Yo! After touting the Best New Thing! A Musical, no less! the clip is NOT available on the video player. Yo! Gotta see this one, ok? A Musical, no less!
Thx
Whatever the Best New Thing is for Friday night, it isn't on the podcast, either.
What gives?
If developing and improving spill recovery technologies and techniques is not a profitable investment for the oil companies, and fossil-fuel Republicans in Congress have effective veto power over the government spending money to do what's necessary, who then is going to do it? Like infrastructure, it's no surprise that it doesn't get done.
Ummm.... it's hashish, NOT hash. It's basically marijuana stems, leaves and resin compressed into a cake. It is of course an illegal drug.
Umm, yeah, Hash. Perfectly acceptable to shorten it.
Hash is the THC glands, removed from the plant matter, usually with ice water or CO2. The crystals are dried and may then be sprinkled over cannabis plant material which, when smoked, will boost the effect; or it can be vaporized, or cooked with, or...but don't heat it beyond 350 degrees, because while heat activates the THC, too much will burn it off before you can consume it.
Hash is not illegal in the states with laws governing and regulating medical Cannabis. Hash is merely a concentration of THC, which is why it's often referred to as a concentrate.
And for those of you so eager to remove all control from the federal government, and return to state governance, remember - lots of states are for full legalization of Cannabis and the only thing standing between you and legal drugs are the feds and their very expensive, failed WAR ON DRUGS.
You do know you show online is Ground Zero for promotion of the Keystone Pipeline? As far as I can tell they are your only advertiser, over and over the so sincere voice over telling me about the half million jobs the Keystone Pipeline "may" provide and the hundreds of thousands of families it "may" benefit.
It is giving me a headache watching the same damn thing over and over.
Isn't there ANYONE else who wants to advertise on your show?
PS - I love your show :-)
Oh, how I second your sentiment! Please, please find someone else. Pious intonations of "It's just what America needs right now." What? Tar sands oil spills? And that oil? It's not staying here in America! So, forget about "help[ing] to meet our energy needs."
Surely someone else, someone green, someone friendly, someone liberal, would like to advertise on your show?
I too love your show (I just hate the ad I have to listen to before every segment)!
Exxon ads are why the MUTE button was invented.
I agree with Edward and JArmen. I love your show, but I find myself wondering about the contrast between your message and your advertiser. If we mute it, we are allowing it to stand and sticking our fingers in our ears. That ernest voice telling us that the pipeline is exactly what America needs right now is too soothing and too wrong. Please address the hypocrisy.
is that like women being able to look away from the ultrasound screen?
Re: welcome home parades for Iraq War veterans ... just not in NYC. Maybe New York vets could be honored at a parade in Albany, or (if that's geographically too way out for Buffalo people) somewhere more central: Binghamton, Ithaca ... An idea?
I've resisted making this comment for some time, but here goes. I want our heroes to have as many welcome home parades as we can give them. They totally deserve it. A ticker-tape parade through the Canyon of Heroes in NYC would be totally awsome. BUT...now that we are living in a "post-9/11 world", it just might be a bad idea. Don't you think that because both the Pentagon AND Mayor Bloomberg are "against" it, that something else is in play ? I surmise that the government has solid intelligence that such a parade would be a target for "bad actors". ( I don't want to use the "T" word.)
You can call me paranoid or a conspiracy theorist. But I think that's the reason a parade is not being allowed. Obviously, they can't discuss what they know, so they're stonewalling.
I think Rachel is beyond brilliant and I love her to bits. I never miss her show. However, I think in her admirable desire to recognize our brave military men and women, she has overlooked the obvious.
kww355 I have come to the same conclusion about a parade in New York. They, Bloomberg and the Pentagon, must be feeling that the risk may be higher than the reward.
How can you possibly say that the average American has a chance in attending their dreams, when you have the rich freeloaders that have a rigged game. The rich people’s kids get a really good American dream by the pure con jobs and rigged system they have developed that limits other peoples possibly of having something better. I am not fooled a bit by the bs when they try to say everyone should have a chance at the American Dream, when it is so rigged against you. And if Romney calls Bain Capital a place he got lucky at, because of his Daddy’s influence that he got that job guess again. Bain Capital has nothing but been robbers and thieves of companies, because any body who takes loans out on a company than slashes the company budget to pieces as they fire people is a pack of crooks. Whatever happened to setting up something new and different for a company so they can continue business and keep people employed. And don’t use the excuse of Bain Capital having Staples, when they only employ people at extremely cheap wages where a person could never really live on. Romney is nothing but a big con job as all the other Republicans and any Democrats that join in with them are. Any person who does believe in fair play, the law, morals and ethics keep getting conned by these outright crooks.
"The oil industry which has essentially done nothing has done more than congress which has really done nothing" #Maddow.
Not to mention Obama who has done a lot. A lot, that is, to assist the oil industry to continue in screwing over the American people. Oil subsidies still in place, Tar Sands oil pipeline in reality a done deal, more new drilling permits in the Gulf and else where without any new regulations for safety, AND Obama now claiming (correctly) that his administration is drilling more than Bush did, and using that as a campaign slogan. All the while, gas prices over $4 a gallon and record oil company profits. Whoopie! Happy days are here again!
