown on the tablet propped up next to the sink while I wash dishes.
Does life's news get any better than this? Tee hee!

Uh...didn't anyone tell you that "Rachel Maddow" is on the four "peacock feather" on the twelve-feather clock that IS the msnbc Android app?

Hi Will, thanks for this.
What I'd really appreciate is a way to download the podcast from my Android phone (using WiFi). I used to be able to do this, but for some reason when I visit the normal podcast page, it doesn't load properly. Is it possible to make the podcast link more accessible? Thanks
could it be that the page is an .XML?
very basic solution: include a link to the podcast .m4v file in the "Links for the [date] TRMS" entry? #shrug
geez, Will, what're you doing up at 3:30 am worrying about this stuff? :p
Works great on a Verizon Pre+ running webOS 2.1.0
Thanks Will !!

Of course the most effective version for us Android folks is to get a podcast player app (I like podkicker) and load the show podcast info for an automatic daily download. I even use this method (Juice podcast player) on my Windows PC. I just can't stand watching all those Exxon commercials between her segments in the online player!
