Tonight's guests include:
Harvey Weinstein, movie producer, co-founder of Miramax, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company and Obama fundraiser
Christina Romer, professor of economics at University of California-Berkley and former chair of the Obama Council of Economic Advisors
And here's senior producer Cory Gnazzo with a look at tonight's show, with some help from our dry erase board:

yay --- higgs and maddow on the same tv
I just saw Harvey Weinstein speak with you and I saw the clip he showed, I have been waiting for my local indie theater to bring this jewel to my area. I saw the trailer on Mother's Day and I have been waiting every since. HW's praise is just cherry on the pie that is "The Intouchables" it opens near me on July 13 and I am waiting with baited breath. You have to know that I don't like going to movies, the usual Hollywood thing bores me to death! This movie made me sit up and take notice. I hope that you are planning on seeing it as well Rachel!
Oh and BTW the whole Romney/Obama thing is what movies are made of too! Imagine the opening line "Never since the House of Pancakes has there been such a mind numbing amount of flip flopping" President Obama is my guy : )
Christina Romer, my hero!! She was on the team Obama SHOULD have chosen - instead of the Geitner team!! We'd be a LOT better off economically right now!!
Your opening said that a Koch brother donated tanks for a parade. Is it legal for someone to own an operating tank? Does anyone want to investigate why a person has his own heavy artillery?
Great question! Actually, it's frightening question, when you consider the possible answers.
I listened to Christina Romer say that maybe we can improve our trade situation by increasing foreign export. I think we should first put a stop to exporting American jobs.
So, Germany apparently has a more modern power delivery grid system than my amazing USA ? Is it possible that sometimes our constantly seeking of the cheapest price ( we Americans are proud of this skill ) could end up sometimes being a race to the bottom ? No way !!. . . Ok, wait a minute. . .
Would burying the our power supply conductors also give us some protection from Electro-Magnetic-Field storm flashes from the Sun ? Would need to be water tight. Honey , call that guy that sells that rubber-in-a-can, but I am not paying shipping charges !!
But there are so many people who'll turn on you if you so much as suggest that we're not the greatest country in the world at all things, and they've elected many of their own kind to public office. Spending money on infrastructure is wasteful, but spending it on giveaways to the top 1% seems to reaffirm our greatness, as does spending money on mission-creep wars. Democracy's answer is to vote them out of office, but there arena awful lot of them.
I'm one of the million people in DC that had no power for (us) 3.5 days, and I appreciate your piece on the infrastructure needs.
This video by the National Academy of Sciences about Climate Change, Lines of Evidence was released earlier this week, and might prove useful to showing people that that science behind climate change is real.

Full disclosure, the producer,Nancy Huddleston, Director of Communications for the Division of Earth and Life Sciences at the National Academy of Sciences is my wife.
On a personal note, I'm a fan of you and of the Berkshire's and vacation at the cottage my uncle's grandfather built in the 1930's in East Otis, Mass, (on Big Pond). Hope you have a great summer. Bill Huddleston, Fairfax, Virginia
I'm so happy that Rachel isn't shy about pointing out weird coincidences, such as with Weinstein tonight. We're all connected, and it should freak us out.
Repubs win, lobbyists out of work. Don't the lobbyists realize that they are no longer needed if their former employers are now elected officials. Why would they hire anyone to lobby themselves? Think of all the lobby money saved!!
The Interview with Weinstein was interesting, but he compared buying a car, to a car buying a vote. It's not quite the same thing.
It shouldn't be the same thing, Mike, but there's too close of an association between electoral victory and vastly outspending one's opponent. I agree with what Weinstein said, but how he said it, the complacent confidence, can get Mitt elected if it becomes widespread.
I was so delighted to see your segment on burying power lines. This has been an issue of mine for a long time. I keep seeing these totally avoidable outages that cause people to suffer and even die. It's a national shame. I have contacted elected officials a number of times without any results, but your show inspired me to try again. I have started a WhiteHouse.Gov petition on this topic - http://wh.gov/OBo9 - Please help me get signatures! thanks, Bill
Are you suggesting tax money should be used on private power companies burying their lines and upgrading? You are fine with oil subsidies also I take it.
