https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3646773840338 Are you aware there is a protest going on tonite re: the NJ CD 9 race. Rothman wants to impound absentee ballots cast in Paterson - which is filled with minority votes for Pascrell. Congressman Rothman just ripped a page out of the GOP playbook.
The Lilly Ledbetter law is a no brainer! Ask any Congressman if they passed away ,God forbid, and their spouse had to work to support their family, wouldn't they want their spouse to make the same money as a man doing the same job?
The story that eludes the media is the impact of the post-middle class/poor on tomorrow's recall election here in WI. As invisible as we consider them to be, most still have the power of the vote. In fact, they came out by the millions to vote for Barack Obama in the hope that he could begin a discussion about US poverty today. Remember, we have lost nearly 1/3 of the middle class so far, with those people becoming the working poor, or far worse off. Historically, when the richest few gained too much power, the poor and middle classes united to successfully push back, to the benefit of both. But this time, we shut the poor out. I'm sure you can understand that the poor now have no incentive to cast a vote to benefit a middle class that essentially threw them off a cliff. That's a lot of votes lost, which could explain why Barrett and Walker are currently tied. I think we ought to consider rethinking the great divide between the middle class and the post-middle class/poor. "Solidarity Forever -- but only for those who still have jobs and are still in the middle class" just doesn't have the same impact.
Just saw Gail Collins' segment about the strange and foreign land -- Texas. They're saying should change from "don't mess with Texas" to "messed up Texas." I've come up with a solution for the crazy effect of Texas on the rest of the nation, Give it back to Mexico. Or at least let them succeed, and see how truly independent the can be when they are on they're own. Of course we would allow true Americans living in Texas to immigrate to the US, as long as they renounce their Texas citizenship!! Remember what Rachel says about being in on the joke!!
As a proud native Texan, I applaud both Rachel and Gail Colliins for this segment and Gail for her new book. Not all Texans are so proud of Rick Perry's reign over Texas. Check out the Texas Freedom Network's work to keep track of education and health care issues in our state. We could secede (check your spelling succeed, please), but it would still not alleviate the situations of women and people of color in our state. We'll stay in the Union and keep up the good fight. A proud Texan Democrat!
Curses!! Darn spell check (not to mention being a lousy typist), I chose the first suggestion without looking and ended up with the wrong word. Also, not intended as a slight against the "good" people of Texas.
What if, you could only chose between being a puppet or a robot ? Black or white, and no other colors. Or at best, just shades of gray. . . . Now you know how the GOP feels.
Pondering: what do you mean, explain please? gray? in regard to GOP
What is going on with the voters rights? How do we know that our votes are correctly being counted?
