This bit from Texas Governor Rick Perry appears to be contradicted by what has actually happened in Texas:
“The fact is, government doesn’t create jobs, otherwise the last two and a half years of stimulus would have worked,” Perry said this month in a speech to the National Conference of State Legislatures. “Government can only create the environment that allows the private sector to create jobs. The single most important contributor to our jobs-friendly climate here in Texas is our low tax burden, because we know dollars do far more to create jobs and prosperity in the people’s hands than they do in the government’s.”
The Washington Post calculates today that private sector jobs in Texas have fallen slightly since the recession began, by 0.6 percent. Public-sector jobs are up by 6.4 percent, and about one in every six Texas workers clocks in for the government. Compare that with conditions in Ohio, where government jobs have been lost and unemployment has begun to climb again.
What's more, Texas seems really, truly proud of what it has accomplished with federal stimulus money. The state government alone has been awarded more than $24 billion -- real money, even in a Texas-sized economy.
(h/t Ezra Klein)

Now if only we can get that preaching Perry to realize juts how stupid he looks, well make that most of the whole republican party went they say Government does not create jobs or government jobs are not real.
so i say we need to invest in America and most importantly Invest in the American People. and the Government starts to hire for all those non-real-jobs.
More than half of what is going to come out of his mouth is going to be a contradiction somewhere. I'll go dig some up later.
I guess the author is assuming that actual facts mean something. Perry is a rootin' tootin' Texas cowboy, just like ol' Dubya , and more importantly than that, he's WHITE, and that's all his toothless, inbred supporters need to know.
jdafixa, I think that your comments are a bit more incendiary in tone than is fully helpful, but I'm generally with you. The root of the problem is the dissociative relationship with the truth. The root of that dissociation, is the inarticulable anger at the "other" in the White House.
And an ability to steal elections by either rigging or burning up voting machines shortly before the election in a populace county that strongly supports its favorite son, Bill White. Republicans will stop at nothing, say anything and do their level best to intimidate and thwart demographic groups that might vote Democratic. The Republican controlled State Legislature gerrymandered the congressional districts so thoroughly that if the state was printed on cardboard and the districts cut out it would resemble an a complicated puzzle. They carefully deprived Austin of exclusive representation in congress. I suppose it's because Austin is like a liberal oasis in the middle of a Red State desert.
Read my lips - NO NEW TEXANS.
Hey, a liberal joke that is actually funny! Good job, Tim.
Too bad the bulk of the government jobs are going to two states run by governors who protest them the most.
Could it be these states have been run conservatively so that when the need to expand services that aid the unemployed and job developers, these states can expand the government payroll accordingly? Did you know Texas has fewer government employees than most other states? Hmmm.
....So then it's running one of the largest deficits in the nation because?
Perry's budget fiasco, in which his comptroller told him policies he forwarded would result in the deficit; then hiding the deficit prior to the election; then using Federal stimulus to bail his own butt out instead of, say, fixing schools and keeping cops on the beat ought to be enough to have him drummed out of any debate. Already the jobs miracle is withering as Perry and the legislature slash education (so it can be even lower ranked) and other services.
Texan now living in Florida...
Texas public school now to charge for bus service.
Texas courts to put school children that misbehave in the court system.
this is totally false.
and children who do misbehave should be separated from students who are willing and wanting to learn. As for children being put in a court system i do not agree with that but their parents should be held responsible so if that means they need to go to court and be held responsible I'm all for it
This message should be hammered home in paid political ads to be shown in the "heartland" Markets on all networks in particular Fox and Fox News! also buying ad time on radio stations that pump up the right wing agenda; nationwide!
That would mean that you believe the low intelligence voter pays attention to the TRUTH!! My, will you please share those drugs you're on - I said please?!
i'm sure if you look at the statics the people with lowest education and intelligence vote DEMOCRATE.....just sayin
LOL some more.
thanks keep it up.
Plese provide some facts - seems to me your Repulican candidates are trying to out do each other for stupid....just saying.
Actually that isn't so far off from statistical truth (although he worded in the worst way possible). Democrats typically speaking are people w/o a high school education, w/ a high school education (but no college), or with a bachelors degree+. Democrats are also typically government employees and typically make middle income or lower income. Republicans, on the other hand, tend to be people with professional degrees (such as law degrees) and tend to be in higher brackets of income. There are some exceptions to this rule on the Republican side: military, police, and firefighter personnel are more likely to vote Republican than Democrat. People who work construction and/or drive trucks, or work in other harder-labor jobs (like, as an example, lumberjacking) are also more likely to vote Republican. And for Hispanics the Republican/Democrat breakdown is almost 50/50. Interestingly enough, however, people with bachelors degrees, masters degrees, and PhDs are most likely to vote Democrat. People with professional certificates and professional degrees are most likely to vote Republican. This also depends on where someone lives. The more rural of a location someone lives in the more likely he/she will vote Republican. The more urban of an environment someone lives in the more likely he/she will vote Democrat.

