Tonight's guests:
- John Harwood, CNBC chief Washington correspondent, New York Times political writer
- Michael Waldman, executive director of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law
- P.J. Crowley, former assistant secretary and spokesman at the State Department, currently the Omar Bradley Chair in Strategic Leadership at Penn State University Law School.
And here's (musically accompanied) executive producer Bill Wolff with a look ahead at what Rachel will be talking about:

What ever happened to the fairness doctrine with regards to President Obama's "Obama care." I write this at the request of my mother Betty J. Lopez. She thanks you.
Oh my you are trying to rile up the right with this Q.
Ask FOX about the "fairness doctrine" which of course ceased to exist
"By 1985, the FCC issued its Fairness Report, asserting that the doctrine was no longer having its intended effect, might actually have a "chilling effect" and might be in violation of the First Amendment. In a 1987 case, Meredith Corp. v. FCC, the courts declared that the doctrine was not mandated by Congress and the FCC did not have to continue to enforce it. The FCC dissolved the doctrine in August of that year"

Let's start a campaign to make Donald Trump - Romney's vp running mate
Let's start a campaign for Romney to make Donald Trump his VP running mate.
I do not agree with Mr. Harwood, given that race is at play for the second time in history in the run for President. I believe in free speech as the next American. I do not support the Republicans viewpoint and definition of what an American is even if another State in the Union has certified the birth of that citizenship. Are people and the laws of that state not to be respected? When we present our birth certificate as part of an employment application process, does that mean that an employee's birth certificate issued by let's say Arkansas is questionable, despite the certification presented by the State of Arkansas and its laws and authority? Donald Trump stopped being a comdeian when he decided to run or fake running for President. Now, I do believe he may have less than honorable tendacies, which means he is prone to lying and misleading Americans as any other hustler.
As a result of Maddow's declining viewers, it wont be long until MSNBC cancels her hate filled show. That will be a good day for Americans everywhere!
Mitt only identifies with the Rich Elites. Rachel only identifies with the gays.
Her agenda is so fake it sickens me. If you are not gay then she could care less about your progressive ideas.
I think she would soften up if she finally admitted she is not fully gay. I'm thinking bi. That's just my opinion about a public figure.
IMO, Keith and Rachel came up with this fully gay scheme for ratings. Why else has Rachel not popped the ? to her long time soul mate?
for the description of it being "hate filled" you have no idea of what hate is or what it means to have it pointed right at you. i suspect neither of you have ever feared a moment thinking that just being who you are can get you assaulted or worse and being called lame doesn't count....so me calling you lame doesn't amount to hate.
David-
Yeah, since you're completely wrong and she's one of their best rated people, just go ahead and hold your breath for that.
Yes, I'm repeating the same response, since you're still a completely clueless tool.
.....aaaaaand the last year of thousands being murdered in the street didn't shock the world? Iran and Russia feed them their arms....any questions? ......aaaaaand the UN doesn't think these are events to question? The UN are a bunch of pussies that feed the worst of the worst on this planet. I swear to God give me one one with any of those limp d!cks and I will make them see God.
RE Massacre in Houla: Ms. Maddow, whatever happened to due diligence? Isn’t that an ethical requirement for any reporter who guards and values their journalistic integrity?
I just witnessed your assertion that a violent militia which killed hundreds of civilians in Houla is supposedly allied with or working for the Assad government in Syria. Look, we do know that people were killed. What we don’t know is who the perpetrators of that violence were working for. Your allegation is sourced from ONE individual who I assume was not interviewed in person or was interview by a third party. Your “corroboration” was the US State Department. I am not impressed.
Your job was NEVER to act as a cheerleader for any political or military agenda by following up facts with bold assertions of responsibility that remain largely uncorroborated and unproven.
Did you forget the very real possibility of a false flag attack? Haven’t you been remiss in ignoring the possibility that western interests, -including the CIA and Mossad -could cause more damage to Assad and advance their own strategic agenda (which includes turning those people against him) by sending a militia of paid mercenaries to do their dirty work and BLAMING Assad for it?
Have you already forgotten how this was done to Saddam Hussein? Tony Blair infamously referred to it as “wrong-footing”. Our own government repeatedly told the American public numerous lies about WMD in Iraq to manipulate them into supporting an unjust attack and a subsequent invasion and occupation of the Iraqi people. Our government sent Colin Powell to lie to the UN for the same purpose. How many innocent Iraqis died as a result of those lies?
Not long ago, the same kind of dishonest activity that was used against Saddam was repeated against Muammar Gadhafi in Libya. Add to that covert US involvement that helped topple the governments of Tunisia and Egypt. You’ve gotta be willfully blind not to see a pattern here.
I know you’re not blind, so I don’t understand why you are silent. It’s a matter of history that news agencies and reporters failed to appropriately evaluate, corroborate, and confirm the WMD allegations made by Bush and Cheney. This failure made them complicit in aiding the start of an unnecessary conflict that killed well over 100,000 people in Iraq. No one frets over those deaths, yet Obama and many neo-cons are screaming over the fact that 100 people were killed in the Syrian city of Houla.
Death and senseless tragedy are all the same in God‘s eyes, whether it’s a family shot execution style in Houla, or a wedding party in Iraq hit with a bomb from an American jet, or whether it’s 2 children in a van blown away by a couple of American soldiers with a helicopter-mounted gatling gun. The Powers That Be have declared the people of Houla victims, while those who died at the wedding party in Iraq and the children in that van are merely collateral damage.
Sigh… so here we are facing a similar situation in Syria. We KNOW Obama wants to topple Assad. Obama and Secretary of State Clinton have said so publicly. At this crucial moment, I can assure you the American people (who by the way didn’t vote for this @!$%#) deserve unbiased reporting of the facts. You can follow that up with FAIR journalistic evaluation of possible responsibility for actions and how the pieces may fit into various strategic agendas for the region.
Or… you can continue to do what you did today, which is mislead the public. Look, I understand it’s possible, -even likely- that Assad could be behind much of the killing and violence, but that is exactly when it is crucial NOT TO JUMP THE GUN by making assertions you cannot vet, source, or back up.
If you help mislead the American people into supporting another invasion of another country that did not attack us, more people are going to die because the public is either uninformed or misinformed, and YOU will be responsible as a journalist in a key position who did not do her job. Ms. Maddow, we rely on you to be an honest and unbiased reporter who finds the facts and uses them to lead us to the WHOLE TRUTH.
Someone once said the first casualty of war is truth. If your integrity as a journalist means anything to you, make sure that never, ever happens on your watch.
jeez.talk about beating a dead horse........................
How else you gonna tenderize the old nag?(sorry)
Apparently no one takes this seriously. That's exactly how we wound up in Iraq.
