First up from the God Machine this week is a look at the religio-political impact of President Obama's big announcement yesterday on immigration policy. As a rule, when the Obama White House makes a bold move on culture-war policies -- contraception access, LGBT rights -- some of the president's fiercest critics are found in faith communities.
Yesterday, however, just the opposite was true: high-profile religious groups and leaders believe Obama's right and Republicans are wrong about this.
President Barack Obama is receiving political cover for his decision to stop deporting some young illegal immigrants from two big groups with whom his relations have been rocky: evangelical Christians and Catholics.
"We do give credit where credit is due," said Kevin Appleby, director of Migration and Public Affairs for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, on Friday, when Obama made his announcement.
"We welcome the announcement, it will provide important relief to a vulnerable group that we believe should remain in the country," Appleby said. "They didn't come here on their own volition; they came here with their parents. They are virtually Americans."
Of particular interest was the reaction from evangelical organizations, the leaders of which met with White House officials for a briefing before yesterday's announcement. This included Southern Baptist leader Richard Land, a far-right Obama critic, who not only conceded yesterday that the president had done the right thing, but also urged his Republican allies to follow Obama's lead.
If the president hoped to get some political cover from religious groups on this, he's getting his wish.
Also from the God Machine this week:
* Rush Limbaugh argued this week that those participating in the Nuns On The Bus tour have gone "Feminazi." Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of the National Catholic Social Justice Lobby, was not amused. (Well, maybe she was a little amused.)
* Remember the North Dakota ballot measure we discussed earlier in the week, which would have exempted religious groups from all kinds of state laws? It failed miserably at the ballot box.
* Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) of Texas is under the very strange impression that if ENDA became law, "Christian schools will be forced" to employ people "of the persuasion of being homosexual." In case there are any doubts about this, that's ridiculously untrue.
* In a surprising election-year comment, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) argued this week, "Mormons sort of have an extra chromosome when it comes to American exceptionalism. Mormons do have an added dose of a belief in American exceptionalism." As best as I can tell, no one has asked Mitt Romney, the nation's first Mormon major-party nominee, whether he agrees with the sentiment.

Hmm... Mitt Romney does seem "happier than you and me."
But he is definitely more "greedy" and thinks of himself as "more deserving" than you or me!
*sigh* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2tZqXWa7no
WOW, that was so OBVIOUS - silly me!!! Of course EVERYBODY knew what you were referencing, exept people like me who never listen to DEVO and think that song is a little insulting to people with Down's Syndrome!!
Sigh!!!!!
I didn't get it either.
I don't mind being that un-cool.
Sure, I'll add to the levity!
http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/af344/bilhelm/Potato.jpg
You could say that Mike Lee is Down's with American exceptionalism!
One of my best friend's in high school had an older brother with Down's Syndrome. He loved his music, a great thing to have in common. He was often my better; as he worked hard to never let harassment get him down. At the same time, he understood how difficult I sometimes found that to be.
@hells littlest angel Romney is clueless, thus ignorance is bliss. He was so happy here in MA as governor that he left the State to campaign for POTUS (and failing) he then left office with our state much further in debt than we had been before he bought the Governor's seat.
If you or I had his wealth and recognition (for good or bad) we would be much happier, especially at the last and first weeks of the month.
A Texas member of the GOP, mistaken in a hyperbolic and polarizing way about a law? Why, now I've heard everything... kind of like earlier, when I discovered that gravity pulled downward and that water was wet.
Maybe there is no gravity and you are being push down by outer space.
Nope, it's not gravity, it's those damn taxes and government regulations that are dragging you down! Universal gravity, huh? Sounds suspiciously close to global warming!
Yup . . . maybe statements like this are why God didn't choose Louie to ghost write His book. He's easily confused and gets simple facts screwed up.
No surprise there!!! Anyone who has in or near North Dakota knows the population of that state prides themselves on being "sensible" and "middle of the road" - and they don't like "extremist views" on either side. Although they are "labeled" a "red state", that really isn't true. They do tend to have Republican governors but they often send Democrats to Congress! It is more of what the person has shown he stands for and how "responsible" the voters think the person is, more than what party they belong to, that is the deciding factor that most often determines who gets elected. Ideologs don't stand much chance in ND!!
