Romney can't really afford to make this campaign about facts. If that happens, he becomes the guy who made a fortune closing businesses and putting people out of work, running against the community organizer, who took a Harvard education into the Chicago ghetto, working to find people jobs, prepare kids for college and open opportunities where before, they didn't exist. If Romney is serious about making a run for the presidency, he's got to run on mysticism. He needs conjured enemies, terrorist rabbits and he has to hold the election in the land of Oz. Of course, he knows that, so expect to see him release the Krakens.
That's how Republicans knew there was wide spread voter fraud. They were the ones committing it.

When Mitt Romney first rolled out his campaign, he was boldly claiming to have created over 100,000 new jobs. Then when it was pointed out that the claims were inaccurate, he eventually backed away from the unsubstantiated claim and instead claimed to have created tens of thousands of jobs. When this claim was also shown to be untrue, his ads then offered that he had created thousands of jobs. Now on the campaign trail, Romney simply states that he knows how to create jobs. If this pattern continues, by midsummer his Jobs claim will be reduced to having once almost met Steve Jobs.
Wow, that's some list o' links! Your new TRMS motto: "All the News That Fits!". :)
Thanks for your piece on satire. I admit I was sucked in. I actually thought the Republican Presidential race was for real! Duh!
I think Mitt Romney's biggest problem is that when he opens his mouth words come out.
Rachel, your piece on Rick Santorum defending drug companies in contrast to Obama's remarks at the prayer breakfast simply did not go far enough. Offering access to health care has been an intimate part of Christian ministry since Jesus walked the earth. For the religious right to claim in the same breath to be motivated by their faith and then to deny access to health care to people is to acknowledge that their faith is not in the Christian religion of tradition but rather in the free market capitalism civil religion of the USA. The universal health care system in Canada is credited to Tommy Douglas, a Baptist minister before he turned politician. A recent survey of Canadians as to whom they see as the greatest Canadian selected Mr. Douglas largely due to his link to universal health care. Why not ask Mr. Santorum why abortion rates are lower in Canada and Europe (where women have access to health care)? Why not ask Mr. Santorum why it is alright for babies to die because their mothers can't access neo-natal care (and so the USA rates for neo-natal fatalities equals that of a developing country)? Why not ask Mr. Santorum why the right to life does not extend to the right to access to medical care which would allow people to live after they are born? To run on an anti-abortion campaign in a country that allows children to die because their parents can't afford medical costs while drug companies and hospitals are for-profit ventures is not following in the footsteps of Jesus or the church that his followers founded.
