Watching the Rachel Maddow show at this moment and want to thank you for telling the truth about the constant lies coming out of the mouth of Mitt Romney the Etch a Sketch candidate.
I watched and waited for Rachel to show one of Mitt's lies that let me know he is a casual liar who lies just like breathing. She did not mention it but do you remember in an early CNN debate he told Wolf Blitzer his first name was Mitt even when everyone knows his first name is Willard. That was a casual unnecessary lie that a person with a pathological lying problem would do. Lying Liars who tell LIES!
Thank you Rachael . . . someone finally said the word "LIE"!!!! with what these repugnicans are saying . . Mitt Romney LIES!!! Thank you, Thank you, thank you!!! MSNBC and CNN should make this a BIG story . . please!! I can't stand all the lying!!
Yep...Romney's a chronic liar....He most likely lies so much he doesn't even know what the truth is.....He's most likely been this way all his life....."Awwww...that's just Mitt being Mitt".......
Where I grew up near Chattanooga, TN, they used to say "you'll go to Hell for lying".....I think Hell is an important qualification for politicians.....Mormons don't believe in Hell....my guess is that Governor Romney probably has obtained instant and eternal salvation in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints due most likely to his financial support......but hey, that's just my outsider's opinion....
However, the argument can still be made that his candidacy to be the GOP presidential nominee was a bad idea from the start....He will have better luck in 2016 on the Democratic ticket. Hey, why not..!?!? Just shake the board and start over, right...!?!?
Every time almost any Republican politician opens his/her mouth, the only thing that comes out is lies. This is not a new phenomenon, but I agree, Romney has taken it to a whole new level.
Preceding him have been some of the best!
Go back and listen to anything said by Bush Jr., Cheney, Rice, etc - you'll be hard pressed to find anything truthful that they've said, and I'm sure Mint's getting an earful of lies to repeat from Karl Rove, one of the best!
Romney, a liar?? A LIAR?? Yes, and with a straight face. But didn't Bush lie too, about the WOMDs. And he sent our young men and women to die in a ward that should not have been. If Romney belongs to the Bohemian Grove Club, he has already burnt "care", which means he does not care about anything as long as he achieves his agenda. Whether it is power, (which the GOP takes turns to do) and he will have the responsibility to make his cronies or club members sons and daughters richer. Whether we like it or not, if he wins the first he is going to do is to create policy that continues to distribute the bulk of the wealth of the country to a few CEO from insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, Social Security which will be privatize to hide the fact Bush borrowed from it and did not return the money. (and I say, if Clinton borrowed and did not pay back he should be tried also. Both for using money that did not belong to the general government operations fund.
So, the two top running candidates are liars. Gingrich does not have to be, and Paul does not have to lie. Those are both on the bottom, which mean they have not done too many promises to the top contributors and do not have a big machinery.
I was a repuppy but now I will vote Obama, the big O, the big kajuna. Let benevolence and compassion reign for a change.
Thank you so much for calling out Mitt Romney for lying. Serial, unabashed lying. And may I add, for being a robot. He's just gonna power down and reboot. Shake that etch-a-sketch and plot a whole new belief system. Contrast this with the amazing reaction that President Obama had when told by a young deaf man (in sign language), "I'm proud of you." And Obama signed back, "Thank you." This has been quite a day.
I worked with addicts for many years and they were honest enough to share how dishonesty was part and parcel of addiction. Many also admitted finding themselves lying for no good reason at all because it was habitual. I am not saying Mitt is an addict but it is obvious he lies consistently, easily and with no evidence of a conscience. I guess this is necessary to be a successful vulture capitalist but a president needs credibility with our allies, our enemies and certainly not least , the American people.
Romney was a corporate executive for many years. The mercifully few of that sort that I've met over the years seem to have all been like Romney: willing to say anything that they think is in their interest in any given moment, even if it is the polar opposite of what they said in the previous moment. If your highest purpose in life is serving the bottom line, then truth and lies are only commodities.
