That Carney bloke clearly had gone on simply in order to push a media bias line of attack. As Tamron said, he knew what the topic was going to be, and yet he faked outrage anyway. Most in the media would have just sat there and let him get away with it, but Tamron did the right thing in kicking his middle-aged white ass off the air (said the middle-aged white person).

I totally agree with you!!! Kudos to Tamron. Carney actually tried to bully Tamron and she handled it beautifully. Did you see his face? and then accusing her of a "media trick"!
Too many reporters let these "talking heads" get away with this type of bullying behavior and it always makes me uncomfortable to see it happening. Maybe more reporters should get some assertiveness training!! Tamron could teach the class!
I saw Tamron's interview with Tim Carney and the first thing that cross my mind at the time was: Now...THAT's an "atta girl" moment.
I totally agree with Tamron. She said over and over again that in her opinion what happened over 40 yrs ago doesn't even matter much, she was questioning about Romney's attitude toward the news and toward anything that he doesn't like to talk about and Tim Carney was just giving her the standard "this is the problem with main stream media (specifically MSNBC) and their liberal agenda and trying to make news of what happened years ago" answer as if she was John King and he was Newt Gingrich.
Good for Tamron to set the record straight and not let that happen.
I was just shown a clip on Politics Nation of Scott Walker discussing how to turn Wisconsin completely red and get rid of unions with his billionaire donor. She asked, "how can I help"?
He agreed and stated how they would first go after the public unions to "divide and conquer"
See? Admission they wish to conquer the working class, and in effect block the path to middle class, so the billionaire corporate owners can conquer workers.
What Romney did when he was 18 calling them pranks, that is not the issue. They were terrible but you hope that he changed as he grow. The problem is the way he responds "I don't remember" - I am 62 and graduated high school in 1967, I remember what we did in high school and there are a few things I wish I could forget. It is his refusal to own it and accept it. It is his lying - Romney = Pinocchio.

Hey Maddow Team! Its been a while since I've been around.
Something has kind of bugged me a bit which I would like to point out... I noticed it on your show a few days ago while I was working out at the gym.
A) For those who don't know me: I'm a Texan, half-black half white man. Hetrosexual that has all kinds of friends. I even feel in love with a girl in a gay club a while back saying to myself "please don't be a guy" as I walked up to her :)
B) I started going to the gym a year ago, it has 16 flat-panel TVs in the room. At least 2-3 of them were on FOX. Nowadays, MSNBC *IS* on 1 sometimes 2 screens... and FOX is on 0~1 screens.
C) Back to why I'm posting on your open blog about a guest and it made me want to make a statement (I wish I could remember which show). For quite a while, I have come to not like the phrase "my gay friends". It kind of comes out "my black friends" or "I'm a friend to the negros".
I have friends, some are homosexual... hell, some are trans-gendered (which I don't think about as I can't quite wrap my mind around it). Your friends are people you like by their personality, not their race, color, religion or sexual orientation.
In my younger years, I was not as opened minded - seeing two guys kiss would totally gross me out. Not that I was a bigot. But I've learned people are simply people. When I talked to a young man last year while I was drinking at a regular club, I helped him with his boy-friend issues... I gave him the advice that would apply to anyone. Abusive people come in all styles. He's current boyfriend is nice.
When I introduce a friend to others, I don't say their sexual orientation, it shouldn't matter. I invite gay people I meet in gay clubs to go to non-gay clubs and visa-versa.
D) I'm happy the Democrats are being American with Obama saying what needs to be said, what was already known. I use this simple line that everyone SHOULD use on the Internet any anything else when discussing the rights marriage to gay people. I've been using it for many months I heard it recently by the NJ Mayor last night. This simple information explains it all:

The Supreme Court needs to force states to HONOR the law. I know, the supreme court cannot be trusted thou.
I'm glad things are changing. It will be another 1-2 generations before things settle down. Because in the USA, there are still problems with people marrying or having inter-racial relationships. I've dated/had GF of all races... I don't date someone by their skin color. A few years ago, a college friend of mine (24yr old woman) tried to get me together with a mixed-race woman. It was a party/drink thing of walking to 5-6 bars, socializing, etc. We were NOT intrested in each other. Yes, we are mixed, even like many of the same things. But we were not attracted to each other one bit. Compared to the woman I meant in a gay club (above) I was head over heels within seconds of talking with her. I then canceled future dates with other women the next day, explaining I was "off the market". :)
Boots on the ground in Texas: Support for equal rights are growing in Texas, but many are not active because they think we are a minority. Obama, please come to Texas. Not everyone is a moron down here.