Another thing North Dakota DOESN'T like is "drama" in their politics - the weather gives them enough drama - thank you very much!
The rest of this country could learn a LOT from North Dakota
Yup, a lot can be learned by walking into a sub-zero freezer and the first thing learned is--I don't like it here.
LOL, yep there is that!!! And I don't think I've ever been in ND when the snow fell straight down.....
The outcome of the N. Dakota ballot measures -- bad stuff voted down by huge margins -- together with the win by Giffords' former staffer -- has given me some hope that the right wing deluge isn't necessarily going to make it this time.
I'm sure the Mormons and the Scientologists, the two man-made science-fiction religions created in America do indeed have an "extra dose" of "American exceptionalism" (as in: Americans are exceptionally idiotic when it comes to fruitcake religions started by con artists)
Both of them are proof that Richard Burton was right when he said, "the more closely I study religion, the more convinced I am man never worshiped anything but himself."
Mitt worships money and gold as do most of our elected officials. Man made god in his image for a reason though.
The source of Mormon leadership's delusional insanity, and their historical hatred of African Americans and Native Americans, and their current dislike of the LGBT community:

Additional evidence of impaired mental function:
“Mormons sort of have an extra chromosome when it comes to American exceptionalism,"
Senator Mike Lee Utah-R (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/232337-sen-mike-lee-mormons-have-added-dose-of-a-belief-in-america)
Extra chromosome = Down's syndrome, also known as trisomy 21
They can't help it people, they just need to be fenced off into a corner and kept there where they can procreate and fight all they want. I guarantee that after about 3-4 years they will have self-cannibalized, this is pretty easy, just send them all to Utah. In fact, I think someone should start and organization that helps people release themselves from Mormonism, like a recovery clinic where they can have that extra chromosome removed; and they lived happily ever after. Amen.
PROOF OF LOW IQ:
Mormon opinions of Native Americans
Mormon Genocide Doctrine:
"I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today.... The day of the Lamanites is nigh. For years, they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised. In this picture of the twenty Lamanite missionaries, fifteen of the twenty were as light as Anglos, five were darker but equally delightsome The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.
At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl - sixteen - sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents - on the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather....These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness. One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated.” (General Conference Report, October, 1960; Improvement Era, December 1960, pp. 922-923) [Appendix p. A-15]

If you think about it, the only cure for the Mormons is something called "evolution.” Most likely, if you are a Mormon, then you will not understand the meaning of “evolution.” To remedy this unfortunate lack of knowledge, I suggest you refer to either Google or Wikipedia to resolve your questions about this new, to you, and wonderful theory.
I didn't know Michael Jackson was a Mormon!!!
Home placement program. Is that what it was called? That's one way to assimilate another's future generation. Made the next wave of land reallocation more feasible, I guess.
That was prior to the Indian Civil Rights Act of 1968, and the American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978.
I guess Senator Mike Lee has found something to replace the "God views me superior because of my white skin."
But he's just one Mormon. (Who happens to be in a position of leadership.) Still... I don't think it's fair to stereotype Mormons of today, or any group, based on historical context, or we'd all look like inhumane asshats.
** I have often wondered how the Utah Mormons felt about the Anasazi's practice of alternative lifestyle partnerships within tribes. Odd... can't locate any internet available published material on that recorded fact.
Let me clarify "practice of alternative lifestyles" in post above.
It was the inclusion and acceptance of variable gender life partnerships based on the paring of inate traits and personal preferences. It would be acceptable, say... for a woman who was an avid hunter/gatherer/artisan to take either a woman or male partner who favored and was skilled in more domestic disciplines.

The jury in the child sex abuse trial of a Roman Catholic monsignor in Philadelphia ended an eighth day of deliberations without a verdict on Thursday.
Jurors, who have been deliberating since June 1, asked two questions of Judge M. Teresa Sarmina - their 23rd and 24th queries - about what constitutes conspiracy and whether intent matters.
The judge told the jury it did not have to find intent if the behavior ended up being criminal and sent them out of the courtroom to resume deliberating.
As Monsignor William Lynn's defense attorney Thomas Bergstrom was telling the judge he disagreed with her ruling, he was interrupted by shouts from the clearly angry prosecutor, Patrick Blessington. "Enough. Sit down," Blessington shouted. "I have seen better manners in a barnyard."