Remember when Science Officer Spock declared their situation as being checkmated ? Kirk countered that they may be playing poker instead of Chest. Different game ? Different Rules ??
No, not really. In the episode you're thinking of, Spock compared their situation to a game of chess. Kirk chose to see it as poker. That was just a difference of opinion, two different ways of evaluating the same circumstances. Kirk happened to be correct, because the whole crisis the Enterprise was in was only a gigantic bluff. In the case of corporates it's more like being in game of Calvinball or double cranko where there are no rules. Well, there's one rule: whatever benefits the guy in the most expensive suit .
Thank You! your first segment was brilliant. Why will no other News organization call him a liar? Today's lie "W's policies saved us from economic depression". I spent the afternoon writing fact check sites to ask why Mitt is given a free pass to Lie. And this is just the starrt.
I LOVED the first segment of the show tonight! I think another reason that no one has called Mitt a liar is it makes us personally uncomfortable to call another person a liar even if it is deserved.
I love the Etch-A-Sketch picture above. I wish I could use one!
Love that someone, you (and ,to a degree, Lawrence), FINALLY are using the politically orphaned word, LIE, to describe....the lies that this man and others are telling about all sorts of things all over the political landscape. I know that you've been describing their deceit for years, but it's so refreshing to hear someone use the word. You are one of my heros.
YES! YES! YOU'RE ON FIRE! YOU GO GAL! (yes I'm shouting, but with joy)
Please post your intro thesis separate on your website so I can easily reference it as a link when I email my wavering friends and acquaintances.
May the Truth be told! With luck and circumstance it will in the long term have some influence.

There are so many ramifications to Willard's continual lies. It's his arrogance and sense of superiority that he can lie so often and so easily. He shows no respect for those listening to him and he's assuming people are either stupid or gullible.
Someone above wrote that they didn't want to call him an addict. He is an addict. He's addicted to lying.
I suffer with Mitt’s exact same symptoms !!?? I sometimes do not tell the truth. But, darn it , I do not lie !! Ouch ! I am getting another headache !! Why ?? Or in Mitt"s case a little white contradiction.
Rachael, you are simply the best. No ambiguity or nuisanced remarks. No 'but what does she really mean' slights of verbal legerdemain- just the bold truth: Romney is a liar. No delicate pirouettes or ambiguous safe words such as ‘misleading’ or ‘in error’ or the less toxic ‘fib’- no, simply the man lies. Not only does he lie, he always lies. He is a congenital liar. Anyone who endorses Romney (Jeb Bush for example) is himself either inept or is endorsing a provable liar. That person then becomes an accomplice to the lies and so, by extension, a liar himself or herself.
Your program leads characteristically provide a uniquely incisive, and often surprising analysis of the day's most important political story, but today's, on what may be called the "Romney pathology" was a grand slam -- not least of all the Etch-A-Sketch-in-China tangent, and the pressures on cost leveled by Toys 'R Us, which just happens to be an asset in Bain's portfolio. John Foster Wallace couldn't have made that one up! This pathology of lying on matters small and large, with unabashed impunity and a cold disregard, seems to be a trait typical of self-proclaimed Masters of the Universe like Romney who are so secure in the rightness of their purposes (legitimized in their own minds, I suppose, by their accumulation of wealth) that they are willing to say anything, believing fundamentally that the ends -- their accumulation of power and the preservation of their wealth-- will always justify the means. I hope you continue to advance this narrative, because there is every indication from the way in which these primary battles have been won that the Romney campaign, with the help of Citizen's United, will run a relentlessly deceitful and negative campaign once the general election is upon is. Maybe, eventually, the "mainstream media" will play closer attention and follow your lead (though I often wonder why they don't).