I love the gender dynamics of the Tamron Hall bit: Tim Carney, male blowhard, assuming he can roll right over the pretty little tv host with nothing but bluster; Tamron Hall, knocking Carney out with her little finger, yet remaining totally cool and in control -- and remaining a totally "feminine" female. This clip should be mined for Hall's technique: how did she manage to NOT appear bitchy? Because she doesn't, not for a second. Nor does she come off as the stereotypical "angry black woman."

Tamron was bringing the issue of his current and recent attitude being one that tends to bully, sometimes in a mean way, sometimes in a condescending way. Yes, he got richer off of laying off people, let's talk about that, Mitt. You want to talk about all your business savvy, let's look at that under a microscope. Oh, some of taking of jobs away to enrich the stock holders and Board members, of whom you were one, oh the Swiss bank account where that money went. He's just what we need to create more jobs (snark).
That Tim guy had nothing whatsoever to offer, starting off his 2 minutes of air time with accusations against the host. Brilliant.

Regarding the Yemen airstrike: I'm more interested in finding out how many nonmilitants it killed. As usual, American journalists are not interested in the same things that interest me.
I love the clever phrasing that makes it easy to dodge the question of who was killed and how many: "as many as seven militants." Does this phrase actually mean anything? It could mean: "We killed one militant and six children." Or it could mean, "We don't know if we killed any militants but it looks like seven corpses down there." The only thing the professional liars are telling us is that the maximum possible number of militants killed is seven; the actual number of militants could be anywhere from zero to seven.
Wouldn't it be nice if journalists questioned pseudo-information like this?

Some political Democratic leaders might see the Republican leaders signing a pledge with Grover Northquist’s corporate group not to ever raise taxes for any reason, as a political-gaining plus for the Democratic Party. However, this pledge dangerously sells off the publics vote in Democracy, where even if Republican Constituents want their leaders to raise taxes, for instance, instead of getting rid of food stamps and social security, they would not.
Why has not the Democratic Caucus taken this aggressive-legislative-pledge to the Supreme Court and challenged it as unconstitutional by our legislative institutions? Believe me; if Democratic leaders signed a pledge to raise taxes every year to reinstate Republican cuts, the Republican Caucus would be fighting it in the Supreme Court.
The political Democratic leadership has ’allowed’ the Republican-pledge agenda to fester so long, that some Republican leaders now feel free to override the legislative power of both, elected leaders and the wanted agenda behind the public vote and appoint emergency city managers.
Michigan’s Republican Governor has appointed emergency managers to control some cities funds, compromising whole city-agenda’s, partly, to replace business tax cuts in Michigan’s budget. Here, Republican leadership gears their sole governing of the control, and interest, of money, in city-business only, instead of also meeting taxpayer’s needs. In the meanwhile, corporations are extorting local and State tax money.
I want a legal fight over these things.
Absolutely! Where is the investigation into selling the Silverdome, saying the taxes and upkeep would be paid by private party? Fred Leeb said so. But he resigned in 2010. Uh, yeah… sold to Canadians for $500,000.

State-appointed manager Louis Schimmel is pondering the tax freeze for 5 years so the buyer can fund the remodel. No not elected officials, an appointed city financial manager who would love to see more than just a soccer stadium there.
I hope someone is checking the portfolios of these state appointed city financial mangers.
First, let us ask the Supreme Court if the Republican Northquist pledge to never raise taxes (even in Republican Constituents interest) is defined legally as a contract, since money comes from both ends of the deal. Then we could ask if this is legal, would not that mean that ‘any’ President could sign a pledge with any international country to ‘never’ legislate anything in the American publics interest, never order anything in the American publics interest and never fight in the defense of the American publics interest. Even if money comes from both sides of the deal.
