Elizabeth Warren is coming on our show tonight, her first live national interview since announcing that she's running in the Democratic primary for Senate from Massachusetts. Her campaign website features a single page of "priorities," which makes it easy to feed into the wordcloud machine. The result's below.
After the jump, the Scott Brown wordcloud.
Senator Scott Brown, the Republican incumbent, puts his positions under "issues," again in a single page.

Great! I love new perspectives on analyzing large amounts of information into a visual form.
I enjoy these because, although technically disjointed, the impression they leave me with is a thing I like to ponder over for a moment. I compare how my specific visceral response to a given cloud jibes generally with my average visceral response to the speaker or topic.
With Warren and Brown my normal overall impressions are:
Warren: no-nonsense, smart, effective, beige
Brown: politician, underestimated, illogical, pink
Here is my unscientific but actual first-two-seconds take on each cloud:
work... rules...
want... need...
Massachusetts... world...
Okay. Yep.
support... believe...
America... Israel...
Ahmadinejad??? Wha-what?
Okay. Yep.
hm; in the Scott Brown word-cloud, i can't find the word 'Cosmo(politan)' or 'naked'/'nude'.
must be a teeneh, teeneh, tineh, little... um, word.
;)
and how does that work when Anthony Weiner was forced out of office? did Weiner even reveal as much? was it the medium, or the fact that it was private vs public exhibition?
but yeah, if Weiner had just been forthright when he slipped up, he could've rode out the whole big deal.
don't say rode out...
Can't wait to call Ms. Warren my Senator (now that I'm no longer a Californian).

I've been watching Elizabeth Warren for a while, always impressed with her smart, to-the-point assessments of today's economic environment.
After reading her website, and seeing that her first national interview is with Rachel, I'm seeing what I had hoped I would see: someone who is not afraid to claim the "progressive" or "liberal" label. This is someone who understands her base, and understands what they need to do more than just survive.
I am so excited about this campaign! I live in Indiana, and I already signed up to volunteer. Next year, my week's vacation (from a consumer advocacy org) will be spent campaigning for Elizabeth in Mass. :)
fittingly, the top word in scott brown's wordcloud is "tool"
He is a wholly owned subsidiary of the banks and Wall Street. Check his votes and his campaign contributors.
i missed that; great catch.
at the top of Warren's one could argue is either 'ideas' or 'work'.
I was wondering if maybe that was his byline…
This is a great day for America. Elizabeth Warren is a true champion of working Americans, devoted to ensuring fairness and of holding the powers of the corporate elite accountable for their actions. That she was basically kicked aside by the president in deference to opposition from Republican thugs in Congress and Corporate America will forever be a stain upon the Obama presidency. For her to end up in the Senate would be appropriate vengeance.

Hey Matt, where have you been, everyone knows that the republicans was not going to seat her, why waste time, she will be a great asset as a senator. This was an arrangement.......................
I agree Jacqlyn, I also think it was planned. What many folks forget is reality. In reality, the President knows what he is facing (total opposition by R's) and finds a way to get what is possible through. That really irks many people that think he can do whatever he wants.
I seriously doubt that Scott Brown can be re-elected in a general election. People forget that special elections have low turnout. Mid terms have generally been lower turnout. (I hope voters have learned that lesson!!! We have to VOTE/ The R's do not want the masses to vote, they want a jaded and indifferent citizenry. I say… do not let them have that.
I don;t live in Mass., but I would love to see her as one of the 100 Senators.

I intend to work on this campaign. I'm very excited at the prospect of having Professor Warren in the Senate.
Way to go BB, practise for when she campaigns for Prez (2016 maybe).
Are we sure the Scott Brown word cloud isn't really Stephen Colbert's word cloud?
I'm pretty sure in the middle there I see some suspiciously consecutive words:
"encourage bear abortion"
Have a great day/night (for you east coasters) all.
-Asy
also "death strength America".
Is Scott Brown the Senator from Israel? I don't even see "Massachusetts" in his.
I had the same observation.
Good for you BagelBones!
We have a big family and money is tight, but we sent a heap to the future Senator from your state. She is dynamite and has a heart as breathtaking in scope as her rigorous mind. Thanks for helping Warren take out Scott Brown.
(out of office, that is)
This may be the best compliment I have ever heard a person be paid.
A fittingly breathtaking compliment!
Go get him Ms.Warren!
We love you and you totally ROCK! You're the complete package. Brains, heart and guts.
May the force be with you.
Ms Warren is a shinning point of light in an otherwise drab political landscape.
GO ELIZABETH!!!
As a former Bay Stater, I'm envious of those of you who will get a real issues campaign, at least on one side.
I'm not sure this is the best thing for Ms. Warren herself - the Senate will surely be a frustrating place for her, but it could be very very good for the rest of us.
And I, too, had already been reading her work, her op-eds in the Globe, more than 20 years ago when I lived in Boston, so I knew she'd be good when her name came up in Washington a few years ago. She hasn't changed her orientation toward consumers and working people in all these years.
I was fooled once (Barack Obama), so this is just a first impression. Elizabeth Warren is aiming too low-she should challenge Barack Obama in the Democratic primary. She is what the American people thought they were getting when they voted for Barack Obama in 2008.
Perhaps, but few political outsiders stand a chance. If she wants to do it as others did, she will run for Senate (successfully), serve a term or two, and then run when the party is dying for a person who can explain difficult concepts to anyone; who is ready to take a no-nonsense approach to dealing with buffoons in government; and who (by that time) will know who the troublemakers are (and perhaps how to nullfy the worst of their recalcitrance).
Just my two cents.
What a nice fantasy it is to have someone of Warren's caliber challenging Obama in the primary. But it just couldn't happen. The only person who could do it -- who has the necessary profile and a national organization -- is Hillary Clinton. And she's not doing it. An unknown person with no organization would have had to start a long time ago.
If there ever was a time for an outsider this would be it. She speaks to Main Street. A couple of years in the Senate may be too late for the American people. Hillary Clinton would only more of the same old Washington status quo flim flam game.
I hope she kicks his Wall Street Insider out of Washington I think Barack Obama could take some lessons from her on having backbone and really looking out for the small people I think she has more experience than her Democratic opponents Mr Warren has only been a mayor for two years now and for a wealthy community i am happy she has decided to run against Scott Brown who needs to be sent packing And she can do it with out a big bankroll I get a real sense that she is a candidate of high integrity and not a phoney
Huh? Israel is bigger than America in Brown's wordcloud? Last time I checked, the Senate wasn't the Knesset. Just saying…
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Elizabeth Warren, we would love for you to represent the democratic party as the New Senator of Mass...................
The show mentioned that a hostile domain name was registered. What made the domain name hostile? Is it simply anything that mildly disagrees that becomes hostile?
I registered several domains today including truefaceofpolitics.com and madcow-media.com. Does this constitute a hostile website. Of course not. Why?
I try to be fair.

We got it the first time. Yawn.
think it is in reference to what they have done before with domain names, so they will make stuff up making it a hostile domain.
not that hostile as in lets fist fight.
IMO
Looks to me like a mindless jumble of words none of which make a coherent thought.
Useless! Might as well throw paint on a wall and call it art.
You miss the point of a word cloud, VM.
