The Florida voter-roll purge continues in two counties, and legal voters may have been disenfranchised.

I wonder how many of the purged Florida voters are female and had recently married thus changing their names such that they no longer matched their maiden names held in the data base used. This very problem happened in NY. Some administrator at DMV (ruled by the court to have been way over zealous) denied renewals of drivers licenses to people whose names didn't match a federal data base that was used. Over 200,000 licenses were effected and all hell broke loose until the courts stopped it.
In Florida, and other places too, they'd rather disenfranchise thousands of people (mostly those they think might be Democrats) than risk one or two non-citizens voting.
In Lee and Charlotte counties in Florida, people from around the nation are mailing, emailing and calling county election officials, pleading with them to continue the voter purge.

The written article doesn't mention it. Watch the video for the interview with county election official from Lee County.
Lee and Charlotte counties in Florida are part of the Redneckistan portion of Florida that can be seen here

Watch the video closely . The letters they flash from "out of State " seem to all have the same header ....probably a form letter posted on some wingnut site and emailed by your crazy uncle
Why would anyone want to see people purged .
Oh wait....a shrinking minority trying to establish apartheid
RE: Mr. Adelson, the Brothers Koch and the rest of the deep pockets who are funding SuperPACs for various candidates...and sometimes more than one at the same time...
Think upon this; after the conventions all those SuperPACs will, in effect, become ONE enormous anti-Obama TERRAPAC. There is simply NOT any way the few remaining public workers unions can match that sort of money.
It is true that "the few remaining public workers unions can match that sort of money". Not even with the other unions.
BUT as Sherrod Brown said, the important thing is to have "enough" and then have a strong ground game. (I don't remember where I watched him - was it Rachel's show?)
We Democrats maybe relied too heavily on the unions in the past. But remember - there is strength in numbers!!
True enough, maphi. I was simply pointing out that as far as the Citizens' United States of America is concerned; we're outgunned. We HAVE to have numbers and a better message and ground game to win this. GET OUT THERE !
It's really a simple concept:
All eligible US citizens should be able to vote. Whether they vote or not is up to them.
No in-eligible person should be able to vote.
Any attempt to prevent an unknown number of in-eligible people from voting that knowingly prevents THOUSANDS of eligible US citizens from voting is frankly criminal!
A larger issue is this:
The problem is not that many US citizens lack the documentation to prove their citizenship to the satisfaction of the Republicans to "purify" the "voting booth" (or whatever)
The problem is that many US citizens lack the documentation to prove their citizenship to ensure that they have full access to the benefits and responsibilities that come with citizenship.
This is an issue that absolutely needs to be addressed - for reasons beyond just voting. Only when this has been improved dramatically can the requirement to produce the documentation at the polling place be fairly enforced.
These purges, coupled with Arizona's 'papers please' and similar laws, will lead us inexorably toward National Identity Cards.
The Law of Unintended Consequences.
Then the right wingers will rail against the identity cards that they created the need for.

I know at least one Rape-Public-CON Goober-ner who'll be frustrated if legal voters weren't disenfranchised, that having been the entire point of this process from the jump.

Nice to see that crazy moron in Texas got convicted of murder. "Stand your ground"? The neighbor was two houses away! Did he not ever hear of calling the cops for a noise complaint?
Sadly, this proves that the morons and idiots in "Rescue Me" were indeed a representative sample of firefighters (as guys I know who are firefighters have told me).
Wicker is on cspan now spewing out the term "Watergate". He is trying to rev the GOP up with a false sense of emergency about leaks. Instead of working for the people he is wasting the tax payers money with a stupid scheme saying Wall St.Journal has received inside information. What a joke I guess everybody in the GOP has just been given license to lie. They are blowing this way out of proportion trying to make it sound like Watergate, what a fiasco. Inhofe also was on there wasting tax dollars on his own personal agenda going after the FAA again just because they told the truth about his almost taking out an entie working crew that was working in an airport in 2010. Are they now using the Senate floor to defend their own recklessness? They are getting paid for standing up and defending themselves when the FAA already said they wouldn't press charges. What about the jobs? The entire Republican party is getting contributions from big oil to continue their destruction of our God-given soil. And to continue to collect tax subsidies that they don't need? Or do they? They probably use this money towards contributions to these non-working Republican Senators.
