with no redeeming medical support, and patients saying NO, how is transvaginal ultrasounds not RAPE?
So glad to see so much Richmond In the show. I was at the protest today, let it to be known that we here in Richmond are not as crazy as our general assembly.
"Forced" and "Without Consent" sounds like Rape to me any way you look at it.
And please explain to me why Men, would at anytime not want a women to have every possible means to health care....FOR HER HEALTH......All the people on this earth....AND NOT ONE MAN has EVER carried a baby in his body for ANY length of time.....as long as man has existed......
never have I had my water break, or have had contractions, or a cycle every month or push ANYTHING having a great deal of weight out of me either .....and nor would EVER want to experince that either..
Get real man......contraceptives.....when they have a new outbreak of herpes simplex 74 and no of the republicans are seen in public or hidding their faces, bet they'd change the law back then.
You may want to avoid turning this debate into another "men are scum" discussion. That rhetoric is old and false. Generalities like that weaken your points, and worse, makes you guilty of the same kind of negative rhetoric the men who are pushing these kinds of bills are using to stereotype women. Besides, you don't need it. These movements, contraception debate, mandatory ultrasounds and personhood amendments, already come across as madness for anyone who cares about individual liberties and social equality.
A better question is why are so many conservative women supporting this? Why are women (in general) supporting legislative rape? The DEMOCRAT party should be appalled but they are not. DEMOCRAT women are just as subservient as CONSERVATIVE women. That's why Hillary is Secretary of State and not President. Women need to step up! Instead, women allow the abuse of a male dominated society.
Same with GAYS. They sit and hide behind their shame. Take jobs as sheriffs, run for office, hide their gay lovers, threaten to deport their gay lovers, go to parks and trucker bathrooms to engage in wide stances. WHY? Heck, even when gay marriage is legal they REFUSE to get married to their partner.
J.Edgar
What are your FACTS that "so many conservative women supporting this? Why are women (in general) supporting legislative rape? The DEMOCRAT party should be appalled but they are not. DEMOCRAT women are just as subservient as CONSERVATIVE women"...
Hillary ran for President and WE chosee President Obama... You see being Sec.of State as a lesser position...Personally, I, think the two of them make a great TEAM... I'm delighted Hillary is our Secretary of State...
QUOTE: "Heck, even when gay marriage is legal they REFUSE to get married to their partner"... Hetro Marriage has been Legal for years and still Hetro's choose to live together...
women with power, please step foward and demand equal rights for the women of america. if you do not,we will not have the power .maybe not even the power to vote these men who want to take our rights away out of office, and maybe even have a woman president.what would the suits in Washington think of that.they like the idea of barefoot and pregnant.lets go back to the good old days and do exactly what men tell us to do.I THINK NOT.
kurbaba from va.
WOMEN??? I'm a 70 year old "white" MALE and I, will vote every Republican that, I, have the opportunity to, out of Office... To betray/undermine WOMEN is to do us all... This is NOT just a WOMEN'S issue!
Odd that there hasn't been a peep about vasectomies. Anywhere.
Now, I'm not in the betting business, but I would almost guarantee that church-owned hospitals, et al, have been covering vasectomies for YEARS.
Seems like a point to me.
Rachel, thank you for the extensive research and inside truths you BRAVELY report to us daily. We really need to know these truths. If I didn't get it from you [or maybe one of our other awesome MSNBC Anchors], I'd probably be as ignorantly blind as those listening to the Fox news channel where conservative Anchors, republican candidates and other republican and conservative speakers come on to spew "utter lie" or put their own spin on issues to sway the listeners to believe pure bulls...! I APPRECIATE YOU GIRL!! Sorry it's taken so long to say so.
