Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* A new Quinnipiac poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney in three key swing states. Obama's up by four points in Florida (45% to 41%), six points in Pennsylvania (45% to 39%), and nine points in Ohio (47% to 38%). Note: the poll was of registered voters, not likely voters.
* Speaking of 2012 battlegrounds, a new poll by Old Dominion University and the Virginian-Pilot shows Obama leading Romney in Virginia by seven points, 49% to 42%.
* A week after Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) falsely claimed to have been in "secret" meetings with "kings and queens," the Massachusetts Democratic Party isn't done mocking him.
* Speaking of the Senate race in Massachusetts, a new poll from Public Policy Polling shows Scott and Elizabeth Warren tied at 46% each.
* Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) became the latest congressional Democrat to skip the party's national convention. Her campaign said McCaskill skips the convention every time she's on the ballot -- she didn't go in 2004, during her gubernatorial campaign, either.
* Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, doesn't have a problem at all with vulnerable Dems skipping the convention.
* Though incumbents generally fared quite well in yesterday's primaries, Rep. John Sullivan (R) of Oklahoma wasn't as fortunate -- he lost in a GOP primary, becoming the eighth House incumbent to lose a primary this cycle.
* And in the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, Democrats have the narrowest of leads over Republicans on the generic congressional ballot, 45% to 44%.

The Christian case against Memory Isn't There Today (MITT) would be easier if Jesus Christ had sat down for dinner with the tax collectors and then overturned the tables of the private industry money changers.
What were the Democrats doing, deciding to hold their convention in a state that is generally opposed to everything Democrats are for? Oh, right, that genius Axelrod wanted to show they weren't "ignoring" the South.
You could be the next Deep Throat. You must have tremendous access to know this information.
It doesn't matter where the convention is held. Remember, the GOP held theirs in NYC in 2004.
Tactics to deceive
June 27, 2012
I just received a survey call from the NRA. The number came on my caller id as ‘Private’. However, when I called back it was answered by a recording stating that the NRA is sorry to have missed my call. The number is 855-801-3254.
When they called, I was told they were taking a survey and wanted me to answer a question that is paramount to the Second amendment of the United States constitution.
The question that I was asked: Do you believe that the UN should be able to force gun control rules on Americans in th United States?
1 for yes or 2 for no.
I pressed Zero and was connected to a young girl.
I asked why the NRA would be asking such a question in a poll, since that has never happened and there are no plans for that to happen.
She responded, “ Do you think that President Obama and Hillery Clinton should be agreeing to let the ‘UN’ control our gun laws?”
I responded, “that is not at issue; there is nothing and has been nothing associated with the UN that would interfere with our second amendment rights.”
I continued to tell her that the people are being deceived by this type of survey and the NRA should have no part of such a process. They are simply trying to put the message in the minds of the uninformed that their second amendment rights are being taken
away by President Obama. This is pure deceit. No truth at all in this message.
She said, I’m sorry you feel that way and ended the call.
Typical liar tactics; change the question to elicit the answers you want.
I'll have a longer piece about him in my "Candidates you don't know, but should" series later, but wanted to call your attention to Spencer Morgan, who is running in AZ-5. He's probably the youngest candidate of either party, just over the age elibility line -- and the only candidate that includes his time as Student Body President as part of his experience. He's running in a probably hopeless race -- though it is an open seat because Trent Granks resigned to run for Congress -- but he understands that even if you don't get more than 30%, 10% will be people who ordinarily didn't bother to show up at the polls and will help other candidates -- and serve as a 'networking nexus' for Progressives who might never have met otherwise. He knows the advantage of at least fighting back against -- and providing a different picture than -- Republican talking points. (And he knows that the strangest upsets can happen in politics, and just maybe something will change the race into a possibly competitive one.)
Blog for Arizona has a nice piece on him today, worth reading, maybe even worth dropping a bit of 'green support' his way.
Hilarious ad, you can't go wrong playing killer queen and simultaneously showing Mr. Brown with a Burger King crown on. Patently funny and I'm surprised Elizabeth Warren isn't doing better in polling!
I think Senator Brown has been watching too much "Game of Thrones." I think he is secretly plotting to take over the "Iron Throne" and re-unite the "Seven Kingdoms." Hopefully Elizabeth Warren can exile him to the Summer Islands. Maybe he can check on MITT's back accounts there, while he's at it.
I understand why conservative Dems do not want to attend the Dem convention. But Obama and the Dems need to sell voters on the concept that the Dem party does not represent only one view on issues. The Dems should be pointing out to voters that the party has a diversity of opinions on most issues. Republicans are trying to define all Dems based on Obama or positions on specific issues and Republicans have been very successful with negative ads. That is why Dems need to change voters perceptions about Dems.
Lataurette is on CSPAN now proposing to knock down homes ,in Detroit ,so that the arsenists will stop burning down these beautiful old homes. He is proposing knocking down all these homes and building ready-to-order homes in which his rich buddies will build for a fee, I would rather live in a beautiful, old house that has a lot of sentimental feelings and character than any new cookie cutter home, that depend on people to pay monthly for. I wonder if he has any friends in the construction business. These homes are already payed for, why not clean them up , which is cheaper and will save the taxpayer's money. Oh, I forgot they aren't interested in taxpayers. They are more interested in getting a cut from the construction business. The American people do not have a shortage of homes, we have a shortage of money in order to pay our bills and in order to eat. They know where their next meal is coming from, some do not. So, why would they waste our money building more houses that are unneccesarry.
There are 22 empty homes for every homeless American. Does that sound like we need more McMansions thrown up for private profit?
Scott Brown has had secret meetings with royalty. He just forgot to mention that they are the "future" kings and queens that will be running the USA when and if the Republicans manage to win/steal enough elections to finally take over the country.
