Read today's German newspapers (or try to, as I did in Berlin) in print and online, and it becomes readily apparent that President Obama isn't having a very good month, so far. But the headlines don't tell the full story.
A new international Pew poll shows that a declining majority of German citizens still approve of President Obama, down to 52 percent among those surveyed from 64 percent three years ago. And on the surface that number appears alarming. Berlin, after all, is where Mr. Obama campaigned for the American presidency in the summer of 2008, drawing a massive crowd of 100,000 and comparisons to John F. Kennedy in a city where there is now a Kennedy museum.
In short, Germans are disappointed with President Obama. In particular, with his policy of employing drone strikes on terrorism suspects, which likely isn't going to be at the list of any reason why Americans are disappointed with Mr. Obama's performance. Only 38 percent of those surveyed approved of the Obama administration's strategy (just 37 percent in France).
But despite President Obama's declining approval ratings on the European continent, an overwhelming majority see no reason to change course. Nearly nine in 10 say they'd like to see Mr. Obama elected to a second term.

President Obama, I just love that guy he just knows how to really say it and be so right about it all. LMAO!!!!
Berlin, after all, is where Mr. Obama campaigned for the American presidency in the summer of 2008
That really puzzled me when he did go there in the middle of the campaign. I really did not get the point of that. That said, I really don't think it matters what his approval rating is overseas. What matters is his approval rating (meaning votes) is in the U.S..
But how likely are they to vote for him?
Voter fraud!!!! :)
I'll translate for the Maddow Blog any day! ;) We might not agree with everything Obama does over here, but we DEFINITELY don't agree with the policies of people running against him, now or in '08. To be honest, I don't think Obama being popular in Europe would help him win the election, it sounds like something that will be turned around in an instant as in "well of course crazy Europeans like him, hes a socialist just like them". So maybe he should push the boundaries of international law and regulations some more with his drones to win himself some conservative votes due to decreasing popularity in way too liberal Europe :)
How do you prove what did not happen ?
In 2008, banks began toppling like dominos. The resulting forty percent devaluation should have put some forty present of Americans out of work. And if The GOP had had it's way , I see no reason that it would not have happened. The GOP said, " Don't save anybody ! " No bail-outs for anyone ! Why ?? More money for them. Let the companies die and buy up the fire sales, then cash it out for ten times what you paid. Unfortunately their plan has a fault. What if there is no one left to buy their bootie ? What if the economy had shrunk to the point that no one needed their stolen goods ? Yes, they would still be on top. But on top of what ? A smoldering heap ? My friends , we came very, very close to watching all the wheels grind to a halt ! It would have made history alright !! The Dark Ages made history. But not the good kind.
The Germans would like to see Obama elected for a second term because THEY remember George W. Bush.
Who cares what Europe thinks? Not me.
