Mark your calendars: Ron Paul is kicking off the GOP Convention with a rally in Tampa on Sunday, August 26. In an email to supporters, the Paul campaign said they are expecting "a wonderful crowd."
"The goal of this rally is to kick off the week for our delegates, set the proper and respectful tone, and prove to the GOP establishment is that you and I are the future of the Republican Party -- and that we stand behind our beliefs 100%."
Wearing a collared shirt and tie, Dr. Paul also recorded a 9 minute video message to supporters, telling them "an idea whose time has come cannot be stopped."
"Not winning every single battle is irrelevant if you can win the war of ideas. And that is where we are having our greatest success."
Paul said his supporters will have a presence at the convention and that the rules should be followed -- by both sides. "We should not be disruptive," Paul explained, "but we should not be pushed around."
The 76-year-old congressman also addressed former GOP presidential rival Rick Santorum's claims that Paul supporters are looking for a platform fight and called Santorum people "authoritarians."
"They want to use the government to impose their will on us as individuals."
Look for a struggle over the future of the GOP in the weeks ahead as the Paul campaign communicates with their delegates and continues to participate in state conventions across the country.
Post script: In a press release last night, the Paul campaign said it had won "a significant majority of Iowa's Republican delegates" to the national Republican convention: "Dr. Paul won 10 of 13 delegates elected at today's state convention in addition to having won 11 of 12 delegates elected at last night's district conventions, for a weekend total of 21 of 25 contestable delegates, all unbound."

Ron Paul trying to put a little sugar on sour grapes. Meh!
Or he is winning the war of idea, with the young, exactly as he says he is doing. This should be more of a concern to the Democratic Party than to the GOP.
This will be amusing..can't wait!
There's nothing Paul can do to derail Romney's nomination, but the prospect of a train wreck of a Republican national convention due to the antics of Ron Paul supporters broadcast live on TV is why popcorn was invented.
RP might also split the votes on the right. That could be fun.
Paul isn't going to be on the ballot in November. Even if he were running as a third-party candidate, he doesn't have the support to make a difference.
It's not really clear what Paul is after. He's not really aiming at the White House. Whatever he's after involves playing an out-sized role at the convention, but other than that...
Whatever he's going for, I wouldn't expect it to have any impact on the outcome in November. Whatever happens at the convention, I think it will be more light than heat. High entertainment, maybe, but probably nothing more than that. We'll see.
He is keeping the idea alive, not for political advantage today, but influence tomorrow.
I thought he might be vieing for VP. He feels passionate about The conservative movement. I just think he is trying to make a point, that he isn't ready to throw The Republican party away yet. After this election he will probably surrender to the Independent Party. He is on a 1 man crusade to save The Republican Party. I think it's too late. The Republican Party has been sold to the highest bidder. Congratulations, 1%, you now have a party that will soon be extinct. The Greedy are also miserly, they chose to buy the cheapest party or the party of lesser value. Even in todays' markets you can't substitute good quality with anything. I believe at least in the Democratic party there are those with a high measure of dignity who will not be bought. These are the true patriots, who realize we are still fighting, on our own soil, for the need to be free.
I think you need to include the democrats in there too. Being as Obama appointed Wall street big wigs to his cabinet and his highest contributors are Goldman Sachs and Chase Morgan. Guess who Romneys highest contributors are....Goldman Sachs and Chase Morgan. Hmmmm wonder why they are paying for Obama's ans Romney's election?
Nine minutes? In world of undereducated, non cursive trained, seething breathers of Lords, Vassels, Serfs etc., any TV machine episode longer than 2 minutes, is DOA. Someone call the edit bay for version number two.
Just 'sayin...
Really! Short attention span theater. Isn't there a Gilligan's Island Marathon on WGN?
The self proclaimed gods of the right rant and rave as Rome burns due to their obstruction.
I wonder if these pawns know or even suspect that their buddy Rupert Murdoch has already set the trap? Do they think all he did while in China was introduce basketball so he could sell shoes? Here's an opportunity for you research addicts to do your thing. Check out the timing between Murdoch's visit to China and their sudden interest in capitalism. See if his influence caused this un-China like global interest. Remember the great wall? Remember the boxer rebellion? Granted they did at one time try to expand and conquer but then they withdrew , considering our western ways evil and wasteful.
