I blog on a MA site probably read by 30 countries. The political discussions seem 90% right wing rehtoric. It wears me out you cannot discuss or reason with people who have no ears or eyes?
Here is a good example of one of the most prolific bloggers daily has to be paid? I give up hope November solves this???
The obama administration
allowed murderous, Mexican drug cartels to buy American guns, forcing the gun
dealers to sell the guns to the mexican drug dealers, and let them cross the
border into Mexico where they were used to kill upwards of 300 innocent Mexican
men and women, and a U.S. Border Patrol agent. When asked to provide documents
that would explain why the Attorney General lied to the committee investigating
these murders and the justice department policies that allowed them to happen,
the President used the power of executive privilege to protect the Attorney
General from submitting those documents to congress, the branch of government
that has oversight of the justice department. Sooo... Romney has complied with
all legal requirements that deal with his personal finances, while obama is
using his power as President to cover up the deaths of innocent foreign
nationals and a federal agent....hmmmm....which is actually more serious, which
is more "moral?" Does the President and his minions really want this
particular debate on openness?
An old saying, "There are none so blind as them who will not see."
Is there something factually wrong with this example you provide? Not that I can tell. Perhaps you folks should consider that all the money and the blog pushback is because the lefty point of view is nice, but not functional.
The whole gun-walker thing made no sense, just like spending billions to stimulate business, while simultaneously making business more difficult makes no sense. This is like 2010, time to return to reality.
Problem: there WAS NOT GUN WALKING PROGRAM.
To Jjm's point only...while there may be a difference of opinion of what constitutes a "program" there is generally agreement that guns did "walk" and that individuals (or agencies) did make the decision to let them "walk." Agreed?
From what I know, these guns were being purchased legally by american citizens and then these same guns were sold to others who could not by them legally. Eventually these same guns were found to be in the hands of Mexican gang members.
I think the ATF found that their hands were tied because the guns were being purchased legally. I do not know what the Arizona law is for selling guns that you do not want anymore.
From what I know, ATF agents were going to prosecutors trying to stop some of this gun exchange but the prosecutors were demanding more evidence.
After awhile some of this became public and is being twisted for political propaganda.
"After awhile some of this became public and is being twisted for political propaganda."
Including on this very site by some of the usual suspects.
And darned if the disgraced AZ US attorney Dennis Burke wasn't an Obama supporter and "architect of the 1994 assault weapons ban". How interesting. Considering that he refused to act on dealer concerns, and there are no plausible explanations for the program, perhaps the conspiracy theories aren't so far fetched.

