Executive producer Bill Wolff shares a preview of tonight's show:

I wish you'd mention today's coordinated blog swarm on one individual, claiming that he's intimidating THEM. A frightening harbinger of the fall election? (And conveniently sweeping all mention of the Wisconsin recall election from the front pages)
"The Ghouls of May" http://wp.me/p5dEo-4jN
I think some bloggers are being kind of rough on Rachel. We should be greatful there is a place where we can come and voice our opinions. Working in The United States in 2012 is a lot different than it was in the 1960's or 70's. Unions started so that when a person died on the floor of a manufacturing plant people didn't walk all over them and quickly replace them without batting an eye. Unfortunately Romney and the GOP want to return to a time when employees were coughing up blood into their hankerchiefs and passing out but were then told to get lost you have been fired. How soon we have forgotten. Remember that person who was coughing may have been your father or your grandfather. Unions were created for a reason and a damn good one. Divide and conquer, I don't think so.
You are so right. The Divide & conquer comment is precisely what they're up to. We must stand together so the USA doesn't turn into present day Wisconsin.
I hope that we WILL stand together. That has to include the president and his support. Where is it?
The lack of presidential leadership from Obama on issues like the right wing attacks against Acorn, Planned Parenthood, women's reproductive rights, worker's rights, public radio, union rights and collective bargaining, and new voter-ID laws that oppress or prevent hundreds of thousands of legitimate minority votes -is unforgivable.
Obama has sat quietly as republican governors in several states attempted to destroy some of the most prominent political organizing arms of the democrat party. He has just a few days left to step forward and lead on this issue. Someone has to hold his feet to the fire instead of making excuses for failure.
First, my laptop is less than a year old and this site is horrendously S.L.O.W. Too much information and ads are included on each page. Prioritize, outline, and delegate your info. Each page should load in seconds. Instead, it flows like molasses.
Back to the point: I've been told that persistance is the key to success, so I'm going to keep posting these thoughts until some of them are discussed, explored, and resolved on the show. -Does anyone wonder why Donald Trump trots out the birther story whenever Obama's poll numbers show support from his base is low? This is how Obama manipulates his base to shore up support from a group whose interests he has largely dismissed and betrayed. Can't let those lying birthers win, suckah.
Obama is nothing more than a poser. He's not fighting hard enough for his base to suit me, -especially when he thinks no one is looking. The leader I want would be most like Andrew Jackson. This was a man not afraid to take control in a crisis and establish his authority by force. He could do more with his bare knuckles in one week than Obama has accomplished in an entire 4-year presidential term. As an aggressive leader and a person of authority, NO ONE crossed Jackson without paying a very high price. Contrast that with Obama, who is regarded as the whipping boy of conservative media and talk radio. Obama has no one’s respect.
I’ll try to make this simple: If Obama wants my vote, he will wear Eric Cantor’s front teeth in a bottle on a lanyard around his neck. The sight of that necklace would make opponents including Roger Ailes, Charles and David Koch, and Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu understand that a piece of them might very well be in the next bottle. That's the kind of leader we need, and Obama has had over 3 years to become that leader. Instead, he has let us down with generous compromises for republicans and lukewarm conservative policies for his progressive base.
The sad thing is republicans win if Obama gets reelected, and they win if he isn't reelected. Right now they are getting practically everything they could have asked for from a third term of the Bush administration. The Bush tax cuts are still in effect. Guantanamo is still open. Allegations of torture were never investigated. The war in Iraq ran it's full term. Worse, Obama just signed an agreement committing the USA to roughly 12 more years in Afghanistan.
Obama promised he would force a resolution of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, but after 2 years he has not even gotten Israel to honor the obligations of it’s previous peace agreements. In particular, the Road Map Agreement signed under GW Bush requires Israel to STOP ALL Settlement construction activity. This was Israel’s obligation under Phase 1 of the Road Map. Phase 2 would commence direct negotiations between the two parties for core issues and final status.
Obama has called on the Palestinians to renew negotiations even though Israel has refused to stop Settlement construction. That contravenes the Road Map agreement. Worse, Obama used his veto in the UN Security Council to protect Israel’s illegal Settlement construction from a resolution that might have stopped it so that legitimate peace negotiations could proceed as per Road Map stipulations. Lastly, Obama has used the US leadership position in the Quartet to cripple it and prevent advancement of the agenda for peace it was formed to pursue.
