Amazing news to discuss tonight! And...will Rachel be back to lead the discussion?? Inquiring minds want to know! Drat that ringing phone, Bill!
Please discuss whether the Supreme Court decsions of today provide any clues about how the justices will rule Thursday on "Obamacare".
Yes, please! Discuss whether the Supreme Court decisions of today will provide clues about the Affordable Healthcare program!
Does that mean Miss Rachel "You-Don't-Know-Anything-About-Me" Maddow will make some snide, incendiary remarks about Nick Gillespie after her bull@!$%# responses to him on Real Time with Bill Maher.
Rachel, you are partisan, you're a liberal statist @!$%#, and a nasty piece of spoon-fed Democratic @!$%#. Get a real job.
I will lobby for MSNBC to take you off the air after the @!$%#ing bull@!$%# you pulled on Nick Gillespie, @!$%#.
Love you, Rachel!!! Keep up the GREAT work. I've got more and more friends tuning in to your amazing show everyday. :)
I guess Nick Gillespie was a victim that needs your defense? He told her what her thoughts on Romney care were. Did you get that part?
Whatever dude, I thought Libertarians were rugged individualists and could stand on their own. I don't even know who he is or want to read his book. I don't need to, he displayed his values well enough. I thought he was a pompous @ss, but hey, he's got a right to be one. If he told me what I thought without knowing me, I would tell him to STFU.
I would guess Maddow probably forgot about him already.
As an unofficial, self-appointed sociologist, I find internet blog/article comment sections fascinating from an observational data collection standpoint. I consider this all fodder for a great piece of satire with a hint of truth to it that is yet to be written. Some day. They are also a sad representation of where our society is headed--Idiocracy will reign supreme. Life imitating art or art imitating life? Doesn't matter. Art will prove prophetic here. And from that, will emerge poetic.
That said, Todd Andrew Barnett, please let us know how that lobbying stuff works out for you. We will wait with baited breath.
Have a great day, everybody.

With Citizens United, it can be much worse than that, because it would be with the extreme rich to really limit your voting rights. Where it will be only if you are extremely wealthy than only these people are allowed to vote. After all why would these people want to keep pouring money into these elections, when all they would have to do is finally change the law to cancel out everybody else.
Money = 1st Amendment's Freedom of Speech
Too bad corporations don't have to prove their citizenship. What if they were born as "internationals", or have multiple citizenships? Does their freedom of speech have to be in dollars? Or is corporate freedom of speech allowed to be exercised through yuans, rubles, euros, dinars, etc.?
And I don't buy that restriction on "foreign nationalists". America appreciates foreign investors, but not the Unwanted Company: Foreign Investment in American Industries, especially in the context of Citizens United.
The worst thing, is that the above, by far, is not the worst thing about Citizens United.
@ Todd Andrew Barnett: Ha, and you still watch her show. She must be doing something right. It's hostile, ill-conceived, and ill-informed (uninformed/lazy?) opinions like yours that are what's wrong with this country. As long as the Republican party continues to indulge in catering to your points of view and putting above good of the rest of the 310 million of us, there is no hope of ever fixing this deadlock and bringing this country into the 21st century economically, socially, and fairly. By the way, google a link to proper internet etiquette, which you seem to lack, entitled: "Care to Comment? Considering Internet Discussion Protocol".
Hopefully Doctor Maddow will repeat what she stated on the Bill Mahrer program last week, which was "Dude, I'm not even a Democrat." There you have it, Doctor Maddow is not a Democrat. She said what I've been saying since 2010, she is not a Democrat. Previously she said she's a Progressive, but Progressives are Democrats, so she isn't a Progressive either. She's ?
A + B must equal C, really? So, there's no such thing as a progressive Republican?
If someone bought all the airtime allowed for political advertisement as a way of denying their foes any airtime at all, would that be a legal denial of free speech? Can one person's free speech deny the free speech of others?
The corporatism of the United States will continue until the voter stands up and says 'no'. Before we have any hope of changing this development of our electoral process we need the votes in all of our legislatures to work for all of the working class, and 'THAT ain't gonna happen'. Folks in the media will have much to air their respective programs with, that is, until the corporatist' clamp down on them too.
I never know who the media is? How come we cant be specific. The word media is so encompassing.
Here, JamesRM, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_media (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_media) a real quick link to answer your question.
I never know who the media is? How come we cant be specific. The word media is so encompassing.
I am shocked at the angry response from Judge Alito over President Obama's executive order regarding deporting children. The justice should know his job is to adjudicate cases brought before the court. He is totally out of line making politically charged comments against the President. If he doesn't understand the basics of his job he needs to resign immediately and be replaced by someone who understands "judicial restraint."
