The internet is surfacing bits and pieces of Rachel's weekend trip through Milwaukee (home of Harley Davidson) and Kansas City as the 'Drift' tour approaches its end. But the best interview, possibly of the whole tour so far, is last weekend's brief interview with her old high school's newspaper, The Olympian. Fun.

Rachel -- You ask why the Republican push on contraception and abortion.
I think Obama's election -- a black man's election -- frightened the traditional white, male power brokers so badly that they jumped from 'if a black man can win, a woman can win' (Hillary was a serious candidate) and they would lose control /dominance.
They know women would not govern with the same priorities they hold. They have long seen women's sexual freedom as a threat. Therefore keep women tied down to a home and children. Simplistic yes, but not new -- it's the barefoot and pregnant power/control thinking.