I could go on, but what I've covered so far is more than enough to make any progressive democrat sick to their stomach. People, who did we really get when the democratic nominee won? Did we get a democrat? I don't think so. In fact, Obama has implemented in practice policies which are so conservative that the GOP has had to redefine itself with INSANE positions on the fringes of the radical right in order to keep some daylight between themselves and Obama.
We didn't vote for this. We didn't vote to waste our biggest chance in years to make the changes Obama talked about when he was a candidate. As a leader, Obama has presided over the biggest disappointment this party has ever seen in terms of what could have been and what actually is. In fact, I'm convinced he is secretly working for republicans to complete the unfinished work of the last administration. For example, Obama has done more to topple the governments of Arab states in the region surrounding Israel than he has done to help middle class American families facing foreclosure and loss of their homes.
We didn't vote for that either.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Obama because he's black or because some idiot questioned his nationality. Far from it. I'm against Obama because I think he's red. Obama has kept more of George Bush's campaign promises than he has kept of his own. I didn't vote for that the first time, and I certainly will not vote for it a second. To paraphrase an infamous Bushism, fool me once, shame on you. ...We won't get fooled again.

LO - you actually typed all that? FYI - there are no more combat troops in Iraq
@regrlr: What I said was the war in Iraq ran it's full term. Obama the candidate promised to end that war. The assumption was he would shorten it. He didn't shorten it by even a day. Obama let Bush's "Status of Forces" agreement expire. Then... *THEN* the war was over, and Obama tried to claim credit for ending it? That's a sad joke.
Everything else I said in the previous comment is also true. Read it again. Obama is a poser who has betrayed the interests of his own party. That is how republicans will complete the unfinished agenda of the last administration. Look at the net results of Obama's first term. Functionally, you are looking at the third term of the Bush administration.
Consider: If republicans knew they would most likely lose the 2008 election due to public disenchantment with the wars and unpopularity of many of Bush's policies, then the only way to complete their agenda was to nominate the alternative party's candidate. Enter Obama. I can cite proof that this is what they did and even explain how they did it. Just ask me.
Hint: First, do you know what an open primary is? Some states allow anyone, even registered republicans, -to vote for the nominee of the democratic party. Obama got millions of crossover votes in open primary states. Why?
Second, remember the nullification of the democratic primary vote in Florida in 2007? This happened because the republican-controlled legislature in Florida moved the date of the primary so that it was too early to be counted. Obama's competition Hillary Clinton was projected to win Florida, so they rigged things so that none of Florida's votes could be counted. Ask yourself why they did that. Now realize they did the very same thing in the state of Minnesota. My friend, the GOP wanted Obama to win the democratic nomination. Now we know why.
Dude, get some help. You must have a prestigious job where you tell everybody what to do while you just talk & talk & talk. O Knowledgeable One, we are all quite aware why the Donald is rebirthing & you saying out loud, our President has something to do with it, is ludicrous, lol. (pun intended) I've learned in my long life that only poseurs say poseurs. I lost interest at that point but upon scrolling down, in your EIGHTH PARAGRAPH you say "I could go on, but what I've covered so far is more than enough to make any progressive democrat sick to their stomach." You did go on & on & on, blah, blah, blah. Get a grip, get a job & seriously LEAVE US ALONE YOU TROLL!
Regards,
Sanity
@MsDragonFire: I'm not here to attack you or whoever you refer to as "us", I'm here to get some points discussed. Resolve these issues instead of dismissing them and I'll have no reason to remain. -CAN YOU resolve these issues with facts and a logical argument?
For instance, can you not connect the dots between low poll ratings for Obama among his base and a resurgence of the birther story, -which results in improved poll ratings as manipulated democrats rally around the prez to tamp down those filthy lies yet again? Did you know Donald Trump was once a registered democrat?
By the way, I wonder if some of your "long life" wasn't spent at lucianne.com. Am I right? That seems to be where your style of dismissive attack originates.
Kiev, that is one rectally-derived comment.
I would say anal is more appropriate. However, these *are* points and questions that ought to be discussed and answered. HOW do we know this man is truly on our side? We can't be certain. All we can do is look at his record of accomplishment, policy, and enacted legislation. Most of what has been done, accomplished, or ignored seems to serve the other party.