some more important "twig" news
(AP) — Sharpening an election-year confrontation over religious freedom and government health insurance rules, the nation's Catholic hospitals on Friday rejected President Barack Obama's compromise for providing birth control coverage to their women employees.
The Catholic Health Association was a key ally in Obama's health care overhaul, defying opposition from church bishops to help the president win approval in Congress. But the group said Friday it does not believe church-affiliated employers should have to provide birth control as a free preventive service, as the law now requires.
The hospital group's decision calls into question a compromise offered by the president himself only months ago, under which the cost of providing birth control would be covered by insurance companies and not religious employers. While churches and other places of worship are exempt from the birth control mandate, nonprofits affiliated with a religion, such as hospitals, are not.
With the Catholic Health Association now voicing concerns, opponents gained a powerful endorsement.
In its letter, the group said the government should either broaden the exemption for religious employers, or pay directly for the birth control coverage

new study show that california's prop 8 and the rise of romney has turned many people against mormonism.
According to the paper, concern about Mormonism has remained relatively stable among Evangelicals, with 36 percent expressing aversion to an LDS candidate in 2007 and 33 percent doing so in 2012.
Among non-religious voters, that number shot up 20 points in the past five years, from 21 percent in 2007 to 41 percent in February.
There were also substantial increases in Mormon-averse voters among liberals — 28 percent in 2007 and 43 percent in 2012 — as well as moderates, who went from 22 percent in 2007 to 32 percent this year.

I really wouldn't worry that much about the LDS church:
http://www.religiondispatches.org/archive/culture/5611/mormon_numbers_not_adding_up
Most people realize that the church has reached its heyday and that the LDS church is "fluffing" its numbers to make it appear bigger than it actuallly is!
I suspect that the post-mortem baptisms are mostly about number fluffing.
not sure i want to think about mormons fluffing anything...don't they have underwear to prevent that kind of thing?
I think maybe Sister Campbell might borrow a comment from Molly about being insulted by Flush Rimbaugh.
"I have been attacked by Rush Limbaugh on the air, an experience somewhat akin to being gummed by a newt. It doesn't actually hurt, but it leaves you with slimy stuff on your ankle."
I miss Molly.
Me too!
Her "analysis" of Romney would have been just precious!!
A Texas Republican failing to understand an issue and blowing it out of proportion? Say it isn't so, they've always shown to be such level-headed, sensible, intelligent people who would never do anything so stupid! Like, I don't know, pray for rain while cutting funds to fire-fighters during a drought, or threaten to secede from the Union because of government spending that only exists inside their mental bubble.
Also, Rush Limbaugh insulting a woman? Didn't we already do this a little while ago, and wasn't it a fantastic waste of time for pretty much everyone involved that only served to damage Mr. Limbaugh's sponsorship?
Plus it's good to see at least one state showing some common sense at the ballot box. Seems all too rare nowadays, I must admit.
Genuinely surprised about religious leaders siding with Obama over something. Really, that one caught me off-guard. Here I was already getting the "religious leaders are hypocrites" stamp ready to slam down on them like the terrible hammer of judgement that it is when they turn around and surprise me. I'm not quite sure what else to say, really.
Finally, obviously Mormons think America's better than even most other obnoxious super-patriots think it is. Their entire religion is founded in America, not just imported from other places. Them thinking America is totally spar-spangled awesome is not surprising.
It's just another reason for me to dislike them. Then again I find the entire concept of "American Exceptionalism" to be terminally stupid and that it smacks of a major superiority complex. Why can't they be more like the British when it comes to how they perceive their country? We like our country fine but don't claim it's the best and are perfectly fine picking at little faults with it, without having to live in fear of being called a traitor who wants to destroy Magna Carta.
American Exceptionalism? Wonder how anybody on the right to cotton to that theory. We haven't even won a war since 1945.
Funnily it's always the "Boomers" who say it. The people born in the aftermath of World War 2. And since then America's grand achievements include having some stern looks across the dinner table at Russia, nearly blowing up the world, messing up Vietnam, impeaching a President for his penis, electing George W. Bush twice, messing up Iraq, messing up Afghanistan, and plunging the world economy into the toilet.
Hardly qualifications befitting "the greatest nation on Earth".
