This past Saturday, Tucson, Arizona, celebrated the return of servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan in Tucson's Welcome Home Veterans Parade, and paid tribute to those lost while on duty. Complete with marching bands, bagpipe players and hundreds of Tucsonans in attendance, the parade was a smashing success.
The parents of Todd Bowers, director of government affairs for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and friend of TRMS, attended the parade and shared some photos with us. They write:
We thought you and Ms. Maddow would enjoy these photos of this veteran at Tucson's Welcome Home Veterans Parade. Although using a walker, he stood and saluted each time the Stars and Stripes passed by.

Tucson may love its Veterans, but the Tucson School Board seems to hate its Mexican/Americans http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-april-2-2012/tucson-s-mexican-american-studies-ban
Yeah, the Hicks guy is definitely embarassing and impossible to defend. (Rosa Clark? Seriously?) What the story doesn't convey, however, is that this was a state law that was passed for and aimed strictly at the Tucson Unified School District's Mexican American studies program.
Tucson did try to fight it, but ultimately it was a state law that had to be followed. At the very least, any state funding for Tucson schools was at stake. This was not the first law aimed at Tucson and Pima County either. We're a bit more liberal than the rest of the state, which makes up a prime target for the Arizona heavily GOP majority legislature.

I, for one, am proud to be from Tucson. I am also proud that we have been recognized as embracing our Veterans. Thank you to all of our service men and women who have sacrificed much for us. That little old man is someones Tata ( grandfather), and you should be very proud of him.
Yes, but does he have appropriate ID to vote?
(/snark)
I thought all former military members ranted at innocent poll workers these days..
Seriously can we leave the snark on another page?
Welcome home and thank you for your service
Nothing else needs to be said
I'm hoping to get a recall petition started against Jan Brewer since she is ignoring the citizens of Arizona. There may be one started . But, I'm thinking every Republican Governor should be recalled due to the current attacks on it's citizens. But, this picture warms my heart.