The Bush tax cuts were extended by Obama with his signature. He claims the GOP had him over a barrel. Right. -Here, twist my arm. Guantanamo is still open. He promised to close it. We assumed that meant in his first hunderd days. Allegations of torture were never investigated. That was a GIANT political favor for the GOP that subverted our legal system and constitution in favor of neocon interests.
Obama has ordered and carried out the assassinations of at least two American citizens without trial or legal charge. This is unprecedented. Direct air support and bombings of targets in Libya and covert work to topple the Assad government in Syria prove Obama has done more to topple the governments of Arab states in the region surrounding Israel than he has done to help American families facing foreclosure and loss of their homes. We didn't vote for that.
Taken together, this strategic agenda seems to follow Dick Cheney’s plan for the mid east more closely than it reflects the will of the democratic base that elected Obama.
Of course Obama did give us health care reform. That included the personal mandate, which was originally proposed by republicans as an alternnative to Hillycare when Bill Clinton was in office. Quite telling, Obama removed the public option from that legislation.
And sadly, financial reform didn't go far enough on Wall Street. Reports indicate investment banks are now engaged in a level of derivatives trading and credit default swap (CDS) activity that exceeds the level of trading when the economy collapsed in 2007. A real leader wouldn't allow that.
So who is Obama really serving? Are you being served? Most of us just have that warm feeling that comes from being pissed on. We deserve better. Nothing will change until WE STOP ACCEPTING the status quo from Obama.
I love Joe Biden! Will you post the link? Thanks!
Joe Biden's comments to Gold Star mothers today were incredibly poignant. I will be posting this clip to fb as soon as it is available. No matter what your politics, this is a must-read. I would love to meet him and thank him for all he has done for America. Just an FYI, I loved his autobiography.
This is a stupid show, it should be cancelled
@regrlr: You need a change. We can smell your diaper.
It's about time the poor pay their fair share! This show demonizes the Republicans for passing laws to raise taxes so that the poor pay their fair share. So, it's okay if the Democrats preach about everyone paying their fair share, but it's bad that Republicans actually do something about it.... Bias!
So many of Americans today are the "Working Poor". They do not earn enough to pay rent and feed their children. Quite frankly, if all people were paid a working wage, then they could pay taxes. A person who is paid minimum wage (and works HARD by they way) cannot afford to have enough money left over to pay taxes. Do the math.
The poor do pay their fair share. The poor pay payroll taxes, sales taxes, and other taxes that directly go to pay for the services that they use. Very few services are funded directly through the income tax- the income tax by and large has to do w/ the national debt which is by and large carried by the wealthier class since it's usually the wealthy who own bonds and not the poor. And since the poor are already paying taxes and are already paying taxes often over 50% of their income there isn't really a reason to complain about raising the tax rate on the upper class when the upper class pays less than that 50% rate. This is particularly true when considering that the amount of money a person has left over after paying 50% of their income if they are a millionaire is vastly more than what's needed to survive than the amount left over from a person making 20k/yr. You are acting like the poor pay nothing the rich pay everything- this is not true. This is especially confusing when you take into consideration how much wealth the upper 10% of Americans control versus that of the bottom 90% of Americans. The tax rate is hardly proportionate. Lastly unless you are a part of that 10% (which you likely aren't since you're blogging here) you should be aware that it's your taxes that will be raised. Just FYI.
It is time that dividends and capital gains are taxed at the same rate as savings account interest. I heard Bill O'Rielly say there is risk in the stock market and that is why dividends and capital gains are taxed less. Will your job be there for the full length of you mortgage, car loans, and the decision to get married and start a family? That is also risk. So you manage to pay on all your loans and have a little left over to put in a savings account and have that interest taxed at a higher rate is a crime. By the way, I own stock and have a savings account. In July of 1979 I got a mortgage on a new house and in December 1979 the company closed down.

You REALLY NEED to learn about taxation in the United States. Try this site:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_the_United_States
There are a lot of "surprises" there, even for people like me who thought I understood taxation like the chart of tax revenues v. GDP, and how much of the tax burden comes from income taxes.
Also try this site:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_history_of_the_United_States
The rich have it pretty good right now, MUCH better than they've had it for most of our tax history, so REALLY, they and people like you should quit whining!!
@oncearepublican: Good points and links, but I doubt you are going to change regrir's mind. Logical arguments and facts have no affect on children and neocons.
There. I made a short post especially for MsDragonFire. Are you happy now?
Happy Memorial Day. We shall never forget. We shall always remember.