And the additional insult....If you want to see a clip from Maddow on this site, you've got to put up with being spoon feed the latest crap from Exxon/Mobile about how much they are dong for us.
These people have lots of money, and it appears they can use it to buy .....well pretty much anything or anyone.
From your comment, I'm guessing you're a Republican. You've been drinking the kool-aid for way to long, they've taken over your brain. As for your comments, you're simply using your Party's talking points that everything wrong with the country is Obama's fault. Your Party accuses him of being anti-oil although those of us that still have a brain know that's a bunch of hogwash. As far as your point on regulation, you know damn well who's blocking deregulation of every industry and who's insisting on keeping the subsidies for the oil companies along with all the other subsidies giving to Corporate America. Get real fellow, your Party is making you look stupid.
Is that what you're guessing, that I'm a Republican? Well, you're wrong, and not just about that. The one thing you are correct about is that my Party is making me look stupid. I'm a lifelong Democrat. I have never seen "my Party" more lined up with big business and big oil than they are right now. Don't believe that? Check the facts. Is Obama drilling more that Bush? Do we have new regulations to go along with the new drilling permits in the Gulf? Does big oil still get the subsidies or not? And where is Obama's money for re-election coming from? I know it's not popular on this site to offer any comments critical of Obama, but he is wrong about much that he has done, and needs to be held accountable. Talk about drinking Kool-Aid.
The only long-term jobs the pipeline will create will be for people with hand strainers and 'Sham Wows" trying to clean up the leaks in the pipeline. In fact this pipeline will be an actual 'trickle down' into middle America's aquifer. By the way, in which state do they plan on disposing of the tainted residue from refining this crap? I would suggest Teaxas' (sic). If this is so safe as per big oil propaganda, why not reassure us with a hundred billion dollar clean up fund in advance of proceeding with this misadventure. If it is safe, their safety bond should be as well.
What is that I read?Obama's war on oil? How about the republican war on clean air,war on clean water, war on safe food, war on the poor, war on the middle class, war on women, war on medicare, war on medicaid and last but not least, the war on Obama!
It's not polite to notice those.
Rachel, way to go on the Gulf Disaster, still unfolding! We must be able to get a dialogue going with the Oil Companies, and better yet, get them to seeing the relationship between their actions, and their own rotten personal Karma! Through their Investors, the many individuals who bought into the idea of international oil sales, cause that's where the exploratory funding's coming from. I really believe if the investment flow, becomes a trickle, they might be forced to cease any and all Sea Drilling. Individual responsibility is key! Once the micro-life has been sent off to extinction, it won't be back! Everyone has to eventually see how late it's become....we sort of drifted into it~
I am about to move to North Dakota...if I can. There is no housing up there, none. No homes stay on the market, no available apartments in complexes from Minot to Bismarck, even the male bunk houses are full.
Know why? Because of the oil and gas boom going on up there.
People are going to North Dakota for jobs. I am one of them, though it isn't an oil related job. If I can get up there. The housing market is exactly the opposite of the rest of America, it's booming too.
During the Obama administration... What War on Oil? It's a War on Alternative Fuels by Congress so that the US and Canada and the slowly opening Arctic can be squeezed for every drop of natural resources and profits until the world's wells run dry.
But by then, the profiteers will have gone the way of the dinosaurs who made the oil that hides beneath the ground of a 6 thousand year old Earth...etc, etc.
That is pretty disgusting when women have been a credit in serving the military and America and they get treated so badly. These military commanders are just as bad as the abuser and rapist as utter pigs. One can even say these people involved in letting these injustices happen are nothing but traitors and criminals to America. Whatever happened to the military honor code, when there is nothing honorable in what is going on here. Does this mean these military commanders are outright liars and deceivers of what the military stands for? Apparently so, an absolute disgrace and the military as the biggest joke around.
BUT
Your opening report about the BP oil spill anniversary on line had the add right under the piture EXXON MOBIL ad for the pipe line from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico...... What hypocrisy, and please know I support this program and watch it faithfully.....
BUT TO YOU MAKING MONEY ON WHAT YOU ARE STATING YOU ARE AGAINST IS RIDICULOUS!!!!
After my post, I noticed yours.
It's tragic, but what are the reasonable alternatives?
On the Ed Show I was gobsmacked to see Ed recently ( http://ed.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/04/11023401-ed-show-playbook-wed-apr-4 ) excoriating the fracking industry, and even using a clip of one of Rachel's sponsors from months past, another bloody pontificating carbon fuel engineer, in the background while he ripped them a new one.
I suppose that's the best we can do — at least we're on the air talking about it
It's great to see Rachel talking about this subject, and I'm glad somebody is. But it's sad that in order to get this message out, MSNBC has to take money from EXXON to put petrolstitute Artis Brown on every break to whine about the Keystone Pipeline.
What a bunch of slaves we are, eh?
