Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows President Obama with a narrow lead over Mitt Romney at the national level, 47% to 43%. The gender gap is enormous, and Obama has a clear edge among self-identified independents.
* A new Quinnipiac poll, however, shows Romney with a growing lead in Florida, where he's ahead of the president by six points, 47% to 41%. Adding Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) to the ticket bumps Romney's lead up to eight points in the state.
* Obama is faring far better in Pennsylvania, where a new Public Policy Polling survey shows the president leading Romney by eight points, 50% to 42%.
* The Obama campaign released a new ad this morning, and it has nothing to do with Bain Capital. In this spot, viewers are reminded of the president's commitment to Medicare (left unsaid is Romney's desire to end Medicare and replace it with a voucher scheme).
* In Kentucky's 4th congressional district, strident tea partier Thomas Massie won the Republican primary last night, easily defeating state Rep. Alecia Webb-Edgington.
* In Arkansas, which also held primaries yesterday, Rep. Mike Ross (D) has scrapped plans for a gubernatorial campaign.
* And in Vermont, a new statewide poll shows incumbent Gov. Peter Shumlin (D) with a 33-point lead over his Republican challenger, Randy Brock, 60% to 27%.

Florida Dem Registration is 40.5%.
The Quinnipiac polling sample was 31% Dem.
Why would they do that?
Trying to create a narrative.

Rube! Rube! Rubi-Ohhhh!
Rubio can't run for VP, he's an anchor baby, not eligible.
Right. Please PLEASE make Rubio the VP candidate with Romney. That would be the gift that keeps on giving. Don't forget, Rubio was the cosigner of the Blunt amendment. No matter what upside they think he will have in FLA, the national response will be devastating.
Thank you for reporting news of substance. Keep up the great work!!!!
Birthers say Obama on the middle was photoshopped.