I guess these non-real jobs are generating imaginary dollars that magically become real the moment they're spent.
this is all so comical. i have never heard such negative people as all you leftist. instead of telling the world about all the wonderful things this president has done over the last three years you choose to speak negatively about every other person running for office. talk about being closed minded. as if all your ideas are right and everyone else's ideas have no any credit. just tell me what 30 years of liberalism has done for the middle class and the poor in this country? welfare is at is highest ever and so is unemployment especially among the minorities in this country whom all your programs were to help the most.
you left wing people say it all the time the "rich get richer and the poor get poorer" but for over thirty years and longer you guys have in-acted liberal polices but the results haven't changed except the rich democrat leaders in this country who feed you all this garbage get richer and your chances to succeed dramatically fall. Of the top 10 richest people in congress 7 are democrats.
LOL
Thanks for the Monday morning Laugh! just a good way to start the week off after a week off.
leftist>> lol great one will keep that as a rain check on a drink.
lol
i have read all these blogs for the last couple weeks and i have yet to read one that has said anything good that the President has done over the last three years or even the last several months. Please explain to why this is? A nation of negativity.
30 years of liberalism? Surely you meant "30 years of the liberal policies slowly being eroded"?

JCARROLL: I agree with you 100%. If you look at the chart above the only two states that have created jobs are Republican run. The other three states are run by the Democratic party and they could not increase employment even with the stimulus. Instead of constantly complaining about how bad the opposition is, maybe you Progressives need to look in the mirror and share in the blame. All politician have let us down. It is time to radically restructure our country and that means simplifying the tax code, reforming entitlement programs and modernizing our government
I do hope that was able to help, you said you had not heard anything and well there are now over 200 for you. "The 244 Accomplishments of President Barack Obama. This special list was compiled by Robert P. Watson, Ph. D., who is a presidential historian and Professor of American Studies at Lynn University. As some falsely claim ” he hasn’t done anything “….as you can plainly see by the incredible list, President Obama has OBVIOUSLY accomplished more in just 20 months than most president’s have in 8 years." I got this list from jackandjillpolitics.com it was compiled October of 2010 so I am sure there are even more to add to the list.........
i never said the president hasnt done any thing good. what i was saying the topics of these disscusions are all aimed at negativity of others rather than the positive things these president has done.
Much of that list is Laughable>>>stoping raids on medical marijuana labs....seriously. we wonder why california has lost over 850,000 jobs in the last several years its because their population is running around stoned and there isnt enough doughnut shops to hire them all. lol
Thank you!! Very helpful POSITIVE message about the current administration's accomplishments.
Also if these blogs really wanted to talk about a real issue and not just trying to smear others idea or simply trying to smear others who disagree we would be talking about "Fast and Furious".
this is an issue that will probably lead to the impeachment of the President and if it doesnt go that high it will certainly lead to the firing of Eric Holder.
making fun of someone because they are from texas is simple and is why american politics have become so unimportant.
Jules,
Great list.
but sadly they will not be able to understand it, but only try to change the subject.
Its not good enough to say well i have done this and this and this. i think i if i went to my employer and said here is a big list of the things i have done. his next question would be right after he said i dont care about all things you have done....what are the results of your work and how have they impacted what we are trying to accomplish here?
BINGO!!!
winner winner chicken dinner.
lol didnt take long
Did y'all even read this accomplishment list? it's is so laughable. How do you put something on like this in an accomplishment list " Note: Much of Obama’s immigration reform had been stalled by opposition in Congress" this list is filled with statements like this one. especially when it comes to all the major issues. i guess every one has forgot that for the last 6 years the congress and the senate was ran by the Democrates
J CARROLL asked:
I would conjecture that the reason little "good" is said has more to do with the current trends in political expression than in any act, good or bad, done by a candidate or current representative.
Most political discussions, advertisements, trends, etc. seem to be focused on tearing down either the oppositions candidate or their policies. Much like your comments which refer to the "laughable" nature of the generously provided list of the President's accomplishments.
