Super-hot weather tends to make people cranky and argumentative and pessimistic (but enough about me.)
Clearly the timing is perfect for this adult-sized portion of unapologetic uplift.
I feel cooler already.

That was very uplifting, thanks so much Kent.
Those pictures are reassuring. I'm familiar with the "I'm Sorry", and the Blue Like Jazz roots. I have been pleased to see it making the rounds.
But, regarding the second picture on the Pride participants' reaction: Why is that guy wearing nothing but his underwear??
Come on. I'm serious here. I need to know if he was (A) making a statement, or if it was just (B) individual choice. I'm finding my lack of cultural awareness inhibiting.
2. I think because he couldn't go naked and 2.1 C. both.
I think he felt liberated (statement) and chose to go in underwear (statement) among his peers.
It oogs me out a little at times, but I get over it. Just my opinion from my viewpoint.
The Pride used to be called Gay Liberation, and let me tell you; it can be very liberating for someone that had to hide can feel so empowered and free to be surrounded by so many supporters and "family".
Thank you Sandy.
After the "It Gets Better" project came out, my daughter and I had a sensitive but revelating open discussion. A few days later, her small private Christian college had a late night campus discussion on the issue. A couple weeks later, they took "I'm Sorry" posters to downtown Seattle.
This month, when this picture came out, we weren't sure what the gentleman was trying to communicate, if anything. And it was important to us. Our best conclusion was that it was some expression of having the courage to face a public vulnerability.
I like "liberating" better.
Sure. Just my interpretation.
It also occured to me that he might be revealing himself in public, so the statement might be "here I am"… in my underwear for all to see, I'm not hiding anything.