After all, I can't come up with a good explanation of why the gun walking happened? There was no tracking. There was no way to know where those guns went until they were abandoned after being used to kill.
If anyone has a better theory why the law got bent to arm nefarious characters, I'm all ears.
Where is the link for the segment on China - and Pres. Obama's complaints against it?
A man is known by his deeds not by how much money his corporate sponsors dump into his campaign.
We survived the Bush era and even though he bruised democracy I feel sure that people are awakening to the fact that the republican party is on a mission to undo what the founders created.
If Mitt buys the election we do not deserve freedom.
Oh please. Since Bush, Democrats have managed to pass huge programs unread, overturn Habeas Corpus, impoverish the country, expand the wars, and make Congress the master of every aspect of our lives.
The founders wanted freedom from Govt not it's expansion.
And...the founders advocated compromise in government, not obstruction. Isn't obstruction just about the only tool the right has brought to Washington these past four years? How has obstruction been more effective in the recovery of this nation than expansion? Short answer, it hasn't. Yet, the right continues to obstruct.
I get why Republicans work AGAINST Obama, but what have the Republicans done FOR America this past year?
What have the Republicans done for America the past 4 years?
What has the Tea Party done for America since 2010?
What have the Republicans done to better America during the 8 years before Obama?
If you have a problem with obstruction, blame the Democrats for not repealing the filibuster. As for the House, that was a ringing endorsement from the entire country to obstruct.
The best thing you can do for Americans is to do nothing. Americans are quite capable of getting ourselves of this morass without "help" from inside the beltway.
No, it was a mistaken belief that they were going to do what they said they were: work on jobs. What have they done? Everything BUT that. I know you're allergic to reality, Shooter, but take your pills and at least try.
Romney is right that kick in the gut people have been getting from Romney and others like him for years has got to go and stop. It sure is something how Romney will try to twist facts, when people like him have been causing too many problems for years. They want to act like Romney is something good and really he is not. People get raised in far worse conditions than Romney has. And these people have turned out far better than Romney in realizing not to accept those bad things that happen in life and strife for better things for all people. Romney had his silver spoon in his mouth, but has done some pretty bad things. The excuse to use his rich childhood life as an excuse the way he is, is not an excuse. I don’t buy it, no matter how a person is raised it still gets down to what type of character a person is, regardless of how a person was raised. Romney was raised in a nice cushie life and got anything he wanted, but still that makes no difference to how a person will behave. Romney is still what he is and that is only for himself without the care and concern of others. And you can never hide that fact that Romney is worthless when it comes to caring about others and community. Romney is not capable of doing what would be good and right for all people, unless someone was trying to hold puppet strings telling Romney what to do. It shows outright Romney’s psychological profile and Romney is an emotionless droid and has no emotions or feelings about others, except to what he can gain for himself.
Romney talk's about bringing manufacturing companies back to the US.I would ask WHY, so his old buddies at Bain Capital can "invest"in them, fire everyone ,suck'em dry, pawn the employees pension's off on taxpayer's and make a fortune?
I see, so you'd rather leave those companies offshore and hire no one in the US? That doesn't seem very smart.
PS. without profit there are no jobs and no tax revenue. Can I presume you're in favor of jobs and tax revenue? Of so, you'd better be in favor of profit.
The conservatives get all this financial help to win, but the silence on what they are buying is deafening.
The whole lack of workable solutions to our most dire issues is why I will NOT be voting for any Republican. When they start working instead of just blaming and criticizing, I'll consider listening. Meanwhile, I will continue to support the man that is working for America, our president.
Obama is nothing more than a deflection of responsibility for Republicans. They set up a straw man, plastered Obama's face on it, and they use him. They use him as "the enemy", use him to keep their base inflamed because the usual election year buttons of abortion and gay marriage has worn thin. They use him as bait and switch to cover their own inept unproductive self-centered lives.
Obama has worked to recover our economy. The right offer nothing except criticism and pie-in-the-sky dreams about when THEY get elected. Well, we just went through the TeaParty Revolution and what have they accomplished. And a mere 4 years ago, we had 8 lovely years of those pie-in-the-sky Republican dreams and it almost destroyed this nation. That is the evidence. That is why Obama has been made the enemy, because he's made efforts to fix our country's problems and that makes the right look bad. So they rally their Fox-stupefied base and together the conservative lemmings will vote this nation off their personal cliff.
Did you catch Harvey Weinstein on Maddow last night? His take on the overwhelming $$ on behalf of Romney: "No amount of spending will sell a bad product" -- he called Romney an Edsel...
Weinstein, a fundraiser for the President, in essence said money would not be an issue in this race, should not be an issue in this race, and the amount spent will have no impact on this race. He said it didn't matter if a billion dollars was spent on Romney's election efforts, he will not be elected because he is a "bad product."
On the jobs front and its supposed deleterious effect for Obama. Wonkblog had a story yesterday on those who are 'gloomy' about the economy.
The only really gloomy people: those who are well off.
So Romney is speaking to THOSE people, the wealthy, when he harps on the economy. According to a recent poll most Americans don't think either candidate would alter the basic economy if elected, and so are decided on other issues.
The part that said that the Obama administration "forced" gun dealers to sell guns to Mexican drug dealers seems to be untrue. How does the administration "force" them to do this? Also, this gun-walking thing seems to have involved gun dealers legally selling guns to to people who are legally entitled to buy them. I do wish that better tabs had been kept on all those legally sold guns but the idea that this program was designed to sway public opinion towards more gun control is ridiculous.
There are documented concerns by gun store owners that some buyers were suspect and were under investigation by the government. The owners sought reassurance from the DOJ that they (the owners) were NOT viewed as selling guns to "bad guys." Here's some of the correspondence: source.
I was not happy with Harvey Weinstein's reason that big donors to the Democratic campaign in 2008 were not giving as much now. We all know we have a better "product" in President Obama, but the effects of negative ads will be of huge import. We need the money to counter those adds. What are those moguls in Hollywood thinking?
Susan,
I agree. I was just watching that segment. This was such a flimsy argument! When Obama is so outspent, it will be too late if later wealthy Dems decide to jump in--it is already later. If you are watching a tidal wave of cash rolling over you, you don't wait. I fear they have bailed on him, and on us. God help us if the ultra Conservatives get the white house and congress. I give what I can every month, little that it is, and plan on volunteering.
I wonder what your thoughts were back in 2008 when Obama shattered all spending records to get elected -$ 750 Million (3/4 BILLION) and that was his campaigne alone. No need for any Super PAC. I imagine it is not such a big deal if your candidate is the one spending the $$.
HOLY COW! I guess this is how the right wing blogosphere treats people they disagree with. The title reads;

and the comments are even worse. Anyone can post on this site though.

I guess all these anti-government folks realize that without a strong federal government to back it the dollar would not be worth a dime. Perhaps they think that in god we trust will be enough to support it?