something very scary just came to my minds eye. if willard mitterwald romney was to be installed. here is my prediction, remember that the election is just one week after halloween. minimum starting wages, $2.80 per hour. lots and lots of wages at this very globally competative wage. one big problem half the people would not be able to pay their debts, just like our goverment is not able to pay it"s debts. but do not leave your thoughts there, at the end of clinton, the bills were paid, attest that glorious time to the
fact that the taxes were in fact a little higher and we were not in two extra wars to promote the oil barons. and besides there was no tax scams on borrowed money we did not have as the wingers now mention after not paying the bills. i have a plan. put tarriffs an everthing, and tax all over $190,000 per year earnings, tax these
slve owners 57% until the debt and the deficit are paid down to perhaps 57 billion. after that tax them as clinton did, 39.9 %. that mustn have been one hell of a well thought out number because the
bills were being paid witch is the right thing to do, always. do not worry about nothing that is the magic number after the bills get paid. the 57% tax would need to last about thirty months. and another thing, why do we need to go through this again. promote labor unions. i remember 1968, labor unions about 37% membership, low inflation, about one and a half percent annaully, bills bing paid, a thriving middle class, unemployment at 3.8% our government paying the bills, housing cost middle class house about $25,000 property taxes about $300 per year. but then the greedy repugs needed a bigger pie so that they could be considered part of our civilization. nixon took us off the gold standard. that gave our government the formula to deregulate all commerce, expand the military footprint all over the world, make more enemies, repug nixon was not happy to only have power he need to have a chance to destroy the democrats by acting as a criminal. we started having lots of homeless people then, lots and lots of civil disobedience since then and this brought about the police state that we live under now. i tell you, republicans are no good, because they produce unwinable wars of all kinds, promote gunplay, push for high interest rates until people walk out own their bills, send young gung-ho kids to fight wars with what they have, not with what they need for their safety, did anyone say war was safe. send the mothers of children off to work because they do not know the asprin trick, profile you so that you may lose your voting rights, dismantle the middle class, run scams like derivatives world wide like to the tune of 666,000 trillion. hey pay attention, they do all this for their own pleasure, they throw a wrench into into working systems, just ask the postal service, ask the relatives of the drowning victoms of katrina in 2005, in the new orleans fiasco caused by inadequate funding to maintain and upgrade the levies. it was not the storm it was the high and heavy handed mentality of all repugs that cannot stand not to have their dumb and criminal schemes into all things that are allready working. voters never learn because they do not realize who is @!$%#ing them. that is always the first and most important thing that i need to know about my well being. look at how romney has to lie to get throgh the day. all this guy has ever done is run wages down to slave wages. if you do not believe this ask a chinese worker that may work 80-90 hours per week. there are times when these people weigh the thought is this worth living for. ask the workers all over the world who do not have environmental or health laws to keep them safe but sold their souls off to the idea of having a job. what could you expect from a guy that will ship your job to enrich himself and those in the same exploiting mentality to bring cheap products to our shores until you can no longer afford to. we can no longer afford this kind of stuff because it cause the same sorry results. some benifit tremendously, so die trying to satisfy the demand on their health, their soul or outright servitude for the plan. ask the people of siapan, u.s.a. were is that. that is the u.s.a. research that why don't you. it is all about miterwald, should it be all about mitterwald, mitt for short. don't let this guy cut you short because he will if given a chance. after all he embraces the idea of exploitation for his benefit. does this promote the aspect of
"to promote the general welfare". remember, i i trying to save your bacon, so be minful of one that studies history, studies patterns,
studies intentions, and listened to his father that said to me 65 years ago, these guys do the same things all the time. and he finished off the conversation by say at this time, look son we are eating breakfast now, i am working, and things could be a little better now but at least i have a job, and i can afford to treat you to breafast once in a while. when i got off the train in l.a. in early 1930, he said, i got off a train full of hbos and bums, and even though i wanted to work an had some skills, there was no jobs, i
like everyone in the half mile long soup line that i joined had pride, but i was hungry and i did not have a penny for the soup, they looked down at me and served me the soup anyway. doctors, lawyers, businessmen were in the soup lines. that was the only time that i remember having a commonality with people of this stature.
