About a month ago, we talked about an Occupational Safety & Health Administration effort to prevent heat illnesses among outdoor workers, which led Fox News' Fox Nation website to run this headline: "Obama Regime: Working Outdoors Can Kill You."
My esteemed colleague Kent Jones used the opportunity to launch the TRMS Infoxication Writing Challenge, mocking Fox's ability to turn routine news into "anxiety-filled conspira-bombs pointed squarely at the heart of our socialist overlords."

With this in mind, Andrew Kaczynski noticed this jaw-dropper on Fox's site today.
The headline refers to an "editorial" from something called Investor's Business Daily, which argues that the president doesn't believe in judicial review, and thumbed his nose at the Constitution by approving a health care mandate (which was a Republican idea); including contraception as preventive care under federal law, using prosecutorial discretion to protect young immigrants from deportation, and making some recess appointments.
This, in Fox's mind, is bordering on "totalitarianism."
I'm awfully glad I don't write satire; far-right media is already a parody of itself.

It's obvious they don't know what the words "lawless" and "totalitarianism" mean; I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps they don't know what the other words in that headline mean either, like "close" and "presidency"...Could wingnut stupidity just be the result of illiteracy? Could we have an entire party of Nells on our hands?
LOL @ the Nell reference.
I think the tea party is. Being, most of them are back woods hermits with low education and no social awareness...
That's okay though, the morons that believe the FOX crap don't know the meanings of the words either. They're just know that they're something awful that a good president wouldn't do. You know, someone like W or Reagan.
As Inigo Montoya would say - "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
Definitely, they don't know what 'totalitarian' means. From their usage, they must think it means 'anything I really don't like'. Which is kind of amusing, since they demonstrate a practical definition by their refusal to compromise.
Actually, I am starting to get confused with all the "isms" and the "arians"
Eh, that's just standard exaggeration. It's not nearly as amusing as truly off-the-wall stuff like "working outdoors can kill you."
The trickle effect does work if you are speaking in terms of propaganda.
And yet another fine example of why voting Republican ( Radical Right-Wing ) is easier than thinking.
Sad thing is: wingnuts all over talk like this. They spew this stuff all the time.
If you want to really understand what we're up against, (re)read "1984." Fox and the reichwing media are the first attempt at the oligarchy's Ministry of Truth?
This country's in serious trouble.
Let's not forget that while Rupert Murdoch is the main owner of News Corp, Saudi prince Talal owns 7% of the stock. How ironic that all these backwoods yahoos use Muslim as a synonym of terrorist, and meanwhile their favorite channel is co-owned by a Muslim ruler.
Murdoch had to become a U. S. citizen in order to buy broadcasting companies in this country. Don't know if most of the people you are talking about know that he wasn't born in this country!!
Those broadcasting stations that Murdoch bought and form Fox Network were paid for with British sex scandal tabloids. When Republicans pose for votes as moral elitists those votes were bought with sex money.
Hey Faux since you're re-writing the dictionary - when you get to "P" under paranoia just put a picture of yourselves - that's sure to give implicit meaning to the low information sheeple you control.
So, all intelligence is housed at MSNBC? Their's is one view. There are other, opposing views. You do a disservice by stating people who watch Fox are ignorant, "stupid", "sheepie", etc. We may watch Fox, but we also go to different media, including MSNBC. We then draw our onw conclusions. And I, for one, do not endorse the govt centric view MSNBC spouts
no one watches both and considers them opposing viewpoints... facts don't have "viewpoints"
I dont know about all intelligence being housed at MSNBC, but there is NONE at Fox. If you can watch that crap without cringing then your brain is not involved in the viewing experience.
I watch FOX to see the parts of the video that MSNBC edits out!!!!!
Thank you all for your thoughtful, intelligent responses
@Tom-3671033
Dude, let me give you some helpful advice:
1) "Their's is one view"
When you comment on a web site like this one, try not to write like you're commenting at Fox Nation - People here WILL notice.
2) You were correct when you complained about Fox viewers being called "ignorant, stupid, sheepie."
After all, I comment there myself every day (well, at least for 15 minutes before they flag me).
3) Don't abbreviate "govt" because everyone here will know that you can't spell it.
4) And don't put your telephone number in your name - the chicks here aren't going to call you.
I cannot imagine a voter reaction to Fox that differs from the Tea Party. If the Tea Party diverges from Fox I'd like to know, since I have nothing to do with either the Tea Party or Fox.
I visit Faux News for the comedy value. Many of the commentators over there are quite funny (before you think about the fact that they're serious). Of course, it also helps to know what the wingnuts are going to be sharing as 'facts' so I can prepare for conversations with conservative friends.
FOX News makes you stupid.
Is that it, or are the viewers already stupid and therefore choose to watch Pox News?
Fox, network or crybabies, whiners and cowards.
Faux News is a group of wealthy conservative pundits dissing social services as draining the life-blood out of America, while whining that the super-rich need more tax breaks BEFORE they can afford to create another job. Pathetic . . .
What does the "group of wealthy conservative pundits really want? They do not want more money, they already have plenty of money and Republicans cause great economic loss.
