I loved your show last night! I enjoy watching your show most nights (when I can stay awake). President Obama did the right thing by making his personal views on gay marriage public. Thanks for sharing your opinion on the TODAY show this AM too.
I really wish that the press would give some time to report on Lyme Disease and it's co infections. It is a worldwide epidemic, that has been just about ignored, for many years. You'd think there was no other news in the world, other than the same old tired wedge issues. It's no wonder that people are turning off their TV sets in droves! This is a horrible illness. We have children born with it, because the parents can't get a diagnosis. It's the elephant in the room, kids! It's not going away, and it is so sad that the patients, themselves, have to be the media, to spread awareness. The untold suffering is finally being told, but not so much in the US press. Hats off to Dr. Phil, who did a segment last month! That was a really good start! So, Rachel, do you have the cajones to do a show on the debilitating Lyme Disease, and it's nasty, deadly co infections? For everybody's sake, I hope so!
Thank you for Cory Booker and Barnie Frank on your show. We need to shine a light on such great people. We see enough of the other kind on our news channels.
Thankfully, the president's view on gay marriage is as relevant as Keith Olbermann's career. The federal government has no control over a state's right to regulate gay marriage, as we did yesterday in NC. This isn't like Colorado ignoring marijuana while the Feds don't; this an area where Washington has no control at all. And interestingly enough, while Obama had the far left vote anyway, he just lost the middle. As usual, Obama speaks about @!$%# that's none of his business, like the Cambridge police, or Trayvon looking like his kid if he had a son, or whatever. This move cost votes; it didn't gain them.
Incorrect. Just like interracial marriage bans, this is going down too. Learn your own state's history.
I am left to wonder if that is a re-enactment of an actual Greek ceremony at the Olympics, or a re-enactment of Hitler's original re-enactment of it.
A postmodern moment, to be sure.
Also, I liked it better when we called them "underpants bombs."
Or better yet, "Panties"?
Minnesota GOP Representative who Supported Gay Marriage Retires from Legislature
Minnesota State Senator John Kriessel (R-Cottage Grove) made headlines several months ago for bucking his party's stance against gay marriage in a heart-felt message to his fellow legislators. Kriessel, an Iraq veteran who had lost his legs in an IED explosion, stated that he served with gay and straight soldiers during his time, and that changed his opinion in the gay marriage debate. Here was that speech http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WyYRA4aZSI
Yesterday, Rep. Kriessel said goodbye from the State Legislature in a noble and expressive speech to his House colleagues on the last day of the session. Here is that speech: http://www.minnpost.com/minnclips/2012/05/state-rep-john-kriesels-farewell-speech?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Kriessel said that his term on the legislature changed him, and gave him insights to other points of view.
Rep. Kriessel has accepted a position as the new Anoka County Veterans Services director. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, "For a veteran to ask for help is so hard," Kriesel said last Tuesday, hours after learning of his appointment by the County Board. "You're wired from the time you join the military to suck it up, deal with it and drive on. But veterans are vulnerable. I definitely know that. I've been through it."
(Personal note - Kriessel is the kind of Republican this country needs. One who is willing and able to stand up for what is right, no matter what his/her party line is. He is affable, self-deprecating and comfortable in front of the media. While he will stand up for his side, he will also compromise when he needs to.)
