What happened to the Eurovision stuff? I woulda thought the Finnish vote announcer ("Lordi") at the end of this year's Grand Final would rate a few words. Also, the stuff about Iran recalling its ambassador to Azerbaijan should get some attention. It seems Iran accused Eurovision organizers of planning a gay pride parade. There was no such parade.
I'm just sitting here wondering how Rachel could write a book like "Drift" and then become a happy on-air cheerleader for yet another US military action against a foreign country that has not attacked us, this time in Syria...
Will the real Rachel Maddow please stand up?
So, a totalitarian regime slaughtering innocent people isn't a justifiable basis for action? Glad the US didn't take that attitude in the 1940s; otherwise, Europe would be speaking German all over.
Kiev they are killing women and children indiscriminately. Everyone should have a problem with that. I guess if they were shelling your family your ok with it then?
Double post.
I don't know, I just don't know how to get on facebook, I give up.
Two points: (1) The documentary purpose of "Drift" and Rachel's on-air assertions that Assad *is* behind the attacks (when her primary corroboration is the same US government that lied us into Iraq) DO conflict. (
2) Did anyone ask themselves why people are dying in Syria now? The answer is because the USA and Israel are trying to usurp power in that country and overthrow the current government.
It's almost like asking why there was militia-based violence and extra-judicial killings of citizens in the American colonies in 1776. That would be because an organized group was attempting to subvert the established British power structure governing the colonies. In other words, people are dying in Syria right now because right or wrong, the USA is -and has been for some time- fomenting political discord and covertly attempting to subvert and overthrow the current government.
It is Dick Cheney's unfinished agenda for toppling the governments of every Arab state in the region surrounding Israel. The plan is still in effect, and is being completed by Obama. As a candidate he didn't say he was going to do this. Not coincidentally, that political characteristic sounds a lot like some republican governors I have heard about in the news recently. -Say one thing, do another. Obama is a poser who betrayed his own party. His involvement in these developments proves it. His use of the US veto in the UN Security Council to protect illegal Israeli Settlement construction proves it. Sadly there is nothing we can do. Republicans win if Obama gets reelected, and they win if he isn't reelected.
Here's a related question that I really have no answer for, but it seems worthy of consideration:
Did US escalation of the Viet Nam War (A) reduce the overall level of violence, along with the total number of attrocities, deaths, and casualties, or (B) increase the overall level of violence, along with the total number of attrocities, deaths, and casualties? We know the outcome of that war. What we don't know is if our involvement caused more deaths and suffering to get the same outcome. Perhaps in another decade, we can run the same evaluation on the war in Iraq and what Obama is clearly going to do in Syria.
I think it's time for Congressional Democrats to scream "OMG voter fraud, OMG"!, then spend the next few years inventing useless legislation to ban legal medical procedures and more devious bills to purge old and poor conservatives from voting eligibility!
I've got a great way to keep the GOP off the rolls: fact-based testing. No Republican politician will be able to vote ever again.
So Charlie White is convicted of voter fraud in Indiana, yet the Indiana GOP (at least Gov. Daniels) still supports him and thinks he's the best person in the state to be the secretary. Meanwhile, Thaddeus McCotter doesn't have enough control and oversight of his own campaign in Michigan to see that they collected and submitted enough valid signatures to be on the ballot, yet the GOP there (and nationally) think he's the best person to represent that district?
Something is seriously wrong with these people - not just the guys themselves; I mean those who still support these guys. The GOP used to have at least a few folks who were honest and diligent. It appears that's not the case anymore.