Rachel, parades are fine, for the little ones, mostly, and for the adult flag wavers and their false meme's of 'patriotism', but do you hear, including yourself, anyone Demanding that the Country Finally 'Sacrifice' as to the results of these wars and while one, the main mission and promises to it's people abandoned long ago, continues in the slow draw down! The only ones consistently trying to do for the Soldiers still being sent and their families as well as the Veterans of are those in and with the present executive administration branch and it's cabinet as the country once again yawns and mostly ignores. Parades don't create the VA that should have always been, especially as the country arrogantly cheers on these wars of choice, they don't address the many, now decades long to last, issues as to the results of our wars and those few who serve the country. Fully funding the VA would save the country money from the much higher costs of needing to constantly play catchup as many of those in congress, the peoples reps. continue to lay blame on the agency, they are the ones who should be leading the call, Demand, for Sacrifice, especially by the wealthy!
No Revenues = No Sacrifice = No Support = DeJa-Vu all over again!. Now a decade and counting added to the previous decades of under funding the VA, while the peoples reps Still try and lay blame on the Agency, after rubber stamping wars and costs of and those represented cheer on these wars!
While the wealthy and other investors garner their booty, still, from both and many have the chutz·pa to call themselves more patriotic{?} then others wrapped in those false flags, using false slogans and various cheap symbols of!
USN '67-'71 All Shore GMG3 Vietnam In Country '70-'71
Keep in mind, as to stay recent, the country gave the parades and the New York parade for the first Gulf War Vets, even inviting us 'Nam Vets to participate, and then thousands of those veterans start suffering from unknown reasons which was givin the name 'Gulf War Syndrome'. Not only suffering from but dying from over these years since, parades held, flags waved, we're #1 yelled................,hardly a mention of the 'Syndrome' except that it didn't exist, think Agent Orange from Vietnam and PTS from Vietnam as well as before and since, including within the civilian population. Until this new Veterans Administration and while still being underfunded while the Defense Budgets have continued their ever normal rise and for these wars rubber stamped off the budget and all on the countries credit card till added by the present administration. What did these Parades do for those Veterans and their Families?
Surrendering Jim?
Rachel & staff. Thank you so much for the wonderful coverage of Richmond and the clip of Sen Murray. I thought you might be interested in the new facebook group "Organizing Against the War on Women." Over 2400 members in the first day! FYI, I didn't organize this...I'm just a member. Again, thanks for all you guys do.
Facebook group organizing against the war on women.
Mission Statement:
Help defend women’s rights and pursuit of equality. Join Americans all over the United States on April 28th, 2012, as we come together as one to tell members of Congress in Washington DC and legislators all over the country..."enough is enough"! All people should have the freedom to make medical decisions about their own care and well-being without intrusions from government, business or religious ideologies. Individuals and families have the right to choose, or reject birth control, and to determine the size of their family based on their own beliefs and values without intrusions.
AMERICANS have the strength, the courage and the moral fortitude to make reasonable choices without interference from self-serving political interests, religious groups or employers.
Everyone is welcome to join, plan, and march as we stand together and demand that every person be granted equal opportunities, equal rights, and equal representation.
Republicans in Congress are trying to compromise on this contraception issue. Their compromise is in the form of a new law requiring all women of child bearing age to wear chastity belts until they are married.Notable exceptions are women who serve as aides to republican lawmakers and C-street coeds servicing same.
No one should be under any illusions about the true purpose of the Virginia legislation and other similar bills proposed across the country. These laws are nothing but tactics. The strategy behind them is the certainty that one or more will be challenged in court. This, in turn, will provide the U.S. Supreme Court with an opportunity to overturn Roe v. Wade, a very real possibility IMHO.

Rachel, every time you go at Politifact I pull up the entry in question and promptly side with Politifact. At most, I disagree with their final "rating" of the statement. In this case I probably would have went with half true as it had the right idea but no one compared it with the actual Welfare program.
I think it makes you look silly to go chasing a fact checking site's tail every time they disagree with you.
Rachel;
If you're going to wail on Politifact.org, you need to first give some background on why we should give a damn about another political website. Is this some magical website that everyone relies on and believes in that has now gone to seed? I never heard of the site before; now I'm supposed to be all upset that it's been infected by Republitards.
And I still love you.
