Rachel interviewed House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi at an event held in the Leader's honor at the Sewall-Belmont House & Museum in Washington, D.C. this afternoon. The two discussed the Leader's work on HIV/AIDS, her support for women's rights during her 25 years of service in the House, and how the Leader's past continues to influence her work in politics to this day.

We absolutely love you..Nancy Pelosi. You are a dedicated, serious, intelligent, effective, insightful, heartful, humorous, invigorating, abundantly flowing stream of inspiration.
what she said! @neveal5
Thank you, Alice Paul!!!
Julia, if there was any video captured of this event, would you please upload to the blog? Rachel is fantastic in these forums, on either side of the microphone.
It's rewarding to see Ms. Pelosi get a shout-out for all the good work she has done.
A second (if one would help) to the request and comments from fauxpinky. Video, please. Rachel and Pelosi separately are amazing. Together they are a force to be reckoned with.
Sad to see that Maddows ratings keep sinking. The end of her show is coming.
David, thank you for your concern.
The only way to defeat citizens united, before the republicans win everything, is to hope that Romney beats President Obama. Obama or Romney will not improve this economy for years to come. Let Romney take the blame, let the people see how bad they are, then we can overcome citizens united.
Hey Rachel,
If you think a constitutional amendment is long term I think you may be completely missing the real issue. The real flaw in our democracy as I see it, isn't that any particular special interest has a very loud voice. Its that the listener can be so easily swayed by what amounts to simple propaganda.
I find a small amount of critical thinking can counter any amount of money, and from your segment on the polling of California's tobacco tax, I feel there is very little of it happening in those that choose to vote.
The main reason I watch your show every day is that you approach every story, every topic and every guest with such a sharp incisive arguments and open mind. I truly get the sense that your mind could be changed at any moment if you found your argument to be faulty. I get the feeling you wouldn't mind a bit and would happily start thinking through the ramifications of that change.
This is exactly what is missing from our electorate. Without a critical mass of critical thinking I cant see any way a democracy can successfully serve its constituents.
Thanks for inspiring me to write this note.
P.S. You went through the bay area and did not speak at Stanford? Really?
Back in the 60s, when I had temporary military duty in Washington, my wife and I rented a room in the Sewall-Belmont house which was then owned by the Women's National Party. In order to be accepted at tenants, we were interviewed by Alice Paul, the head of the party. We didn't really know who who she was, but we were just so impressed by this imposing old lady. Only later did we learn of her accomplishments over many decades. We're glad that we got to meet her.
Disclosure of political ad backers is helpful but must be part of a plan rather than relying on it as the biggest answer. I am a Californian and the ads against raising tax on cigarettes listed the backers. Nonetheless we lost the proposition. I was stunned and disheartened. We have a lot of research facilities in California to work on cancer. Still we lost.
You talk about how bad Romy is and all that Vietnam thing and Obama never
Serve he never work in hes life. This is so stupid and yes maybe no one can improve the Economy
That Obama distroid
Yesterday was such great day for America..!
Watching the fat head Ed Commie Schultz squealing, the Maddow Cow Disease whine, Lawrence O’Donnell swallowing frantically, and hardboiled thrill-up-his-leg Matthewchiefski stutter was the most hilarious television in years..! LOL
Seriously, the MSNBC viewership rating is greatly skewed up by normal Americans watching MSNBC just to get the laughs from their clowns..
I shouldn't feed the trolling troll...but!!! How was yesterday a great day for America? Can you list some positive things without villifying anyone? I had a great talk about American politics with, gasp, real life Europeans, from actual European countries...who noticed how very polarized and childish our vastly broken system is at present. Does Walker's gazillion-dollar bid to keep his seat [ I exaggerate but not by more than a few billion ] go toward healing the political schism in any way, shape or form? Can you address that in your remarks if you care to remark, bpepik?