We are seeing the rise of a secessionist movement. These rich guys want their own country. They are using the Republican Party and Fox and AEI and Heritage and Limbaugh and the rest to provoke civil war and secession. If anyone knows a better explanation for current events I'd like to know.
It was ok for the Bush administration to "memo" away environmental laws and workplace safety regulations, but it's totalitarianism when Obama does it for immigration. Ah, the irony. And the average American has been told by the GNoP that it was an executive order... misinformation is so very toxic to our thinking and to progress.
I believe this is further evidence of a war on satire. To eliminate the power of people like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, they intend to rob satire of its power by making exaggeration impossible.
How does one enforce "totalitarianism" while simultaneously being "lawless?" Wouldn't a lawless presidency be closer to anarchy?
Don't ask Fox Snooze or its braindead fans to think rationally. It's WAY beyond their abilities.
These are the same kind of people who think Nazism and Communism are the exact same thing, stop trying to use logic when discussing the bull-puckey they vomit into public discourse.
They also think he's a Godless atheist Muslim who's going to bring sharia law down upon us.
They claim fascism is "big government" when fascism is small government, just what they want.
How can it be "lawless" and "totalitarianism" at the same time? And isn't the argument over regulation? Is it "lawless over regulation"?
My head hurts.
It's incredible how that station can basically brainwash people into believing such lies they spread...I know bc I used to watch it and believe. Thank God for the Light!!!
Kim, what turned you around? If we could understand that, we might be able to save this country.
Sad that the average Fox viewer likely lacks the critical thinking skills to differentiate between nonsense and news.
Parody is becoming reality at Fixed Noise. It is getting harder and harder for sane people to characterize Fox News as anything but a full-blooded outreach effort of the Republican Party. They are running 24-7 programming devoted to Mitt Romney's election and the defeat of Barack Obama. And you're telling me that isn't a violation of campaign laws? Someone can and must shut down this network of lies, exaggerations, and racially offensive outbursts. Fixed Noise is having a more difficult time trying to disguise its blatant partisan intentions. http://www.sunstateactivist.org
So MSNBC is not fawning over Obama?
I see MSNBC criticize Obama many times. However, you would NEVER, EVER see Fox News criticize Bush (or Republicans). That's the difference.
No you are all missing the point of the GOP/Luntz/Rove strategy -- loosen the meaning of words so that when they get used correctly (accurately, mind you) GOP motives and goal they'll have no real meaning anymore...
Changing the meaning of words as a means of thought control was of interest to George Orwell and is seen in his works. It is nothing new.
Knowing what words mean is the first step to seeing through propaganda smokescreens.
The FCC should make Fox drop "News" from it's name for the purposes of television broadcasting on the grounds that it contains too much opinion and not enough news. If they want to fight it, then the number of times the phrase "far left" gets used can be compared to the number of times "far right" does .... I'm pretty sure in the latter case it's zero.
Remember, Fox "News" went to court in Florida and won the right to lie. It just seems now, they are really abusing the right.
All I know is, DH and I move back to Canada this summer where Fox News is not allowed to broadcast ... it's hard to imagine living in that world again.
"Conspira-bomb" Damn, that is a good word, I will work hard to include it in as many posts as I can from here on.
FWIW it is worth, we have another fun word for the Fox news organization, but it probably is not appropriate here, but it starts with an "f" and ends with a "tards." :)
They have a long history of contradictory accusations. Like he is Muslim Marxist. Marxist are by definition atheists. Or he is a secret Muslim and but he has declared war on religion.
I see no reason to assume anything sinister about Fox News (News Corp). This is all obviously, a problem with translating the news from Arabic as written by the Saudi Arabian partners that own Fox News into American English.
In important Presidential News: http://www.politicalshake.com/2012/06/15/leaked-document-reveals-that-the-president-of-the-united-states-holds-executive-power/
I am still hoping to find a Michigan republican and say vagina to him. They are soooo stupid.
For people who don't like to hear vaginas mentioned, Michigan Rethugs sure are obsessed with regulating them.
It's the same attitude they have with gay people. They hate the mere thought of us but they just can't stop banging on about our bedroom activities.
I only see clips from Fox anti-News when Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert rerun them and mock them.
It shows how desperate they're getting to paint him as a bad person. They can't figure out that smart people see through that sh1t.
There are more dumb people than smart ones. The propaganda masters know that, and use it.
Though I agree that fox news is a propaganda machine stuck in overdrive, I would actually have to say that a President who disregards the rule of law, as outlined by the Constitution, would border on totalitarianism. Or, perhaps Authoritarianism. Dictatorship? All of the above seem to fit the bill, when the President wields unchecked power and essentially does whatever he wants.
Correct. Seems I have wandered into a den of buffoons who are obviously clueless as you have. It seems the far Left is only capable of repeating laughably un-vetted rhetoric like Maddow's. She seems more intelligent then this so she is clearly nothing more then the usual propagandist paid pundit. ...[yawn]. No wonder we are in such deep sh*t.
Too understand the clownish statements mad by Rachel it is best to go to the 49:14 mark of this. Bolshivek's power grabs just don't come as easy as they used to. <cliphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42pSCWSRRyQ&feature=related>