Oh, and please don't take this as me hating on America. I love America, particularly your telly, and I very much would like to move to one of your blue states one day (hopefully as far away from Alabama as is physically possible) I just have an outsider's perspective. Which leads me to assess America as being kind of arrogant about itself.
@ReservoirAngel, please don't hurt the feelings of our radical right. They're falling short of being exceptional at camouflaging their ignorance and shame with self-glorification and resentment towards all others.
The rest of us are as much to blame. I think many were too busy to realize we had a national shortage of babysitters. We're working on it... we're working on it.
OK you've hurt my feelings Angel...it is not always the 'boomers'...it's the boomers that evaded the draft and/or Vietnam and then 40 years later bemoan that they were too BUSY to fight. I'm a boomer, I've traveled all over the world and although I am ALWAYS happy to be home (I DO love America!) I don't live in a bubble that doesn't read history and see what's happening today! I think some people are arrogant (and stupid)...Paul Ryan, Romney, oh hell the entire Republican party but I have faith we're gonna kick ass and get it right...eventually.
Mego, I'm sorry. I should have said that it's not all Boomers who think that way. I know it isn't. I was just saying it normally seems that people who do think that way are usually Boomers.
Of course there are exceptions. I was in kind of a rage-and-irritation-inspired zone, I should have made it more clear.
I love Gawd, ask anyone and you always get an opinion but never one tangible piece of evidence! Hate to break it to you churchies but you already employ homosexuals.. and no, I'm not talking about your fine collection of pedophiles!
Dang it now they are going to demand all homosexuals be marked with a red H. (think they wouldn't?)
"Exceptionalism" is like when christians prey/hope/wish that ONLY thru Jebus will they go to he,van? The unexceptionalists, for no other raisen than guessing wrong at the shell game known as faith-based religion will be sent to an eternity of burning in hell.. It seems to me that the knowledge that Aunt Molly (the agnostic) is burning/being raped in hell for an eternity would take some of the shine off of being in heaven?
It seems counter-intuitive, the desire to alienate rather than enlist,, especially in politics.
The christians have the "smiling" thing going for them (claims of special happiness). They also have "outreach",, knocking on doors to search out the intellectually lazy. I don't know how but, I thank Goddess for allowing secular humanism into public schools.. And if health is (and should be) a societal priority they have faith healing/hypno therapy going for them. Jebus realized how very susceptable humans are to peer presure after reading about hypnosis in Wikipedia.
But, gawdammitalltoheck, the bleeping christians also have ruined/hijacked the very sensible apocalyptic worldview. A compelling secular goal is that there are going to be a multitude of emergencies in our future and we should be preparing for them. This implies humanity's survival to be a goal.
When people have been in previous emergency situations (world wars) nations become socialistic.
The Socialist Democratic Party in 1933 went from broke-ass to Kick-ass in four years without borrowing a nickel. They then came very close to conquering the world. What if they had applied themselves to civil service instead? They would all be driving Mercedes and have condos on the moon.
Today we borrow our money from a socialist country. Why do we "have" to borrow money from China to build a bridge in the US? Doesn't the bridge have inherent value such that we (the government) can just "print" money to get r dun? Sure, inflationary pressure, so control speculation.. The rich can spend all the money they want on themselves and on new job-creating enterprises, not on cornering molybdemum, etc. Doesn't inflation "hurt" the rich as much as it hurts the poor?
10+ billions of people burning in hell for an eternity for no other raisen than guessing the wrong religion... Strikes me as immoral,. How does that get traction?
My guess is the whole "outreach" attribute.
From Worldwide Religious News NY Times. June 14, 2012: Church Battles Efforts to Ease Sex Abuse Suits. Several states are considering changing the statute of limitations for sexual abuse suits to be filed. This would allow victims of child abuse from all sources not just clergy more access to justice. The Catholic Church is hiring lobbyists, handing out postcards for your legislator etc in an attempt to block any changes, and have argued the changes are more an effort to bankrupt the church than to help the victim. Seriously folks, just how many cases are they afraid will be exposed that they fear bankruptcy? In light of their self-righteous opposition to woman's choice, nuns supporting women and the poor, and their highly profitable hospitals and clinics crying about religious freedom, they obviously feel no shame continuing to hide their criminal, immoral behaviors and the violation of the trust of children and society world-wide. They are perfect GOP allies. Riches are more important than virtue and honesty. Amen
wonder if senator lee would let us in on where willard's "extra chromosome" was while he was dodging nam? while he's at it, i'd also like to hear about his offspring. five strapping sons, three wars, not one minute in uniform. i'll make the same remark about him i made about dick cheney: if all the other americans of his generation had been blessed with his courage and patriotism, we wouldn't have suffered a casualty.
