Can you believe that using the Rossi E-Cat, one gram of nickel gives 2000 kilowatt hours of energy? That means that a super tanker full of oil (2 million barrels) is equivalent to less than a ton of nickel (approximately 1500 pounds)! Can you imagine the visual of that little amount of nickel on the deck of a super tanker?? Wow. Hope Rachel mentions this new clean and cheap energy technology as her favorite thing in the world:)
This will be my last post on the subject. Using LENR (low energy nuclear reaction that produces gamma rays for heat), the Rossi E-Cat gives the following energy index for nickel (as compared to more familiar energy sources):
Pound of oil 2.4 X 10 to the 7 Pound of coal 1.6 x 10 to the 7 Pound of Uranium 235 3.7 x 10 to the 13 Pound of nickel 7.8 x 10 to the 11
Hard to believe. The Nickel Age is dawning! Rossi is Prometheus!! By the way, nickel is 3% of the mass of the Earth (much much more than any other fuel).
In an interview with ABC following his campaign announcement, Mitt Romney said that he would sign Paul Ryan's Medicare overhaul plan if it crossed his desk. He also said that he would come up with his own strategy for reforming Medicare: "His plan is not the plan I’ll put forward, I have my own plan.... I’ll be putting that out before I debate President Obama."
With that statement, Romney has taken the same stance as Tim Pawlenty. Except for Herman Cain's full embrace of the Ryan plan, it is the right-most position on entitlement reform in the field so far.
Didn't Breitbart basically blackmail Weiner on national TV? He basically said he was going to publish the photo if Tony Weiner ever said another bad thing about him.
Seems like blackmail to me. Last time I checked thats a crime. What happens if Brietbart ask him to vote for a bill? If he doesn't vote for the bill then he will publish the picture.
I can't believe Anthony apologized to that slime bag. He's going to publish that photo anyways. Tony can't be that naive to think he's not going to publish it because he apologized.
Have you guys totally missed this story? Haven't heard or seen anything about it. Wow. From the Friday Financial Times, page 4, middle: In order to balance its state budget without cutting important state services, the Conn. legislature and governor are proposing a mix of budget cuts and tax increases. Model for other states? The Fed Gov? How about covering this one?
Re: The U2 concert piece, which featured prerecorded video of astronaut Mark Kelly sending a message to Seattle and to his wife from space.
It's a pity that this heartwarming story suffered from a needless blemish because of Dr. Maddow's apparent cluelessness regarding one of last week's top news stories.
She twice assured us that Mark Kelly was up in the International Space Station "right now". Actually, Kelly and his crew returned from space on June 1, several days prior to the concert, bringing shuttle Endeavour back to Earth for the last time.
Hmmm, you mean Ms. Maddow gets something wrong and no one should be strongly critical but if someone on the Right in the political arena and TRMS makes it a segment on the show! Granted, I believe in being cordial, I don't think CB critique is very strong.
Ms. Maddow also refered to both axis on the chart as the "y" axis when she was explaining the labels on the extremes.
While not the main focus of Paul Revere's ride, he did warn the British that their plan was known and that the colonists were prepared (see documentation from Revere's accounts in comment 12.1 under the Morning Maddow: June 6 post). But Ms. Maddow was completely wrong about the shuttle being at the International Space Station.
josey, she wasn't trying to give a complete history level but generalities. She said bells like one says sounding the alarm...there was no "alarm" sounded yet Paul Revere used that word in his description of what happened.
The bottom line is that the news media (TRMS included) presents it as dumb Sarah Palin thought Paul Revere warned the British that the colonist were coming and that is no where near what she said.
Palin is not a stupid lady. You may disagree with her policies, views, tactics, etc but I know stupid and she is not. That said, neither is she on the Rhodes Scholar level of Ms. Maddow.
The media always omits this "family values" GOPer in their lists of politicians engaged in adulterous and unethical sexual activities in recent years. Perhaps Rachael can issue a correction to her list...
May 18, 2010....WASHINGTON — Representative Mark Souder, a conservative Republican from Indiana, on Tuesday acknowledged carrying an an affair with a staff member and said he would resign his seat in Congress as of Friday.