Citizen's United was given new life today by the Montana overturn. Any chance of demolishing it as a democracy SHOULD explode it is extinct UNLESS and until the Supreme Court dastardly divisive and sickening five are an extinct species and that will not happen UNLESS and until god willing Obama is re-elected and a Democrat can replace Anthony Scalia, most especially Clarence Thomas, Alito, Roberts or Anthony Kennedy. It WILL be difficult as many are older but none is really on the edge except for the sometimes bearable Kennedy. Still if Kennedy were to retire, Ginsberg from the sane progressive intellectually adept camp were to retire then the party of decency the Democratic Party COULD finally have that sure one vote and Citizen's Disunited could be history and like Dred Scott it would.
Until then IF the republic can survive since the middle class is nearly an extinct species we will have to endure IF that is possible. Our country in part from rancid decisions like Citizen's United is teetering on an abyss. It cannot survive by 1% having the largest percentage of the wealth. Money and the corruption it buys at the expense of the rest of us WILL sink our nation. It is the first and foremost thing that threatens the republic even more than a bad decision i.e. an overturning of healthcare soon to possibly come.
It is impossible to predict by today's decisions where the court will fall on health care. To me it does not look promising but then again what do I know? The decision today with respect to immigration was decent but of course not enough. Still the Obama administration got 85% of what it wanted. I was heartened by it but clearly this has no bearing on the survival of a health care bill that WOULD if allowed to stand help MILLIONS. If it does not stand MILLIONS will die ultimately a very slow death especially if the economic sewer brought on by Wall Street utter corruption, fraud and bid rigging gets even worse. We WILL be in a Depression and those who do not have a job WILL not have health care. It will be the TRUE death panel.
If I can fault the president on one thing it would be that he did not instruct fiercely enough what his health care bill (a mandate Republicans suggested) was all about. They did not know and with the bail outs people were fed up and objected to that which would help them. They are stepping of course on their own toes. It's up to basically Anthony Kennedy to save MILLIONS of lives. Does he do the right thing or does he worry about not being invited to his Republican friends' birthday parties?
We will know the stuff that heroes are made of on, as it is said, Thursday. Until then even if we are not praying people do so for your fellow Americans who are sad, poor, jobless and out of luck through NO fault of their own!
With the Citizens United allowing corporate $ funding the Rep there goals will not only be to get their candidate elected President they are and will continue to make sure that all other positions are filled by Rep.
I believe we are on the edge and if we the Democrat's, the Independents and even the Republicans/Tea Party who realize that they too will be RULED if we let the Rep win these elections; it’s not too late; we need to take this seriously or WE the largest Democracy in the world will be RULED by the 1%, the Plutocracy. In fact, we’re all ready headed in that direction. What with the GOP Congress has been and are in CONTROL of our Democracy. They DO NOT care about anyone but the few; the 1%.
The only way we can reverse this from going all the way is for WE/ALL of US THE 99%, We THE PEOPLE of the of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA need to come together. We need to stand up to these Plutocrats the 1%. We need to let them know that are THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and we are going to fight them and WE WILL WIN!
Why do you suppose the real reason is that they want to be rid of the Unions; not only the public workers but all of the different trade unions. Without any Unions the Democrats will not have them to donate to their/our elections.
Major corporate media is most influenced by major corporate American and international companies and Wall Street. Major corporate media are the major offenders of the sacred trust of journalism. That means the major network news programs are 1st on the list of those failing to do their jobs as journalists. Americans are uninformed and misinformed because major corporate news programs are failing...because they are compromised by corporate America. Corporate America is squeezing the life and the truth out of corporate news programming. "Meet The Press" is probably the most egregious example of a failed and dying and formerly well regarded news program.
Could Rachel and/or Lawrence maybe set Ed Schultz straight? He is saying that the "papers please" part of the Arizona law was left in place by SCOTUS, while Rachel and Lawrence said it was struck down. Apparently the confusion in the media over this ruling exists even within the confines of MSNBC.
Rachel, I'd like to propose an issue I'd like to see you raise in regard to the 2012 presidential election. Mitt Romney says he's the better choice for America because of his business experience at Bain Capital. I would like to counter that by saying Romney's experience at Bain is the reason he's the worst choice to lead America. Yes, he made tons of money for himself and his investors at Bain, I concede that fact. However, just who are his investors this time around, well they sure as hell are not the voting public. Most voters are trying to hang on to the little money they have to dump it into a campaign. His investors are the billionaires and millionaires giving him money and expecting a return on their investment. Translation, if he wins they win and just like at Bain, he will care very little for the rest of us, as he did the employees who lost their jobs.

Dear Mr. Romney, June 26, 2012 8:47 a.m.
Can you please bathe?
Sincerely,
Big George.
P.S. The next time your bus pass by a store that sell soap. Stop and buy some. Oh yeah, get me a king sized butterfinger and some hot fries.