I also believe that these boards tend to be more analysis and activist in nature when dealing with the topics provided by TRMS, and are not focused as much on praise and unilateral support of any particular candidate or representative. There are, however, always exceptions.
We're also a bit of a negative bunch due to the prevalence of negativity during these trying times in our nation. We want better, but given the magnitude of the circumstances embracing our nation we don't necessarily know how to get there. Like many, we know what we don't want more than what we do when it comes to the intricacies of politics and society.
I think it would be fair to say that some of your own comments are laced with a bit of negativity. Even your question is a bit of a "stab" at the nature of the posters on this site. So, I would have to say you aren't that different than the people you say you're finding here.
Thus, J CARROLL, I would ask ... what do you think we should be posting here and why?
J Carroll,
The reason so many things include the disclaimer below it about being held up by opposition in congress or senate is because it was true. When Dems held house and Senate the republican minority used something known as the filibuster to prevent any legislation from being voted on let alone being passed. The Stimulus would have been much more effective had the republicans not used their obstructionist filibuster tactics to water it down. The same goes for the Health care bill. So when you claim that the Dems have had a majority in both house for the past few years and look at the economy, you need to take into account that the whole time Dems have been trying to pass democratic policies the republicans have used their obstructionist tactics to control policy while still only being a minority.
Some people will never listen or believe what they read nor believe in proven the facts. Good post Jules, unfortunatly thier eyes will read but their mind is blind.
Patriot
solutions and honesty. i feel what most people want and need is direction and a since that they can accomplish things on their own. with that being said when someone we know or a relative or a neighbor falls we as a community should be the ones who pick them up and not rely soley on the government. our problems are self inflected and no government will be able to help if we can't return a since of family and community to country. so i would say focus on things that we as society can improve on and can make a huge difference a lot faster than asking some congressman who doesn't even know who the hell you are anyway. Start from the ground up getting people involved in communities again.
Brandon,
obstructionist......its a Strong word to against someone who does See the world through your eye's. meaning they didn't vote the way you wanted them to vote because they didn't agree with the way you think. its not personal its just different ideas. also, while in charge of everything they passed the largest entitlement program known to this country. Health Care" which a ton of people didn't agree with. they didn't need republican votes to do this. so for you to now say they couldnt of passed any other bills on stimulus and immigration is nothing more than an excuse for not proposing the right bills. with things like immigration and stimulus funding are way more bipartisan than health-care ever was.
. i feel what most people want and need is direction and a since that they can accomplish things on their own. with that being said when someone we know or a relative or a neighbor falls we as a community should be the ones who pick them up and not rely soley on the government.
gee thats nice how about expanding that to the USA is just one big old community!!!! and yes we take care of our own!!!!! its threw what we all call taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we as a community should be the ones who pick them up and not rely soley on the government.
Community=government
Start from the ground up getting people involved in communities again.
The assumption you make here is that people were taken care of when people "were involved in communities." If the private sector had done enough to help those in need the government would have never gotten involved. Because the private sector (i.e. charities and non-profits) do not make enough money, have enough access, enough volunteers, or are located nation-wide enough to help it falls on government to pick up the slack. If I use your logic that communities and governments are separate this is the problem of communities, not government. Therefore cutting programs or complaining about programs offered to help people by the government makes absolutely no sense. In either instance your logic appears contradictory.
obstructionist......it a Strong word to against someone who does See the world through your eye's. meaning they didn't vote the way you wanted them to vote because they didn't agree with the way you think. its not personal its just different ideas.
No an obstructionist is not someone who votes differently than you because they philosophically disagree. An obstructionist is someone who votes against you solely because they do not want you to win; it is someone who cares not what the outcome of policy is, but what the outcome of party is. This is especially true when considering that the obstructionism has been Republicans voting against their own ideas.
also, while in charge of everything they passed the largest entitlement program known to this country. Health Care
HCRA is not an entitlement program, nor would it be the "largest entitlement program known to this country" if it was an entitlement program. Additionally "most people" depends on very vague definers. If we're taking the sum of most polls then the polling data suggests that people are against Obamacare, but for HCRA. Since they are both the same pieces of legislation this does not accurately reflect what it is the public does or does not support. But regardless of whether or not the public supports it this is an ad populum argument which is a logical fallacy. So not only is this argument not factually accurate or contextually honest, it also is an illogical argument to begin with.
they didn't need republican votes to do this. so for you to now say they couldnt of passed any other bills on stimulus and immigration is nothing more than an excuse for not proposing the right bills.