"I sinned against God, my wife and my family by having a mutual relationship with a part-time member of my staff," Mr. Souder, 59, a lawmaker in his eighth term, said in a statement. "In the poisonous environment of Washington, D.C., any personal failing is seized upon, often twisted, for political gain. I am resigning rather than to put my family through that painful, drawn-out process."
The decision, coming only two weeks after Mr. Souder weathered a difficult primary, reopened the race for the seat, based in Fort Wayne in the northeast part of the state.
1. Enough about Paul Revere. Most halfway intelligent people are aware that Ms Palin is incapable of speaking off the cuff; that she needs a teleprompter, notes written on her palm or someone whispering in her ear. The question before us is: Is this woman qualified to lead a nation? I think the answer is quite clearly.........absolutely NOT.
2. U2 Concert. Whether currently in space or pre-recorded, admit it.....it is awesome to see the words of your music floating around in zero gravity in the confines of the Space Shuttle. You criticize Breitbart for finding fault with everything and then turn around and do it yourself...this is so petty, does it really deserve critique?
3. Romney and Obama are now neck & neck in the polls, what is your take on that? Do you think Romney will be the GOP candidate to watch or Cain? What about Weiner should he resign? Should we start bringing our troops home from Iraq now? There are many more important things to consider.
As a mother of 21 yo daughter,I don't think Rachel should be the media aplogist/enabler for Rep Weiner.Anthony Weiner is unfit to serve in congress because of his lying to cover years of voyeuristic, perverted, compulsive and self destructive "sexting".As for Former Gov Palin, she is a public figure not a declared 2012 candidate, the pompous and punishing media feeding frenzy is distasteful and makes Ms Palin the underdog and the public generally supports the "picked on" underdog.Govt and media should focus on 9.1% unemployment and 15-18% underemployment, bloated fed govt budget, govt debt,$14 trillion fed govt deficit, freezing the debt ceiling, freeing USA from OPEC,immediate withdrawal of 100% USAF and every taxpayer dollar from AFPAK&Iraq, stopping the Obama Libya military incursion, addressing the threat of Israel being served up for invasion by Syria,Egypt...
we must maintain a neutral position, representing the mainstream position as well as disputed versions. I think the addition represents this fairly -- the mainstream position is that Revere's warnings were verbal, but there are differing accounts that the warnings were done with bells, with two sources: WDHD television plus a live interview, with a highly influential US politician relating these facts
A couple things about the creepiness/liability-to-prosecution graph.
1) As is common with graphs, this one was scaled to fit the available data points. But consider the creepiness factor of sex with blood relatives. Or the prosecutions that include beheading. What I mean is that if you added in European royal figures from their heydays in centuries gone by (I'm looking at you, Henry VIII and Peter the Great,) all the examples you used last night would have been bunched up in the lower left corner. So huzzah for the relatively mild nature of our politicians' scandals.
2) Creepyness/ickiness might work better if you split that stuff into two axes. One axis would be for Forced Creepiness, where the person is using power over others to get off, and the other would be for, um ... Freestyle Creepiness? I mean stuff that's among consenting adults.
Between Greece and Turkey??
Looking for a new wife?

Thanks for the h/t Will. You made my night.
One correction from tonight: Kelly, in the message to Giffords from the ISS, has been on the ground since last week. That was prerecorded.
Please inform Rachel Maddow that Romney said he would sign the RYAN PLAN

Sinse when is something people pay for an "entittlement?"
When YOUR taxes pay for YOUR social security and YOUR MEDICARE.. YOUR tax money helps pay for YOUR social security and medicare.

What is a bubblegum code? That's what it said and I just hit submit again. It said email newsvine and tell them the error code was bubblegum?
You guys trying to hack me?

Hey Rachel, try reading your own blog!
Must you be such a dick about it?

RobDon - in Palin's revisionist history of Paul Revere, he's riding around on his horse, ringing bells, and warning the British.
lol
When Revere "warned" the British, he'd been abducted by them - so it's doubtful he was still riding his horse.
Michelle Maulkin bent over backwards and every which-a-way to defend Palin's ignorance. Hilarious.

Perfectly said! "Neutrality" is defined as tolerating and propagating lies generated by leading right-wing politicians.