Elect the republicans who call America a republic and not a democracy but learn Chinese while you are at it.
Ron Paul? Just another straw man to entertain us at the coliseum.
The above con-spiracy theory brought to you by GEeee willikers batman inc.
What some people will or will not do for a buck. I'm not sure there's much they won't do. Murdock sounds like a spy. A very rich spy.
What's he doing with his hands? He looks like he's wheeling a shopping cart...or pushing a lawnmower, or riding a bike or holding onto his walker, or getting a manicure.
I do love how he calls out Santorum and his cult followers. There's nothing better than a rival cult leader fight.
I kept waiting for Nik Wallenda to walk across that tightrope behind Ron Pauls head.
SPOILER: It doesn't happen. Maybe at the RNC.
If you watch the SNL debate skit you can see why they call him Birdman. he flails his hands, probably in frustration over who he is dealing with here. He's like the Wizard of Oz. He really couldn't help the others and now we're stuck with the Tinman, and all he's concerned with is his oil. He needs Big Oil. He cries out when he's getting rusty, Oil can, Oil can, Oil can. And me, I'm just trying to find a way back home. Back to the farm.
I never thought I'd say it but, go Ron Paul! Hell, I'll send them money..
Cool, sounds like it will be a replay of the SDS at the 68 Dem Convention.
I don't think Ron Paul is really running for himself, I think he is forging a path for his son to run.
RP is that constitutional, "small c" constitutional conservative.
The rest of the pack; both parties; are identical in core policies with respect to military adventurism, federal intrusion, and sellouts to foreign entities, for starters.
That was a good Madison quote. I suggest it be followed with a quote from Washington's Farewell Address - the part about the evils of favoritism among foreign countries.
He actually does use that quote quite often "beware of entangling alliances".
Ron Paul wants to define life as starting at conception, build a fence along the US-Mexico border, prevent the Supreme Court from hearing cases on the Establishment Clause or the right to privacy, permitting the return of sodomy laws and the like (a bill which he has repeatedly re-introduced), pull out of the UN, disband NATO, end birthright citizenship, deny federal funding to any organisation which “which presents male or female homosexuality as an acceptable alternative life style or which suggest that it can be an acceptable life style” along with destroying public education and social security, and abolish the Federal Reserve in order to put America back on the gold standard. He was also the sole vote against divesting US federal government investments in corporations doing business with the genocidal government of the Sudan.
Oh, and he believes that the Left is waging a war on religion and Christmas, he’s against gay marriage, is against the popular vote, opposes the Civil Rights Act of 1964, wants the estate tax repealed, is STILL making racist remarks, believes that the Panama Canal should be the property of the United States, and believes in New World Order conspiracy theories, not to mention his belief that the International Baccalaureate program is UN mind control.
He is not "conservative"; he is "snooker-loopers crazy, racist, hateful, and stupid". Small-c conservative is Andrew Sullivan; capital-C crazy is Ron Paul.
LOL where did you get your information?? Beacuse you have no idea what you are talking about. LOL. By the way I have a video of Bush talking about New World Order and how it willl be better for the world. You are an idiot. lol
I get my information from the man himself, and his Congressional record. You'd find it too, without your blinders. As it is, I'm not going to make a massive page of links for you, because you're not going to read them and it would be a waste of my time. I don't give two craps in a hurricane what Bush said; do I seem like a fan of frigging BUSH?!? The only idiot here is in your mirror.
I'll be kind and give you a couple. It goes on and on. Wake the %$#^ up.
Wow some of you people on here have no idea how much Obama and Romney are the same. You don't think Ron has the support? Why not check out the rally all over the country and compare them to Romney's. If Romney is willing to cheat his way through the primary what makes you think he wont do the same in the general election?

So many just don't get it, but that's ok, it actually makes it a bit easier for us. Remember in the next decade: that our hand was forced, it was the Republicrats who unethically stacked the deck against third parties and independents, it was they who offered no choices and had no core, it was their hubris that was their downfall. This won't be over in Tampa, nor in November.
Ron only wishes to retire and know people are fighting to preserve liberty. The question isn't "What does Ron want?" the question is "What does the R3VOLUTION want?". The campaign is run from the bottom up, the national campaign staff influence is about 5%, Ron 15%, county level/grass roots 75%, and 5% misc.
The Best Ron Paul campaign ad evah!