HCRA was passed with bi-partisan support. The Democratic presence in the Senate during President Obama's time in office has never had a filibuster proof majority. Therefore yes they did and have needed Republican support to pass legislation. This, again, is not only a factually and contextually dishonest argument, but it is another logical fallacy known as begging the question.
with things like immigration and stimulus funding are way more bipartisan than health-care ever was.
This statement contradicts your opening premise to your second paragraph. The immigration bill presented in the Senate was a Republican bill proposed by Republican legislators that those very same legislators voted against, even though the bill had not been altered in any way from the original format they had proposed.
but when you personalize it it becomes much more real and understanding and you can learn from others. when you simply just go to the mail box and pull out a check you havent learned anything except i hope my check is there next month.
but when you personalize it it becomes much more real and understanding and you can learn from others. when you simply just go to the mail box and pull out a check you havent learned anything except i hope my check is there next month.
This is another logical fallacy called appeal to pathos. It is also ignoring the actual statistics regarding assistance that people receiving from government aid get, how long they are on this aid, and how it helps them "personally."
its not a fallacy when you have seen it work. if you dont feel we as americans can do more in our communities to help other fellow americans thats fine. im not hear to say that all your ideas are wrong or even that all my ideas are correct. i just believe we should be able to have open conversation of ideas without attacking people by calling them names and making fun of where they are from. i would hope people who care so much for there country would be above this.
Your defense of an appeal to pathos fallacy is to provide another appeal to pathos fallacy. If you are unfamiliar with what constitutes a logical argument or what are the fallacies you're utilizing please familiarize yourself by doing a quick Google search. I've provided the names of the fallacies so that you can avoid them and, hopefully, avoid them in the future to present more reasoned arguments. The argument you've presented here is what makes people feel good=good for them. People feel good meeting with other people who want to help them face to face so therefore it is good. People do not feel good getting a check in the mail so therefore it is not good. This is fallacious reasoning. What is more your initial premise- regarding government welfare- was that government welfare should be abstained or lessened because it discourages people to involve themselves in communities and/or discourages communities to become involved with people who are disadvantaged. This despite the fact that you have presented no argument or statistics to justify how it is that government welfare causes these effects. Government assists charities to exist in the first place so even beyond all of this we'd have to rationalize how it is that we'd be cutting welfare for one sector while maintaining or increasing it for another. But that is an aside that can be addressed at some other juncture. There are no requirements set up on welfare that prevent a person from seeking private help. There are no requirements preventing a person from reaching out to friends, family, neighbors, etc. Yet somehow you are arguing that the government, just by offering help, destroys communities. I should remind you that all welfare programs require a person fill out paper work and meet with case workers face to face at some time during the process of receiving welfare. Welfare, such as student loans, that is given out in the form of a blank government check only occurs after that initial filing. So if your premise were true this would additionally suggest that the government form as of now is adequate. What is more you are making quite an arrogant assumption as to how "personable" welfare is. I do not know of a lot of people who do not take their welfare "personally." Everyone that I know who receieves welfare- whether it be VA benefits, student loans, or social security- rely on those assistant programs as a means of existence. They apply for the program because they need the help and lean on the program for that help until they are able to support themselves. And I do not know of many people who willingly stay on welfare- save social security, medicare, and va benefits- longer than a few months unless their current economic situation prevents them from changing. In which case you've provided still no evidence as to how a charity or non-profit helps more than the government in elevating someone out of such a situation, despite this, again, being your initial premise. For the record your average welfare recipient only takes in that money for 10 mo's total, unless we're talking about student loans in which case it's 5 years on average. Very few of the arguments you've presented are based on factual accuracies or well-reasoned arguments. I would think, in our ever attempting strive at perfection, that we would like to weed out factual inaccuracies and logical fallacies as much as possible in order to achieve the highest level of understanding we as mere humans can achieve. I do not see how maintaining bad arguments gets us there, so my hope would be you take these corrections in the spirit that they are meant.
Now I should also add that I do agree it doesn't benefit us to constantly attack Texans as being something evil and that I personally lament the marginalization Texas Democrats must withstand from within their own party. It certainly doesn't maintain a strong argument and it certainly doesn't push us to better policy.
Mouzer,

This is especially true when considering that the obstructionism has been Republicans voting against their own ideas.
you are making the assumption that you know what these people are thinking when they vote.
.....when someone votes against their own idea and then goes out on television and says I am doing this to stop the President, there is no assuming going on.
