Gingrich intends to stick around for a long while.
Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* With comments that will delight the Mitt Romney campaign, Newt Gingrich told an Alabama radio station this morning, "I'm going to be all the way to Tampa. There's no question in my mind."
* On a related note, Romney told an Alabama radio station yesterday that campaigning in Alabama and Mississippi represents "a bit of an away game" for the former Massachusetts governor.
* Romney also picked up a key Mississippi endorsement yesterday, getting the support of Gov. Phil Bryant (R).
* In Nebraska, Chuck Hassebrook (D) ended his U.S. Senate bid yesterday, standing aside for former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D), who surprised many by jumping into the race last week.
* The Republican National Committee raised a healthy $11.3 million in February, thanks in large part to the return of major donors. The Democratic National Committee has not yet released its monthly figures.
* Republicans can probably cross Maine off their list of possible swing states --- PPP shows President Obama leading Romney in the Pine Tree State by 23 points.
* If the Republican presidential nominating race is still underway in June, it appears Romney has the edge in California's GOP primary.
* And for whatever reason, the Romney campaign continues to utilize Donald Trump in robocalls. Trump spokesman Michael Cohen said yesterday, "Voters across the United States should expect a call from Donald Trump praising Mitt Romney."

Mitt wanted an 'Afro' in college but was told by his handlers that slavery was illegal.
I still can't decide if Trump just can't see how ridiculous he is, or if this is just the greatest ratf*ck in history. Either way, I know I like it.

Steve, I know you have no control over these types of things, and Rachel probably doesn't get much input either. However, I would appreciate it if either one of you could try to get a rationale or justification for continuing to feature the leader of a known hate group on your network so often.
I watch A LOT of MSNBC, and I have never saw this guy on! Do you have them confused with FOX?
I'm completely speculating here, but if Gingrich does stay in the race after next week, despite poor showings in upcoming contests, I can't help but wonder if his sugar daddy, Adelson, actually agreed to continue financing Gingrich with the caveat that Gingrich must stay in the race to prevent Santorum from becoming the nominee.
After all, Adelson did state that his SuperPac will not be running ads against Romney, and keeping Gingrich in the race would be an effective a pro-Romney strategy.
Whether deliberate or not, Adelson demonstrates that SuperPacs can and do influence the outcome of elections. Sadly, we live in a plutocracy.
Gingrich will be "in it" as long as Nelson Adelson needs him to be. As long as Gingrich's presence is enough to keep Santorum from winning primaries against Mitt, Newt will continue to cash checks.
Should Newt's ability to strip votes from Santorum diminish, however, the gravy train will come to a screeching halt.
So ole Gingrich has sold himself out as a mere carnival barker...wouldn't have believed his knees could bend that deeply, or his pride.
Perhaps the green dye in the money that they handle so often has finally made it into their bloodstream and has caused a momentary or monumental lapse in good judgement. This could also explain Rmoneys' behavior.
OMG! I'm holding my breath waiting for THE Donald to call me..... Waiting.....waiting.....oops forgot....I'm a Democrat! RATS!
Gingrich is making a big mistake. If Gingrich loses Alabama and Mississippi and stays in the race, then the populist conservatives will blame him for handing the nomination to Romney. They will view him as a Judas.
The Gingrich Campaign has made another big mistake. They claim that Romney is an outrageous liar for claiming that he is a true conservative and that Gingrich is not a true conservative - and that is a very valid argument. However, the Gingrich Campaign is now (unbelievably) claiming that Santorum is not a conservative! Thus, now that it's politically convenient for Gingrich to lie about Santorum, he is telling the same lie about Santorum that Romney told about him! It's pretty hard to get any sympathy complaining about a rival candidate lying about you if you're going around telling the same lie about another one of your rival candidates. Gingrich has also revealed the fact that he is lying when he claims that it is his priority to ensure that the "Massachusetts Moderate" Romney does not get the nomination. What Gingrich should be doing is defending both Santorum and himself from the outrageous carpet-bombing of the "Massachusetts Moderate" Romney - but expediency has trumped principle.
