Wow...when I was a Police officer, I was ordered by my Capt. to run beggers and pan handlers out of the city and find any charge I could make to deter future scams............I believe that if I was still on duty and Bachmann was running this scam I would be acting within the orders givien. In the case of Bachmann, an "Emergency Contribution" is a political contribution given to a candidate who would like to create an Emergency.

DQ - Did you ever read "The Absolute at Large" by Karel Capek? If not, I highly recommend it; it's a quick read and such a satirical corollary to today's events it is ridiculous and it was written in 1920s as a satire for events of that era.

I will not donate to your campaign to not vote to raise the debt ceiling.
The answer to our nation's political woes is not to elect more extremist politicians--we tried that in 2010--it is to reduce the number of so-called patriots who want to destroy our government. President Obama is approaching the debt ceiling the wrong way. Any plan that begins by offering up for the chopping block liberal strong holds that serve to benefit our most vulnerable citizens is no plan at all.
That's why I'm writing you today--I need you to agree with me that we simply cannot afford to have people like you in power. So, no, I will not help you raise your voice loud and clear by giving one red cent to your campaign of fear. Instead, I will raise my voice loud and clear and tell you that it is people like you who have diminished my emergency funds that should go to food, shelter and basic healthcare; therefore, I have no funds to donate to your fantasy emergency funds. Please review the definition of emergency. I believe you are confused. If you still don't get it, go straight to the nearest Emergency Room, preferably in the poorest neighborhood you can find, and ask the patients, their families--including victims of violent crimes--nurses, doctors, EMTS, paramedics, lab techs, Xray techs, nurse aids, respiratory techs and the like, what constitutes an "Emergency". Then you may rephrase your abominable letter.

I am SICK of the "every family must balance its budget" Republican meme. If Republicans really think families don't borrow, they should immediately advocate repeal the mortgage interest deduction. No one needs it, right?
While I'm on the soapbox, they also throw out "top 1% of taxpayers pay 50% of federal revenue". If true that's great news! That top 1% pays a lower percent of their income than most people. If we simply make them pay the same as everyone else -- that's totally fair -- revenue will go up and the deficit go down.
The July 27, 2011 issue of The New Yorker has a lengthy article on Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world's biggest hedge fund. Last year alone, Dalio earned between two and three billion dollars and reached No. 55 on the Forbes 400 list. Thanks to Reagan/Bush-I and Bush-II/Cheney, he was able to pay tax on this amount at the 15% rate. Now three billion at that rate, would come to $45 million. That is a lot. But, he would still have two billion, nine hundred fifty five million dollars to play around with. The last I heard, a waitress is required to pay tax on an assumed 20 percent tip for each meal she serves. If she is lucky enough to get minimum wage, she will have a very, very difficult time to provide for herself even if she works double shifts. She won't be able to survive at all if she, like the wife of Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), their father refuses to pay child support.

These Tea Partiers have no intention of raising the debt ceiling. The idea that we are playing this game over and over again is in the hopes that these people don't have to fortitude to continue this facade. Their sole intent is to not only topple Obama but to make sure his Presidency will be ruled a failure. If they have to get a thousand people to jump off a bridge to make this true, they would get 2000 people. They have no intention of raising the debt ceiling and averting the crisis that will occur.
When a crisis does occur, which is what's needed to invoke the 14th admendment, then they will start impeachment proceedings in the middle of this entire disaster. These aren't normal people. They have intentionally misinformed their electorate, they intentionally worked them into a frenzy with fear mongering about a matter that doesn't exist(death panels) or a matter that isn't as critically urgent as they say it is (debt crisis). They condemn Obama for spending after they lie repeatedly about his spending. This is beyond political wranglings and now we are on the verge of disaster because of it.
I believe Obama recognized this as an opportunity to get our fiscal dilemma in order, but they realized he can't have that as a home run so their is no way they want to deliver a resolution to this debt. They would rather have the country fail.
What Obama seems to misunderstand is that he is more like Hank Aaron and what he went through for toppling Babe Ruth's home run record. Everytime he hits a home run, they hated him even more, everytime he strikes out they cheer with joy(2016 Olympics).
Michelle Bachmann's comment suggests that this is a request by Obama for more money to blow on czars. This is the type of false logic that she keeps her electorate in. I can't imagine why anyone would want to be part of this falsehood over the best interest of the common good and leaders who have no interest in telling the truth.