that is what i remember my dad for, and i am happy that he tought me the ways of the world and the habits of bought off republicans. they are paid to do this he told me. it is there business to get into government, to dismantle working systems, to lower wages and then to holler foul when things do not work out for them. after all, look at the bush two legacy, he thinks he did a great job, even though he did not pay for his chosen wars, the tax breaks and corruption were on the credit card. but here is the real travesty, even if you thought that the easter bunny would bring you more of the good life when you borrowed on your house, bought every thing on credit and failed to read the fine print that read that on a $2,000 balance, it would take you 39 months at $26.00 per month and the interest was in fact 29.2% interest. go to school . learn about these criminal activities that are allowed to flourish under the
laizze-faire no regulation type scemes that the republicans live for.
believe me, i cannot even mouth the worst word ever invented, repug, parden me, but i cannot get it out of my mouth. my mouth is too good for the mother @!$%#ers. AND ANOTHER THING, THE SUPREME COURT FINALLY LOWERED THE STANDARDS, THEY PROBABLY ARE JUST TRYING TO FIND OUT JUST HOW PISSED OFF PEOPLE ARE. TAKE I FROM A VERY ANALYITICAL, VERY THOUGHTFUL PERSON OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER, HARDWORKING, WELL MEANING, WE ARE PISSED. PISSED THAT IS.
This goes down with lines and lies like: President Hoover's - "Prosperity is just around the corner", and "A Chicken in every pot and a car in every garage ..." President Nixon's "I am not a crook ..." President Reagan's "America doesn't negotiate with terrorists", and President Clinton's line of " I - didn't - have - sexual relations with that girl ...."
Sorry to razz you, but your statements illustrate exactly the same problem so many on the right have: You don't recognize the difference between fact and opinion, which means you don't understand what a lie is.
A LIE involves facts, not opinions, kappock. Every quote you wrote is an opinion. Rachel made a point of focusing on facts. You -- and all of us -- should do the same. You LOSE THE ARGUMENT -- and make things worse -- when you conflate opinions to the level of truths. Obama's representative did say that unemployment wouldn't get above 8% if the stimulus passed. It did. Did the Obama administration lie about that? No. A prediction is an opinion. An opinion is not a fact. Lies are based on facts, not opinions.
Please, for all our sakes, get that straight in your mind, OK? We LOSE if we can't keep lies, facts and opinions separate.
this is the stupidist discussion I have ever seen. The campaign manager for Romney was clearly talking about the campaign being different in terms of message, focus, organization etc. not that Romney is all of sudden going to wake up and change positions on everything.
Obama has more gaffes than anyone. "algae" "inflate your tires" "spread the wealth around" and the list goes on and on. In a war of "gaffes" obama has plenty of them. Also, telling the media that he wants gas prices to go UP!
Of course, democrats want to distract people from the real issue. Obama has no idea how to run a country.
No, he wasn't talking about focus, organization, etc. He was asked a direct question about whether the Republican primaries had forced Romney to move his positions on issues too far to the right. That's when the spokesman uttered the "you just start over and change everything" line.
The question was quite clear and so was the answer.
The spokesman committed that ultimate sin: he told the truth.
It never ceases to amaze me at how indoctrinated the low information voter is and you have to wonder why they even watch someone like Rachel telling it like it really is with stunning insight and intellect and breaking it down so that even the uninformed can grasp it and yet they cannot. I mean, you would think they had some embarrassment in showing such denseness to the world of us who love and admire this brilliant and honest teacher and reporter.
I won't waste effort re-typing. Here's what I just wrote to someone else that you -- and all the ignoramuses on the right need to learn:
A LIE involves facts, not opinions. Every quote you wrote is an opinion (or a gaffe -- do you not even know the difference there? A gaffe isn't a lie, dummy!). Lies are based on facts, not opinions (or gaffes).
