In the wake of Rick Santorum accusing the Fox News Channel of "shilling" for Mitt Romney, the former governor, as Rachel noted last night, has "decided to make Fox News feel awkward about the charge by suddenly agreeing to do a ton of interviews on Fox News Channel shows."

Romney talks with Fox News' Megyn Kelly this week.
This got me thinking -- just how many times has Romney appeared on Fox this week? Let's review:
* Monday: Romney visited with "Fox & Friends" in the morning, followed by an interview with Fox's Neil Cavuto in the afternoon.
* Wednesday: Romney was interviewed by Fox's Megyn Kelly in the afternoon.
* Thursday: Romney sat down with Fox's Bill Hemmer in the morning, appeared on Fox Radio in the afternoon, then talked to Fox's Sean Hannity in the evening.
* Friday: Romney appeared again on "Fox & Friends."
* Sunday: Romney will appear again on "Fox News Sunday" this weekend, just three weeks after his last appearance on the same show.
There was a point last summer at which Romney was so reluctant to talk to anyone in media that folks started joking about the "Mittness Protection Program." Six months later, Romney finally appears willing to field some media questions, but curiously, he seems especially interested in speaking to one network.
I wonder why that is.
Media Matters published a fascinating report a few weeks ago called "The Fox Primary," documenting the extent to which the network practically owns the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Romney's media schedule this week seems to reinforce the point nicely.

And nary a one would have the guts to face the scariest person on the planet... Rachel. Booga Booga Booga!
Rachel came out on top of Inhofe like Carter came out on top in the debates with Reagan. Really, Reagan's responses were pathetic on substance.
But that's not what matters to the people in the center whom folksy anecdotalists like Inhofe and Reagan make friends with. Sure, critical thinkers listened for how Inhofe and Maddow responded to points. Inhofe's were evasive and diversionary. Maddow's were to the point and devastating to Inhofe's positions.
It doesn't matter how sad it is that the voters who swing elections are heavily influenced by theater rather than substance. It just means that progressives have to walk and chew gum, delivering both substance and good theater.
It merges disciplines- hmmm Opera? Oh no- I just had a hilarious image of Rachel as Brunhilde- complete with horn helmet and breastplates she wears kind of like those vaudeville comedians wearing barrels with straps over the shoulders to hold it up.
The cheerful warrior. I don't suppose we will ever get that bit of self parody on TRMS, but maybe if she ever hosts SNL.
Anyway, the interview was a good effort but centrists watching the Inhofe interview would not seen anything revelatory. Not that Inhofe say some ridiculous things.
EG: "Nature magazine, a very liberal publication on your side." Liberal??? Nature is a peer reviewed science journal- the most cited interdisciplinary science journal in the world. (source) The huge irony is that we cannot see that cultural periods actually overlap by centuries, and that Inhofe is speaking as if rules of empiricism do not exist. He uses evidence that violate even simple rules of observation that Aristotle layed down. It is because he does not trust his senses (as Aristotle did) to deliver new information. Inhofe's way of looking at the world is very medieval, and I do not mean that in the derogatory sense. He really is not interested in empiricism as a vehicle for understanding the truth. Perceptions and data for him are confirmatory information of a transcendent idea revealed to him.
In the case of global warming, he happens to share that transcendent idea with the Koch brothers, and the substantial coal and oil industries.
Brunhilde will set them straight with her gaiety.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody. I am pretty psyched about seeing Ezra do Up!. Should be reality bending. I am betting he will set new records for numbers of charts displayed in one news program. Perhaps he will even get in an animated one.
Inhofe was happy to be on any show to sell his book. He was divisive with the Liberal publication, your side our side, I love liberals like you and Barbara Boxer (me too). that side, the other side. I don't want to talk about being bought and paid for by fossil industry, I just want us to be self sufficient, but those subsidies to solar and wind are expensive, but the oil industry is just …. uh what, Inhofe?
Then, I think I caught a "your president" stammer stifled to become "the president" at 9:16 in Part One.
Indeed, he evaded the question about 97% of scientists should be ignored to highlight what 3% think.
I listen to the possibility of having money interest in a hoax, but totally overriding that point is the point that those businesses are paying money to our politicians and surely other countries to maintain their business interests and profits.
I find the whole thing to be fascist and classic denial.
In no way has Obama said he wanted to terminate the oil exploration, that is what he said Obama said?
This is what we have come to… extremism... with the middle getting pushed out, when most folks are in the middle, including Obama.
To me, it is extreme to think God does not want people to protect the earth, if we have cleaner safer fuels available why not use them?
Who is influencing the argument more? the oil, coal and gas industry, looks to me... and using God for a front.
He relates better to PHONEY news. He just isn't ready for the real news stations yet. If he is elected (God forbid) you will never see this guy, just like Bush.
In Other News, Mitt sits down and answers wide-ranging questions about dogs, cars, trees, and his Last Will and Testament from Anne and the children.
Oh I get it.
CNN and MSNBC are too "objective" to report that FOX is an infomercial channel for the GOP.
Perfect. The media cannot report on "itself". Get a grip. They are not competitors for news reporting. Though some may be former colleagues, they are not peers. The business as different from yours as a soap opera production company is.
If this was a coal mining company engaging in dishonest business practices that led to calamities, CNN and MSNBC would have no trouble covering the story. But Fox is accorded professional immunity.
The only ones who have any coverage of FOX's propaganda activities reported as such is Current TV (which comes off sounding like a perpetual rant), and Comedy Central who can't report the full humorless story in all its darkness.
the irony is that even Romney's Fox interviews dont go well, often resulting in heated moments whre he seems to feel betrayed if they serve him anything but a softball, and gaffes from Mittens.
Inhofe is right. The earth will repair itself. Unfortunately it will have to divest itself of most of humanity and our artifacts to accomplish this. Good luck to all of his grand kids.
He needs to stay in the Bubble
That was a fun interview last night. Rachel was totaly respectful--perhaps to a fault. My brother and I were cheering when ever she could get a point in through all his ramblings. I was also highly aware of the fact that he never really answered the question about his view on the Uganda bill. Anyway, I hope this trend of republican interviews continues. Well done Rachel!
That's one thing I like about the Maddow show, she is always polite. I noticed too her, trying to get in a word, but he made himself look like a partisan gas bag, politely belching your side, my side…evading the obvious who is funding your anti alternative energy stance and pro fossil fuel and what was your involvement with Uganda kill the gays law?
I loved how Rachel's face got more and more confused as the interview went on. I think she was expressing how we felt also. Also, I liked the expression on Inhoffs' face when she mentioned The Koch Brothers and Exxon etc... you could see the wheels going around inside his head scrambling for some answer. I was glad that she found the opportunity to bring to light the Uganda issue. I believe this was a great tactic being it was more important than Global warning, hopefully we still have time to fix it. But, you can't fix what they're doing in Uganda.