You know, the fact that there has been no Romney to serve in the military in at least three generations is REALLY starting to strike me as odd.
I've been thinking about everyone I know, and I don't know ONE family that hasn't had AT LEAST one person in three generations serve!!
I was just about to reply with a "really, not one? I haven't had someone in three generations of my family in a war" but then I remembered that 3 generations up from me would include my grandfathers, who both fought in World War 2.
Chalk that one up to temporary idiocy, I suppose.
The Romneys have had more important things to do than defending freedom. Like feathering their financial nest.
I've met and admired LDS missionaries that I've met on isolated Pacific Islands. It's tough work and requires dedication. What's curious about Romney's mission was that through his request it was extended beyond the normal period, keeping him out of the draft, and that he spent all of it in France, where at least the quiche is excellent.
Robert ... I'm probably wrong about this, but I don't believe that there was any rule or law that prohibited Romney from enlisting in the military once he finished with his "mission."
For what it's worth, here's a description of Immanuel Kant's view of religion.
"The nadir of perversion is reached when the church becomes an instrument in the hands of a reactionary government; when the clergy, whose function it is to console and guide a harassed humanity with religious faith and hope and charity, are made the tools of theological obscurantism and political oppression."
The quote is from p. 212 on Will Durant's "Story of Philosophy."
In news about important home-grown American religions, despite what you may have read on boing boing or elsewhere, Reverend Ivan Stang's announcement that he was retiring from his position as Sacred Scribe and general leader of the Church of the SubGenius was a hoax.
Yes, it was Stang saying it, but he was lying through his teeth (and his internet connection.) An official recantation/denial/nyeah-nyeah is scheduled to be issued tomorrow.
Oh, and the world is still coming to an end on July 5, 1998.
Praise Bob!
Actually too much of this stuff that has been going on for over 30 years has been pretty disgustingly sick. People like the Koch Brothers have been donating to these extreme radical groups for years for the purpose of just causing hatred and confusion, just so they can continue to have their rather dark agenda. And this dark agenda has caused way too much misery, despair and death throughout the world. It literally is one of the sickest forms of manipulating and controlling people that has ever been done and all for the sake of craving power, arrogance, corruption, greed, hypocrites and deceiving. This has been one of the worst atrocities conceived in the name of humanity. And their favorite son Romney really does show how deceptively dark they all really are. Romney the very person who is really brutal and lusting for power in order to control people to do his dirty work of putting others into misery, despair and death. But don’t be fooled, Romney is not the only sickening person (Political Psychopath) the GOP/Republican party has.
"a belief in American exceptionalism"
Well, isn't their very origin story based on the belief that something really exceptional happened? In a Blue State to boot! (upstate NY, plates foundation of religion found)
One can explain Obama's positions by simply understanding one things about him: He's always campaigning and trying to get votes. This action falls in that category.
And the party who made Watergate a household word is aghast!
A President heading into re-election is campaigning for votes? Stop the presses, this must be unconstitutional somehow (god knows according to Fox News and their viewer-base everything else the guy does somehow is)
An interesting point, Angel. About a year ago I was watching the State of the Union address on Fox News and when it was over, the talking heads at Fox analyzed it.
Charles Krauthammer, a smart guy, contributed this observation: It was a "remarkable" speech -- but it was a "campaign" speech.
It was as if the appelation -- "campaign speech" -- were enough to dismiss anything the president said. It reminded me somewhat of The Godfather movies and, "It's not personal; it's just business," as if that justified the murder that was about to take place.
It goes without saying that whatever any politician says or does is something that's aimed at getting elected. A president can hardly say anything in public without its being a campaign move.
The hate shown in these posts (and on the Maddow show) is extraordinary. So much for a big tent.
1/2 the country pays no taxes, it's not the Republican half. So the money being wasted by the federal government isn't coming from Democrats, or non-taxpayers, how could it be? It's not their money.