You can try to change the subject, try to mislead by leading astray, try to confuse by blathering irrelevantly...but I have faith that this country is still strong enough in its electorate not to be fooled by lies.
at least obama does not cause a bubble economy. and another thing,
bubbles always burst. but the real trajedy is that the poor democrats
are always left to deal with the multiple bursting bubbles all around.
the financial crap that was sold a number paper, but when the democratic government needed help in raising the debt limit, the
the moody guy that rated @!$%# as chichen soup while they lined their pockets under laizzes-faire, kicked obama in the mouth when he was trying very hard to rescue people from going hungry, they acted like they always do they exploit
elect Obama. lets add another TRILLION dollars to the deficit and have all the fat cats in washington getting guaranteed checks while they get no results!
Well done Rachel. It's sad that the lying has become so commonplace that even the most egregious stuff gets shrugged off as SOP. But Mr. EAS really is pathological about it. If he's not actually mentally ill, something rotten about his moral foundation has made it possible for him to stand in front of any crowd of people and say whatever unadulterated crap that he thinks the occasion calls for.
It's amazing how the EAS comment cuts straight to the black heart of who he is, and it was provided courtesy of someone at the core of his support staff, a person who knows Mr. EAS intimately, and who is so steeped in the culture of lying which is the foundation of the campaign, that he tossed the idea out on national teevee as if it was the most obvious approach he could imagine.
The whole thing is saturated with the cynicism that such lying, and such erasing, and then starting a new set of lies is just the way of the world. The lying is the means to the end. And the end justifies the means, however corrupt, false and nasty they may be.
Yah, she has a pretty good show and all. But, Rachel is probably not someone, I would want to borrow fifty bucks from, and then never pay it back. The way she follows a story, I would have to move to another country, or something. Wait a minute, she just came back from Mexico didn’t she ? Well, that wouldn’t work. Crap !

I'd love someone to challenge them to come up with a tape like the one Rachel put together tonight.

Thank you Rachel!!!!

perhaps you can make it a daily feature from now until November 6th!
Yes?
Now, you just need a catchy name for the daily Mint lie call out!
My offering to ….Name that Mitt:
Scary Crap You Always Suspected But Hoped Otherwise = Scyasbho ?? No ? How about, Business As Usual = B-A-U ??
I wish Jon Stewart would, too.
Rachel, I've got broccoli mushroom soup and squash soup ready to make if you're up for lunch or dinner .. invitation open!
Well I know I don’t have much money so it would be tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches here

Me, too. It scares me that the rest of the media ignores the lies. I keep wondering what happens to a society whose leaders can lie with impunity.
mitt willard romney has to be pressed, vetted on the comment about the michigan trees
"being just the right hieght". da, just the right hieght for what. when you write code, you
have stringers to your utterances. code- what is the hidden meaning, "these trees are
just the right height". A distraught person would relate to just one of those trees, after
selecting just one of the just right heieght trees, then again, a self righteous iadiolog
could conjure triaumphant visions of some grandure historically tragic event perhaps
repeated in his twisted vision of "ultimate conquest". what is the fruedian meaning of

bills were being paid witch is the right thing to do, always. do not worry about nothing that is the magic number after the bills get paid. the 57% tax would need to last about thirty months. and another thing, why do we need to go through this again. promote labor unions. i remember 1968, labor unions about 37% membership, low inflation, about one and a half percent annaully, bills bing paid, a thriving middle class, unemployment at 3.8% our government paying the bills, housing cost middle class house about $25,000 property taxes about $300 per year. but then the greedy repugs needed a bigger pie so that they could be considered part of our civilization. nixon took us off the gold standard. that gave our government the formula to deregulate all commerce, expand the military footprint all over the world, make more enemies, repug nixon was not happy to only have power he need to have a chance to destroy the democrats by acting as a criminal. we started having lots of homeless people then, lots and lots of civil disobedience since then and this brought about the police state that we live under now. i tell you, republicans are no good, because they produce unwinable wars of all kinds, promote gunplay, push for high interest rates until people walk out