unbelievable story at this time on Fox News web site that wants to do away with the National Weather Service
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/08/27/do-really-need-national-weather-service/#content
Really? Well they are going to have a hard time doing that too. Specially when they use the service to sensationalize and to make sure that after we take care of the damage financially to their front beach properties. I am sure that we all have gone through some wide spread bad weather and Uncle Sam have not helped. Still a lot of whom were affected by Katrina are still homeless or living with relatives waiting for FEMA to do something. I bet that those wealthy with beach front property will be taken care of first.
that is not a story, it's an OPINION. You do know the difference, right?
OK, I get it, it is a bad storm. But why do the tax payers have to pay for the damage done to the beach front property? Don't those people have insurance? And if they don't, it was their choice to live in the coast line. I think this country has their consciences all screwed up. The majority of those affected by Katrina did not see one penny from our government and are still homeless, living in trailers or with relatives. Why is it that the wealthy is always taken care of first when we all have to pay taxes. The same with the National Guard and the Coast Guard, they are mobilized not to protect the bottom 80% but to protect the top 20% and their property from the rest of us who are paying for the salaries of the National Guard. It seems that they are mobilize to make sure the rest of us are in check and not to protect us.
A more relevent question: Do we really need Fox News? I'm awfully tired of being tired of relentless, hopelessly stupid, right-wing b.s. Will it EVER end??
Wow. That looks like my parents basement right now. Such a mess, I don't wish this on my enemy seriously.
Actually according to NOAA, taping windows is effectively a waste of time and effort:

=( Poor town, you all got it worse up there than we did down here this time I think...this storm wasn't anywhere near as bad in Md as Isabel was, at least not where I am at.
looks better than average by local Florida standards, about like a heavy thunderstorm or mild tropical depression/storm.