It is so easy to give away someone else's money especially when it gets you votes and power.
Democrat math: Take from1 person, give to 3 others, net gain is 2 votes. Think about it.
@HROC,
Everyone pays taxes, in some form or another. Some working class are just barely able to support their families on their stagnant wages. You think they have extra money to pay INCOME tax?
And don't kid yourself. I live in a highly represented Republican area. I know a good sample of who's actually on welfare; which I don't mind as is necessitated for survival.
What I really find despicable is corporate welfare; their big money fixing policy to ensure the continuation of our tax dollars feeding big oil subsidies money when many of these same richest corps in the world get away with paying NO income or capital gains tax. These leeches are HUGE !!
You're kidding, right?
lol..no taxes! I wish!
Silly troll!
Half the country pays no income tax because they're not making enough money to be able to. They still pay the other kinds of taxes that apply to them.
Income tax is what you're talking about, HROC; there's a minimum amount you have to make to pay it. Since the GOP half of the country has created a situation where Americans are expected to get by on less than that amount, that IS the GOP's fault. And here's the thing: I'll guarantee there are fools who vote Republican who aren't paying income tax, and they're not the ones hiding their money in a Swiss bank account like Romney.
"1/2 the country pays no taxes ..."
Since you don't believe that state income taxes, local property taxes, sales taxes, gasoline and other excise taxes, taxes on transfers of property, or various fees and assessments count as "taxes," I'm sure you and your Republican buddies won't mind if states and municipalities increase them in order to provide services to their citizens.
It would be OK with you the federal government raised FICA and Medicare taxes, since those apparently don't count, either. The same would be true for the federal gasoline tax, which could be increased to pay for road construction and maintenance. Or for corporate income taxes, which are paid indirectly by consumers as they purchase products and services from businesses.
We can safely assume, therefore, that there will be no claims from those on the right crying about "tax increases" when such proposals to go the ballot. Right??
HROC,
GE, the largest company in the United States, also paid no taxes on earnings of $14.2 Billion, so what's your point?
HROC, your post is a little hard to understand. For one thing, everybody pays taxes, although not necessarily income taxes. They pay a federal tax every time they fill up their gas tank, pay property taxes, buy tobacco products or other consumer goods.
And it's unclear how you believe the government is somehow funneling money those who pay no income tax. You mean by funding jobs to repair the infrastructure or something? Or unemployment benefits that are keeping some of us off the streets?
My income is less than $1000 per month. I've worked hard all my life and earned four college degrees after leaving the military. Now, in my 70s, I subsist on Social Security and an Indigent Veterans Pension. You don't know whether I'm a Democrat or a Republican or someone who doesn't care at all.
And how much income tax would you suggest I pay. Or, as Michelle Bachmann put it, how much more "skin in the game" would you like people in my position to have?
My hateing bigots is inescapable irony.
My prefering 10,000 poor people getting another dollar over sam walton getting another 10,000 dollars....
I guess the rich feel they own the economy too.. Any moneys the poor have goes to the rich (poor people don't own section 8 complexes, medicaid goes to doctors and hospitals, food stamp monies end up at Pepsico),,, some of it gets taxed and recycled to the poor..
Through mechanization and efficiency innovations, the goal of industry is to put everyone out of work.
“Why can’t we all just get along?”
RIP
The average CEO at a big company is taking home $14.5 MILLION dollars in salary.
POTUS? What is it, $400,000?
So they automatically consider themselves the rulers, don't they?
The men who sold the world.
2011 the average CEO pay was just over $9 million and on average 60% of that is stock options...
Now go look at pro sprots and those pay days!!!!!
At some point in time all of the walls are going to start crumbling down. We might as well stick our toes in the icy water. It's now or never we have to start shaking hands well, at least smiling at each other. We wished upon a star and a lot of us are having our dreams come true. I will move forward with caution as should we all. It's as if we're trying to peek around the corner but, we are so afraid to reach out. Let's trust in God. I think the first step might be a peaceful communication. We need intellegient and deeply spiritual leaders otherwise we may never come out of this nightmare, we may never wake up.
Nuns take an oath of poverty. They live at the chruch, live for free, pay no taxes.
On wounder the liberals like to have a few of them on TV talking about the Ryan plan...