own their bills, send young gung-ho kids to fight wars with what they have, not with what they need for their safety, did anyone say war was safe. send the mothers of children off to work because they do not know the asprin trick, profile you so that you may lose your voting rights, dismantle the middle class, run scams like derivatives world wide like to the tune of 666,000 trillion. hey pay attention, they do all this for their own pleasure, they throw a wrench into into working systems, just ask the postal service, ask the relatives of the drowning victoms of katrina in 2005, in the new orleans fiasco caused by inadequate funding to maintain and upgrade the levies. it was not the storm it was the high and heavy handed mentality of all repugs that cannot stand not to have their dumb and criminal schemes into all things that are allready working. voters never learn because they do not realize who is @!$%#ing them. that is always the first and most important thing that i need to know about my well being. look at how romney has to lie to get throgh the day. all this guy has ever done is run wages down to slave wages. if you do not believe this ask a chinese worker that may work 80-90 hours per week. there are times when these people weigh the thought is this worth living for. ask the workers all over the world who do not have environmental or health laws to keep them safe but sold their souls off to the idea of having a job. what could you expect from a guy that will ship your job to enrich himself and those in the same exploiting mentality to bring cheap products to our shores until you can no longer afford to. we can no longer afford this kind of stuff because it cause the same sorry results. some benifit tremendously, so die trying to satisfy the demand on their health, their soul or outright servitude for the plan. ask the people of siapan, u.s.a. were is that. that is the u.s.a. research that why don't you. it is all about miterwald, should it be all about mitterwald, mitt for short. don't let this guy cut you short because he will if given a chance. after all he embraces the idea of exploitation for his benefit. does this promote the aspect of
"to promote the general welfare". remember, i i trying to save your bacon, so be minful of one that studies history, studies patterns,
studies intentions, and listened to his father that said to me 65 years ago, these guys do the same things all the time. and he finished off the conversation by say at this time, look son we are eating breakfast now, i am working, and things could be a little better now but at least i have a job, and i can afford to treat you to breafast once in a while. when i got off the train in l.a. in early 1930, he said, i got off a train full of hbos and bums, and even though i wanted to work an had some skills, there was no jobs, i
like everyone in the half mile long soup line that i joined had pride, but i was hungry and i did not have a penny for the soup, they looked down at me and served me the soup anyway. doctors, lawyers, businessmen were in the soup lines. that was the only time that i remember having a commonality with people of this stature.
that is what i remember my dad for, and i am happy that he tought me the ways of the world and the habits of bought off republicans. they are paid to do this he told me. it is there business to get into government, to dismantle working systems, to lower wages and then to holler foul when things do not work out for them. after all, look at the bush two legacy, he thinks he did a great job, even though he did not pay for his chosen wars, the tax breaks and corruption were on the credit card. but here is the real travesty, even if you thought that the easter bunny would bring you more of the good life when you borrowed on your house, bought every thing on credit and failed to read the fine print that read that on a $2,000 balance, it would take you 39 months at $26.00 per month and the interest was in fact 29.2% interest. go to school . learn about these criminal activities that are allowed to flourish under the
laizze-faire no regulation type scemes that the republicans live for.
believe me, i cannot even mouth the worst word ever invented, repug, parden me, but i cannot get it out of my mouth. my mouth is too good for the mother @!$%#ers.
NO. IT. DOESN'T.
Sea (Shay)-mus-Sketch: a picture of the dog being erased from the top of Mitts car!
this is the stupidist discussion I have ever seen.
(sigh)
I won't waste effort re-typing. Here's what I just wrote to someone else that you -- and all the ignoramuses on the right need to learn:
A LIE involves facts, not opinions. Every quote you wrote is an opinion (or a gaffe -- do you not even know the difference there? A gaffe isn't a lie, dummy!).
The deficit is shrinking under Pres. Obama - that's a fact.
This is a thread about lying.
Why post lies on a thread criticizing a liar?
You are deranged.
Or just willfully ignorant.
Crap !
Really? Are you trying to be cute???