My son and daughter live in Texas. Son has a decent job at an Oil related company. Daughter works at one of those jobs Perry made. Seven bucks and hour and minimal health insurance after 90 days. Trouble is, you rarely make it to 90 days. She was fired after emergency surgery.. got another job.. fired after reporting an abusive co-worker.
What does she do you might ask? She's the highly trained person your IT calls when they're having trouble. She only works with IT professionals. At $7 an hour.
Welcome to "Right to Work" your employees into the ground states.
i have nothing more than an high school education and live in texas and make 70,000 dollars a year and have adequate health insurance and only work 40 hours a week. as for education in texas you need to look at the number a little closer. texas is among the highest states that face illegal immigration. so to say this doesn't have an effect on the education in texas or at least have an effect on the statics would be totally false.Texas has 4 universities in the top one hundred in the country.
Texas ranks 45 out of 50 in per capita income... Poverty stats are like the third world.
you need to look at cost of living when you make that comparison.
also, again Texas have some 3 million illegal immigrants in this state that can't speak or write English.
J Carroll.. you didn't get the point of my post. And I suspect you never will. I will answer only once:
Texas has a lot of low paying jobs. Perry has decimated the educational system. So what they have 4 Universities (more actually) but who can afford to send their kids there anymore?
As to cost of living. At this time a house in Texas costs about the same as a house in California. As people migrated to Texas on the promise of great jobs, they took up the housing. Now Texas is going to feel the pinch.
Illegal immigrants? Didn't Perry say he'd fixed that? We have as many in California, they mostly work in agriculture. I suspect it's the same in Texas. The prime jobs aren't being taken by illegals.
I'm REALLY tired of everyone on the right blaming immigrants for any problems that are happening in this country. You will NEVER find harder workers, more determined to make a life for their families and do whatever menial work they can find. And that work is something actual citizens of this country think is "beneath" them. They DO pay taxes and spend their money in their communities to help local economies. So STOP BLAMING THEM!
So STOP BLAMING THEM!
it oh so easy for them to do, as they can not take a personal inventory of them self's and realize that they are the problem and not every one else.
so sad to see people who wear blinders that only have special holes cut in them filtering out all reality.
nobody ever said that they arent hard workers or even just good people. but its a fact when you have schools flooded with children who cant speak or write english its going to have a huge effect on the education system and certainly on the the statics on the education system.
amazon,
of course there are a lot of low paying jobs in Texas just like every other state. However there are a lot of very good middle class jobs as well and professional job also. i live here and have been working in texas since i was sixteen and i can tell you i have never held a job that didnt provide health care or at least provide health care at a low cost.... like 60 dollars a month.
i know the housing market is bad but in a normal market californa is the most expensive place to live. in most cases a house of the same in texas and california the house in texas is two to even three times less.
The extreme irony of this is that Governor Perry hired some 4,000 carefully vetted state workers who were put on the state payroll to further his agenda regarding regulation, ur, de-regulation for his cronies with polluting industries who generously funded his campaigns. This is after he bequeathed them with millions from his Rainy Day Fund and another industry attracting fund while he let schools run out of money (except for the federal money that kept them from total disaster), laying off teachers and closing exemplary schools that were doing their jobs so well. He is a smarmy character who makes George W. Bush look like a moderate.
Perry is a hypocrit to the nth degree. He may be a good at Texas politics but will it work nationally,ai'nt no way.He created a lot of jobs but you have to work four of them just to keep your head above water. He's yet another Texas braggert without substance or truth.Did you see the wall street banker walk up to him and tell him they were going to help him out? Thats what Perry is all about, big money and big oil, just another in the pocket repub.
the fact is Texas has three major industries that support this state and provide millions of jobs to Texans. i wouldnt say these industries are recession proof but are very strong in trying times. Oil & Gas which other industries such as engineering firms a directly related to this market. then you also have some of the best medical facilities in the world in Houston, TX. Farming also plays a big part in our economy as well.
note: NASA which has now been shut down in houston directly effecting more than 250,000 works was another industry that Texans were proud of and shames us to think that America now doesnt have an interest in the exploration of space.
@J Carroll, can you tell me sir what the hell we are going to do in space? Raise space food, space oil or more space cadets like Perry.
i'm pretty sure in all the public education systems science plays a big roll.
if you think NASA is only about going into Space im sorry your wrong. NASA has created or improved hundreds of products just to give you one example the satellite. now you can go and learn more about what NASA does.
@ J Carroll...Yep, we have no interest in Space. I remember Obama saying that. No, wait, that was someone else.
