This is almost to the point of ridiculous, when President Obama has followed our very own constitution where it is the people themselves choose what religious principles they want to follow without the influence of any church dictating on what should be done. Remember our forefathers saying a separation of church and state is a good thing and should be followed. That it is the people themselves who will choose what they want and what values or principles they want to follow. Letting any church have an influence on what people want to do would be an outright violation of our Constitution or more specific any organization that would want to dictate something beyond the will of the people. This issue is directly related to the rights and freedoms of the American People who have the right to choose what they want.
I don't think the term "super-PAC" is in the Constitution. Corporate money is a corrupting influence on our democracy, whether via the cash flowing through PAC's, , through anonymous contributions to shadowy "independent" organizations that run false and baseless attack advertisements on behalf of Republicans or more traditional donations from the Wall Street elite to Obama's reelection campaign, the explosion of money in politics is distressing. The key to true reform in America is to eradicate all private donations and give every candidate a level playing field, free of special interests. http://www.sunstateactivist.org

It is unfortunate that Obama has to work with a SuperPac (even though, as I understand it, they are going to disclose all donors). But, it seems pretty inevitable-- otherwise he's bringing a knife to a gun fight. If that's the way politics works right now, how can you deliberately handicap yourself by trying to stay above the fray? If he chooses to take a stand against SuperPac money, it would be just what the democrats have been doing for a long time-- holding to the sane and reasonable line when the republicans in congress have learned a long time ago to fight dirty-- and how is that working out for the democrats? It's only recently that Obama stood up to the Republicans and he is gaining ground. It's great to theoretically be above it all, but this is the reality and we have a lot to lose!
He really doesn't seem to need a Super PAC since his campaign plans on spending $1 Billion alone. Remember, he set the record for $$ in the 2008 run (750 Million) and he will break that record.
Republican Super PACs are divided at the moment and I'm sure some of their more wealthy donors are holding back for the fall. With the floodgates broken, it wouldn't have been a knife to a gun fight, it'd be a knife to a tank fight. Not to mention that if the Republican primary goes all the way to the convention that's a ton of free press.
You may be right Jon, but in recent history the Democrats have still outspent the Republicans nationwide - even in the 2010 midterms by a slight margin. And as I stated above, the POTUS blew away McCain in 2008. Unless the Republican Super PACs raise an astronomical amount of cash, it looks like it will still be close spending wise between the two parties. I just don't see a huge advantage for the Republicans that everyone else seems to see. Billions will be spent by BOTH parties.
It's just my personal experience but when a mayor of a sizable Indiana city can run her entire campaign on the donations from just two people while her opponent has to scrape together donations from the entire county just to come close...well, I just don't see how Republicans are outmatched.
The catholic church has spent decades going against their own beliefs by protecting known child molesters.IMHO they have lost the right to be outraged

Regarding Catholics vs Birth Control Coverage and California's Prop 8, mainly funded by Evangelicals and the Mormon Church - So, Religions CAN 'interfere' (block) the Government's policies, but the Government Can NOT 'interfere' with Religious policies?
Nowhere does the "Insurance paying for Birth Control' REQUIRE any Catholic to Supply or Use birth control, it only requires that it be included in the medications that are paid for by their insurance policies. It allows the individual, regardless of their religious belief, to exercise their Free Will, and gives them the option to make a Choice, Right or Wrong. Being 'Good', or 'Holy', or 'Without Sin' does NOT mean eliminating choices, it means making the 'Right' choice!
If you're stranded alone on a desert island you have effectively removed the possibility of violating 'Thou shalt not Kill', 'Thou shalt not Steal', 'Thou shalt not commit Adultery', 'Thou shalt not Covet thy neighbors Wife', 'Thou shalt not Covet thy neighbors Goods', and 'Thou shalt not Bear False Witness against thy neighbor' - No Neighbors, No Options, No Choices - Not violating these SIX of the Ten Commandments doesn't make you a Good, or Holy, or 'Sin Free' person, it just means you have No Opportunities to sin! Doing 'The Right Thing' involves Free Will, Having and Making Good Choices, and Resisting Temptation.
I say, let Catholics exercise their Free Will, Resist Temptation, and CHOOSE to do 'The Right Thing', according to their own beliefs and conscience - don't take that choice away from them.
Re: Ticker Tape Parade - I hope that there is at least some acknowledgement of the contributions of our Veterans, Servicemen and Women, who put their lives on the line, to give these Football Players a Safe and Free Country, where they can compete in their Sport, for a Hell of a Lot more Money than our Veterans and Military gets paid!
A simple 'Thank You!' would be a nice start, and won't cost anyone a penny. We all owe them so much more.

How dare Mayor Bloomberg have a parade for a team that doesn't even play in New York. The last time I looked Giants Stadium was located in Secaucus, which is in New Jersey.
If Mayor Bloomberg wants to host a parade, let him host one for the Iraq Vets and let the Jersey Governor host a parade for the Giants, since they play in New Jersey.
