The Enbridge fiasco underlines exactly why anyone who is for the Keystone pipeline has absolutely zero sense and can safely shut the hell up without fearing they're hiding some great wisdom.
You give Mr. Bennet tooooooo MUCH credit. It was I and my investigations of the D. A. that shot his prospect down. Do YOUR research my good friend Miss. Maddow. I also won a bet against a turd blossom so as to make that turd blossom keep his money out of the Co.
Yet the lowlife he is he could not even honor his own word. ; ]
Cheers
That was obviously sarcastic my friend, I know that you do YOUR research well and thank you that TODAY "of all days" you chose to put in your news, thee afore mentioned.. ; ]
Thinking of you for thinking of me ; ]]
Cheers
So, Grumpy, your answer to the Enbridge spill is to stop using pipelines? I guess that means you are in favor of what exactly? It seems you would like the entire American economy to grind to a halt to make sure another accident never happens.
Have you seen any of the sci-fi shows where the citizens are reduced to hunter-gatherer status? Is that what you have in mind for the country?
Shooter, are you actually saying that if we do not promote and insist on more petroleum use, society will collapse? Seriously?
No, the only way to avoid accidents is to shut down all the pipelines. There will always be accidents, humans are fallible. So anyone saying pipelines shouldn't be built because they are afraid of what might happen, can only be satisfied if all pipelines are closed.
That is absurd of course, and so is Grumpy.
We have had pipelines for decades and have dealt with spills - on land and in water - for just as long. We have ways of cleaning up oil spills.
The tar sand oil is different and much harder to clean out of water. (I wonder how hard it is to clean up on land...). This spill took 2 years and gazillions of dollars to clean up. So we need to think hard about what can done to minimize the damage - particularly to water.
The high temperatures and drought conditions this summer really show how precious fresh water is. The day might be coming soon where we are dependent on irrigation using ground water to grow crops. Fresh water is our most valuable resource. PROTECT IT.
State by state the GOP will undo all EPA requirements anyway. They will do so as they undo all civil rights gains and all abortion rights. State's Rights! Kill the fed!!
By the time people awaken to the true agenda their rights will be gone and we will be enslaved with no voting rights to get rid of these zealots.
The pipelines can be done safely... oh, but that would hurt Shooter's buddies, the oil companies, and their precious bottom lines, wouldn't it? Better to just let them burst, take 2 FRIGGING YEARS to clean it up (because while it seems even a slaphead like Shooter can figure out that they're going to break, they cannot and did not have a plan in place for containment and cleanup), and too bad for anybody else. Profits uber alles, and f**k everybody else.
Why am I not surprised to hear this kind of bullsh!t from you, Shooter? Because I know what kind of an idiot you are. You just made the case for why these @!$%#s should not be allowed to run pipelines - because they lack the mental capacity to plan ahead.
I know that it's a tough subject to grasp, but work with me, Shooter. Fresh water, that is accessible and usable by humans, makes up a tiny amount of the water on Earth. We have a limited supply of potable water, which is why we get to pay for it. Oil spills into rivers and aquifers reduces that supply further. THIS is why taking an idiot attitude like yours proves you would be a failure in any kind of office of responsibility.
Something to have with you coffee........... maybe something stronger would go better??
You guys at MSNBC better start digging into Professor Jakoff's new title, "The Little Blue Book" before it's too late! At least read it before all we conservatives beat ya' to it. I'm half way done already!!!! Heck, even Boston Bruins Goalie Tim Thomas talked about already reading it. You got some catchin' up ta do!
Man, these numbers do not look good. And every other poll has the two tied at 47%. Not good for a sitting POTUS
How come Rachel Maddow's charts don't reflect these truths???????? Hers are always so wacky. She's gotta get a new "etch a sketch" or something.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Mitt Romney attracting 47% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 44%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. Platinum Members can see detailed demographic and other information daily.
Voters see a clear choice between Romney and Obama on the health care issue but are not convinced that the economy will improve no matter who's elected president in November. Just 32% believe the economy will get better if Obama is reelected, while 36% say the same about a Romney victory.

Republicans hold a three-point advantage on the Generic Congressional Ballot.
Voters strongly support an extension of the Bush tax cuts but are evenly divided over whether they should be extended for all Americans or just for those who earn less than $250,000 a year. Two-out-of-three Americans believe the nation is already overtaxed. Most believe raising taxes hurts the economy. Fifty-one percent (51%) believe taxes will go up if the president is reelected, compared to 31% who expect higher taxes if Romney wins.
Additionally, 66% believe the government should cut spending to help the economy. Most voters doubt that spending will be cut regardless of who wins the White House.
Half (49%) favor a proposal that would prevent federal, state and local governments combined from taking more than 30% of anyone’s income in taxes. Thirty percent (30%) are opposed.
(Presidential Job Approval Data Below)
A president’s Job Approval rating is one of the best indicators for assessing his chances of reelection. Typically, the president’s Job Approval rating on Election Day will be close to the share of the vote he receives. Currently, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) at least somewhat disapprove (see trends).
New numbers on the health care law show that 53% of voters nationwide still favor repeal of the health care law. In his weekly newspaper column, Scott Rasmussen notes that the health care plans put forth by the president and Republican Congressman Paul Ryan are both unpopular because “no one wants their health care choices being made by government officials, insurance companies or their employer. People want to make those important decisions themselves.” He adds, “Putting consumers in charge would require pretty radical change, but it's the type of change voters could support.
Looking to the Electoral College swing states, Obama leads in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Romney leads in North Carolina and Missouri. The race is a toss-up in Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, Florida and Colorado.
(Approval Index data below)
Intensity of support or opposition can have an impact on campaigns. Currently, 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18 (see trend)During midterm elections, intensity of support can have a tremendous impact on turnout.

Attacking reproductive healthcare rights has become a primary objective on the state and federal level. If Democrats don't recognize the design of this policy then much more will be at stake than access to a single clinic in Mississippi. That injustice has already occurred and attempts to resist anti-abortion policy in the courts will only further erode the freedom of choice. Republicans are not stupid. A defeat for them would be to uphold the obviously unconstitutional legislation on the state level. Because any minor victory that Democrats may perceive in district courts only plays into the hands of the republicans. The goal is not to eliminate abortion in any individual state, but to overturn Roe vs. Wade itself through the appeals process. They are consciously creating unconstitutional legislation in the states in an effort to end the freedom of choice on the national level. If Democrats don't wake up and employ their efforts elsewhere then they will loose.
