So they had this little rally in Madison, Wisconsin, on Saturday. The Wisconsin State Department of Administration says between 25,000 and 30,000 people turned out to cheer for the recall of Governor Scott Walker. From the Wisconsin State Journal:
Asked about the rally Saturday, Walker's office chose to focus on another of his priorities.
"The only campaign Gov. Walker is focused on is the one to help the private sector create 250,000 new jobs," said Cullen Werwie, Walker's spokesman.
And in Arizona, where voters just recalled Republican State Senator Russell Pearce over the "Papers, please" law, the recall movement has shifted its attention to Republican Governor Jan Brewer.
(Wisconsin photos below: @dimmerswitch/Flickr. Regarding the Republican, 24 percent of GOP voters told a recent poll they're for recalling Governor Walker.)

Get the Cylon out of the governor's office.
I do hope he goes, but who takes his place? Is there a new election as took place in California, a Lt. Governor assuming the office or what? And, though I think it would be difficult, if some already in-place person rises into the job could the cure be as bad (or worse) than the disease?
NextMSNBCStar: Once the required signatures are gathered, a recall election takes place with a candidate, therefore a newly elected governor to finish the term and not an appointed replacement.
Ergo no Gerald Ford pardons. Yippee!
Thank you. That puts my mind at ease.
I think it is high time that people are coming to their senses and getting rid of the destructive politicians!!!!
It's America's response to being told "let them eat cake"!!!
Power to the people!!
I think the republican motto is Let Them Eat Fake.
recall movement has shifted its attention to Republican Governor Jan Brewer.
that be a great thing for AZ.
well the radical right may have lie there way into office, but the forgot once they get there the lies will not work once the people are exposed to their lies.
We The People are here and we have started the process of getting America back from the ANIO`s!!!!!!!
American In Name Only!
Where do I sign? I live in Tempe, AZ....please...where do I sign to recall that nutcase Jan Brewer?
I'm in Tucson ready to sign!!!!!!!!
Yay! Restores my faith in humanity it does!
I've been trying to find out too Kimber and Jerome. If you find it, pls post here. Thanks
Now if only the recall effort to recall the Dictator of Michigan had had more time to gather signatures. Next time, for sure..!
woooooohooooooo.....!! get walker & brewer clowns out!!
We can't do it in Florida...we already elected a corrupt Gov...that was how he got into office.
We are working on our voter suppression laws....that we can do
We have to organize to get recall legislation in Florida passed.
Voter suppression + Occupy Movement = FUNFUNFUN!!! Hijinks and hilarity ensue.
I think beyond anything else, the arrogance of the GOP is really hard to take. I hope Walker is booted out. "Not paying attention," eh? He will have to if the people speak loud enough. And Jan Brewer deserves the same. She can't even express herself in an interview. Kind of like a female Perry. Where did all these incompetents come from?
Where did all these incompetents come from?
the now defunct Reapublican Party.
Pilotshark, I hope you are right on the "defunct" part.
well it sure is not the republican party that really was for being about America.
that one is defunct.
the Republiecants well they seem to be doing just fine in the killing it self off part.
It's hard to see where the Republican Party goes from here. OWS seems to have smashed through, or is in the process of smashing through, a psychological barrier. For decades, under threat of Republican bullying, there has been no conversation in the country about issues such as social and economic justice. But those are things most people care about, even if they are buying into the negative propaganda concerning Occupy. People are starting to talk opening about these issues, even a few conservatives. If this keeps up, standard Republican rhetoric will become increasingly out of step with public discourse. So far, their only response is to double-down on their standard talking points. If they fail to adapt, they perish. If they do adapt, they've lost the debate.
The coming months and years should be fun.
Preaching to the choir. The whole Reagan Project was wrong from the start. The Johnson Great Society reforms had only about 15 yrs before they were entirely undone by Reagan. We've had that bastard's ideology for the past 30 and it was a disaster from the start. We need to set the clock back over 30 yrs before we even have a CHANCE of survivng as a nation.
Our country has been headed the wrong way for a very long time.
If these Gov.'s had run and been honest about their agendas, we would not be here today. The reason they weren't honest is because they know, they would never have been elected. So they have only themselves to blame. And Walker concentrating on jobs, since when? He is still lying, when you lie you have to keep lying to cover the first lie!
If they had been honest about their agendas they'd have been laughed out of the running and pelted with rotten vegetables. Evidently the Koch's thought their deep pocket could fund criminal after criminal in office...but Ohio showed their money is buying less and less. They will find other ways to try to rig the system. And unless the legislation legalizing money laundering is repealed, they'll succeed.
And the Kochs have been exposed. (Double-entendre intended.) Secrecy has worked well for them, but now they have to operate under public scrutiny. They are still being covert, but people know they're there. People are talking about them. Including Republicans. Including Republican candidates for President.
Secrecy is to the Kochs like his hair was to Samson. Publicity is like a razor to the Kochs.
Whenever I get discouraged about the deep pockets of the Koch Bros etc. and their allies the Supreme Court, I think about the fact that two Republican billionaires Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorino were defeated in California despite spending millions of their own money. Education is the antidote to lying ads that appeal to the stupidity of voters. Which may explain why the Republicans are withholding so much money from teachers and education.
We need to roll back educational reform all the way back to the Johnson Great Society Programs. Anyone can see how well the Reaganite attacking of public education has served us.
Meanwhile, WI Republicans want recall elections to be held in newly redrawn districts that go into effect in 2012 and Democrats are demanding that the recall elections be held in the old districts. Court cases are pending.

