Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Soon after learning that Mitt Romney raised a whopping $100 million in June, Karl Rove's attack group, Crossroads GPS, announced its launching another $25 million in attack ads targeting President Obama. It's unclear if, or how, Democrats will keep up financially.
* The Romney campaign, responding to complaints from within the Republican Party, has agreed to "fortify his communications and messaging team by adding seasoned operatives."
* In the race to replace Sen. Joe Lieberman (I) in Connecticut, Rep. Chris Murphy (D) is launching his first television ad, narrated by his wife, Cathy Murphy. The Democrat will probably face former wrestling company executive Linda McMahon.
* Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s (D-Ill.) office acknowledged yesterday that the lawmaker's health problems are "more serious" than initially believed. It remains unclear whether he intends to run for re-election.
* California will not be competitive in 2012 -- a new Field Poll shows President Obama leading Romney by 18 points, 55% to 37%.
* A new far-right attack group, called American Commitment, is launching attack ads targeting Sen. Bill Nelson (D) in Florida, and Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D), who's running for the Senate in Wisconsin.
* The most recent PPP survey in Minnesota shows Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) with commanding leads over her potential GOP challengers in her re-election bid. Obama also looks strong in Minnesota against Romney.

Sometimes it seems to me that the right-wing Super PACs are spending money as judiciously as the Bush administration did in Iraq.
If that's a correct assessment, then the good news is that the spending is nowhere near as effective as it could be.
The bad news is that a lot of people whose main skill is getting money out of angry conservatives are getting rich.
I've said it many times: Democrats should have been inoculating themselves all along against the manufactured nonsense that will be toxically carpet-bombed across the public airwaves in the Fall. They haven't. And they aren't going to know what hit them. This is going to be brutal, ugly, and nauseating, and there's nothing that will stop it.
The rich certainly have no problem making unlimited contributions to supporting their class against the rest. Too bad they're such greedy scum that they can't look beyond the end of their nose (but given they run companies that can't plan beyond the end-of-quarter report, perhaps their short-term-only perspective is to be expected). If they donated the money they're donating to Romney, Rove, the Cock Brothers, and all the other fascist disinformation operations as their fair share of taxes to the country they allegedly love so much, we could be making significant moves on many of the problems facing the country, the solutions of which would do a lot to make the rich even richer in the long term. But long-term non-greed thinking is foreign to America's imperial ruling class, who have long since passed the "let them eat cake!" stage.
Word.
Unfortunately, some Democrats would rather distance themselves from the President, especially when threatened by the NRA.
Loyalty is a funny thing, not many folks are willing to remain loyal if they feel their own job is in jeopardy.
That's why they are not standing up, and debunking the lies from the other side.
A million dollar ad for a used Yugo might get a bite or two from nutcases but it won't sell the car if the price is too high.
I am glad that the first real test of citizens united will be trying to sell voters a corporate puppet and a right wing agenda of anti-women, anti-government bull. Either way it will prove how idiotic the courts decision was.
I've been seeing the video of Romney on the jet ski, am I the only person wondering why he's in the "bitch" seat? Why does he have to have his wife drive him.