All NASA jobs, and those that prospered from them, restaurants, dry cleaners, 7-11 (texas company), local bed taxes for hotel rooms by workers and visitors...all FROM THE GOVERNMENT... as you just found out, as things started to slow down. And those hospitals, all got government grants for research... I'll check that, it could be that just MOST of them got government money.
who is saying that government does have a role to play in our society? and if you think the government gave them this money your wrong again. it is yours and my tax dollars that go to fund these programs and now our great great grand children.
You're absolutely right! Our tax dollars fund the USA Government. The reason is because WE, the People, ARE the Government. Something the Republicans hope you never realize. They work for us; we pay them. We elect them; we fire them. They are supposed to listen to us - all of us.
Somewhere along the way, they forget this and treat us disrepectfully when they patronize and lie to us and pander to corporate "persons."
So when "the Government" funds programs, it is actually WE, the People, funding programs to take care of WE, the People, because WE, the People, are the Government. WE, the People, own the bridges and roads and government buildings and we should care about keeping them in good repair. WE, the People, invested our funds, our sweat, our hope and dreams into this country - all of us - and all of us have an interest in seeing our investment continue to reap benefits to us - WE, the People - that's PEOPLE not corporate persons.
Ergo, Republicans demonize "WE, the People" every time they talk about the BIG BAD Government. Don't know about you, but I don't like my employees being disrepectful to me, but I really, really have zero tolerance for one lying to me.
Republicans don't bother checking facts before they start blathering - they hope most voters don't either.
Perry is not a jobs creator but 'jobs creationist'
Perry is not a jobs creator but JOBS CREATIONIST
J CARROLL,
You talk highly about the community and community involvement. A community ran society is a great idea, especially compared to a corporate ran society! I'm curious where did the word communism come from?
Oh right Mouzer and the Republicans are trying so hard to fool them into going on their rolls.Fricken' useless (bi-partisan blowhards."
I was not commenting on whether or not I agree with the stalemate in Congress. I was explaining what obstructionism is and how the Republican party has utilized it in order to create a stalemate. Democrats have not had the ability to pass any piece of legislation through the Senate during President Obama's entire term in office w/o the help of Republican support. If people want the Senate to be able to function, given the current nature of things, they either need to vote in a Republican majority or a Democratic super-majority (60+ seats). These are sad, but true, facts.
Basically as it stands I see the republican led-party as anarchists. They will do whatever they can to dis-unite this country. Putting up with the line of (R) presidential wanna be's is like a 6 or so,-ring circus act. Rick Perry (according to an unnamed editorial) just happened to be the governor while Texas was experiencing a booming energy business which was the engine driving the Texas economy. It goes on to say, "in a comparison of the Bush and Perry governorships, Bush comes out the winner." Bush, the Observer found, paid more attention to details and was stronger in terms of policy. Since Bush's style in Austin -as later in Washington- was to avoid getting his hands dirty and to delegate as much as possible, it leaves you wondering what Perry...has been doing for the past 3850-plus days Aside from politicking (and loudly calling for Texas to secede from the Union of which he now wants to be president) not a whole lot." Tax the very rich they get most of their money from the poor saps anyway. Come on people think about it some democratic values are worthy of using and some republican values are worthy of flushing down the toilet.
shoot i did not mean to "like" J Carrols comment I wanted to reply on some of the spelling. Being uneducated doesn't make you an ignorant voter. It doesn't take a rocket scientist, a $70,000 salary or even an income to be privy to the American Political Experience. Yes, the repubs have stooped so low, further than where democrats have been accused of going in the past, not only is it disconcerting but it is downright disgusting to actually see this nonsense, otherwise known as campaigning being carried out on a weekly basis. Taxpayer money goes to social programs because the republican "trickle down" process has never worked for the masses, (obviously). Obama has actually given Americans the chance to renew their hope in a truly Democractic Way. Perfect? no, of course not. Given the support he is cleaning up from a messy preceding government. Given more support by all the people, for the time he is in office would undeniably make America stronger and prouder in altruistic form. People are tired of the purely capitalist frenzy that takes priority to any other issues a country has. Put this crap to bed. Good night and good luck.
“By dint of vision, and determination, and most of all faith in the redeeming power of love, he endured the humiliation of arrest, the loneliness of a prison cell, the constant threats to his life, until he finally inspired a nation to transform itself, and begin to live up to the meaning of its creed.”—Then-Senator Obama at the groundbreaking of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in 2006. The memorial will be formally dedicated this Sunday