The people elected these duplicitous, inane, self aggrandizing Republicans. If you were one of them the rest of us forgive you. Once in a while we are all looking for someone to speak our thoughts, our feelings and to our needs. Sometimes liars speak louder than the truth-tellers, and a big, deep-moneyed pocket of outsiders will speak loudest of all and the truth is lost to them. We all need to come together and get these fools out and let them join the unemployed and those on food stamps and those in shelters, except these folks don't know what it is like to really be hungry and cold and ill, and without help to keep going. They are the real reason this country is so separated, the haves from the have nots.
Hopefully my fellow Kentucky residents wake up and smell the stink that is Rand Paul and vote his ass out in the next election--i dobt we can recall him yet.
Amusing little note: Lexington, KY had an occupy protest this week. Wish i had known about it--only about 12 people showed up though. I got pics sent to me from my school. How cool!
well you should be pushing for Mitch to be Voted out on his ass.
then you can work on aqua budda Paul.
McConnell is for the Norquest 1st; Party 2nd; Kentucky 3rd; Not certain where country ranks, remember his contributors.
As an old hippie I am THRILLED to see action revived! I want to see the entire population 'just say no' to these fascists. And the idiots who voted for them need to stay home.
But what is she going to do now that pierce got booted out! just where will she get her bigotry at now.
cause we all know she has crap for brains.
JUSTICE
Brewer Prepares To Reimpeach Election Official Who Was Illegally Fired For Making Arizona Elections Too ‘Competitive
wait come to think of it Brewer had her Impeached not fired.
so how can she reimpeached?
oh well it is the wild wild AZ west.
How much you want to bet she'll enlist JT Ready and his crew for her personal security detail?
I'm not quite sure it is idiots that voted them in. From my observations, Americans are notoriously deficient in memory retention. They expect things to happen NOW and if they don't happen NOW, then they allow others to tell them how THEY (the others) can make it happen NOW. So, they listen to the lies, hoping with all they've got that those lies aren't really lies and they vote for the liars, again hoping with all they've got that they didn't really lie and that they meant what they said. Then, when they find out that the liars LIED, (OMG!), they get all upset and start to go back to the original set of politicians. And that see-saw goes on, getting a bigger swing to it with every election.
So the truth is, we have only ourselves to blame, for not remembering long enough.
Governor Walker has been the best friend to progressives. I don't think OWS would have ever occurred without the protests in Madison, Wisconsin. We should thank him for creating these protests and for triggering recalls of other politicians. The Republicans have overreached and now are looking at very large losses that will reverse their gains in 2010. Money cannot buy off voter anger.
Exactly right!
For those wondering about Arizona's practices, a Governor removed by recall or impeachment (and we got rid of one 20 years ago that way) is replaced by the Secretary of State. Unlike the usual practice with Governor/Lt. Governor, the two offices are totally separate and often filled by people of opposite parties.
Most recently, when Janet Napolitano (D) stepped down to take a Federal Cabinet post, she was replaced by Jan Brewer (R) -- the one next in line for replacement. Twenty years ago, we replaced Governor Evan Mecham by impeachment, and Rose Mofford (who had served very ably as Secretary of State since 1977) took the office. She was making the usual courtesy visits in Washington when, before the Senate Interior Committee, she ran into a grilling that she wasn't prepared for. It turns out that John McCain had called in a favor to make her look bad; he was famously quoted as saying that he would do anything to make a Democrat look bad.
Despite his efforts, Governor Mofford is generally regarded as one of the best Arizona has had in quite a while.
What is the point of having a Lt. Governor?
I believe feathers, a fence post, rope, and a tar kettle would have been cited in the background if these pictures were from 100 years ago.
I am so glad every politician that represents me is democrat.
I wish I could say the same. I am so proud of Minnesota's two senators, Senator Al Franken and Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Sadly, our representative in the House is John Kline, whom I will work tirelessly to unseat the next time he stands for election. He defines JERK.
Not, Paying Any Attention, as I would learn through painful experience will leave you with nothing but a handful of, Troubled Debt!
I wish I had something to say other than post my funny video, but I dont. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs7fJ6jAOVU CAIN DANCE is pretty much my answer to a lot of stupidity today..
I wonder what the White House really thinks about these re-calls and Occupy movements.
Do they think it will help the Dems come election time, or will it, as I have heard, be a close race? I wish with all my heart it will be a Democrat sweep. The Country needs the right people in the right places, otherwise we'll never get healthy again.
IMHO, there is only one man who is qualified to govern, and he's already in Office. And the laws need to be more stringent about who is qualified to be a Congressperson.
Amen! Not to mention serious campaign reform overturning the Supreme Court garbage decision.
Check out "getmoney out.com" and the Warren Buffet amendment. Both badly needed.
Thanks, gramapoet, I checked out the website and signed the petition. I have always thought all political campaigns should begin with a level playing field. Let the candidates run on their merits, character, platforms, etc. and may the best man win.
"The love of money is the root of all evil" and that is so apparent in politics where corruption is rampant. Money can buy almost everything - except honor, decency, intelligence, wisdom.
Okay, it may be spurious, but just think about it.
If the House of Representatives and the Senate are the Temples of the People, then where would the moneychangers table be? Outside the Temples, in the lobbies. Who is out in the lobby? The Lobbyists. The money men. And what did Christ think about these guys? He knocked their tables over! True now as always. Nothing ever changes.
Good one Don.
