Doesn't R. Paul say everthing republicans want to hear, and he's honest?? No differnce policy wise,, right??
I'll bet there's a one to one correlation between voter turnout and many measures of the public's intelectual laziness.
His first name is Wiliard not Mitt please use his first name when referring to Williard Mitt Romney; do it from now on please and I will love you forever; just kidding but please use his first name all the time; only the Rev Al has picked up on this why don't the rest of you guys?
Ever hear of Henry "Scoop" Jackson? Many people, myself included, prefer nicknames over our real given names.
Wiiliam "Moose" Skowron, Yelberton Abraham (Y.A.) Tittle, Derek "Turk" Sanderson, Orentho James (O.J.) Simpson, Al "Sparky" Lyle, Richard Micheal "Goose" Gossage, James "Catfish" Hunter, Carl "Spider" Lockhart, Carl "Yaz" Yazstremski, George "Boomer " Scott and so on. A lot of both politicians and athletes use nicknames as their primary names as it appears Alfred does as well. Umm, I mean "Al". How about George Herman, BABE Ruth.
Pee Wee Reese, Wee Wiilie Keller anyone who wishes You think John Wayne's name was really John Wayne???? Why not vilify John Wayne and Babe Ruth???
Ask Reverand Alfred "Al" Sharpton about Twana Brawley. It was so right about that story too. Who cares????? He's just afraid that Mitt Romney is a "Blueberry pie faced N@zi". hahahahahahahaha No more than was George Herman...................
Babe Ruth.
You people are grasping at straws. Why?
Because you have nothing positive to say about your candidate. He's has been a major failure. Great job with the economy Prez. With speeches like the one he gave last Friday "You didn't do it alone" Marxist crap, it's no wonder we're losers around the world. "Somebody helped you along the way" You all get participation trophys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Mr President but ONLY 52% of us are paying taxes in this country and your trophy collectors are claiming to have added to or contributed just by collecting on their EBT cards and getting on "the roads we all built" and enjoying the internet "the government started" and collecting on their welfare checks & medical benefits WE ALL PAID FOR!
80,000 jobs created in June 2012 85,000 new enrollees onto Disability Benefits thru SSI in the same month. Yaaaaa, great job creating jobs! How's that Solyndra plant working out for us? How about that 29 Billion dollars you've sent outsourced over seas from the "Stimulus Plan"?? Where's MY bonus from the recent successes at GM?
The heck with the 99% how about the "52%ters"!
Barack Hussain "Major Failure" Obama.
Geeeeeeeeeeeez. You guys all have "blueberry pie" on your faces!!!!
@Irish
Over the weekend I got into a rather "spirited" debate about what counts as a troll and what, if any, value there was in responding to their posts. Apparently, I am excruciatingly tolerant.
Anyway - realizing it is a waste of time - and only to give my counter-opinions in case a reasonable person makes the same points and wants to have a discussion:
I agree - people should be referred to by their commonly accepted nicknames, unless it is their mother - "Willard Mitt Romney! Behave!!!"
"You didn't do it alone" Marxist crap - might actually be Marxist crap if that was what President Obama or Elizabeth Warren actually meant or - more importantly - actually said in context!
Quick question on that point: When a business is looking for a location for a new factory, do they look for a nice piece of vacant inaccessible land out in the middle of nowhere? Of Course not!! They pick a place that already has roads, electricity, sewers, (railroad or port if their business needs it), security (no high-crime neighborhoods), local labor that has the skills they need, and a good quality of life for their executives who will be moving in. Why do they do this? Because their new factory will not be successful if they have to build all of the infrastructure by themselves (or maintain it all by themselves) - from scratch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The "52%" - historically, the number of households (reporting units) that do not pay taxes is around 40%. It is higher now because so many people are un-employed or under-employed. (The number also includes the elderly and disabled). Some of the recent tax cuts have also benefited the low-wage earners.
Yes the number of new jobs added is disappointing. But if you go to the data, job growth now is very similar to job growth since the last recession - in 2001. Sad but true. The problem is we are trying to get out of a very big hole.
And finally:
"Where's MY bonus from the recent successes at GM?" Your "bonus" is that the economy that you live in didn't totally IMPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clarification: job growth now is very similar to job growth in the 2000's after recovery from the 2001 recession and the beginning of the Great Recession in 2007.
My little sister is able to stay on her dad's health insurance as she goes to college. She can afford to go to college due to lower student loan rates.
My late grandmother could have benefitted from the closure of the doughnut hole to afford her medications. As it is, she died before the ACA was passed due to those private health insurance death panels that won't pay for chemotherapy. Apparently she deserved to die because she couldn't afford to live.
I see signs everywhere, when I'm driving through road construction, that the improvements are funded by the stimulus act. I've seen these signs in South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. I see less congestion and pot holes in those roads when the construction has finished.
And the President endorsed repealing DOMA. That has absolutely no bearing on you, but it makes me feel like I matter, that our President cares about my personal well-being.
Despite my criticisms of our President, these are a couple of positive marks that I attribute to him over, say, our filibustering Congress. And they are, to me, very important positive marks that I do not see the Republican side is going to revere if they gain more power.
These are my opinions, this is my viewpoint, I do not expect you to agree. But since you asked for positive actions our President Obama has taken, I felt obliged to inform you.

Good Morning maphi, I hope you are well.
I would continue to contend, having in another post yesterday, that comparative study of the exact words expressed from the President's speech on Friday (Full Text) and the other being Chapter 32 section 1 I think of Das Kapital the phrasiology maybe different but the meaning is the same. I strongly disagree with your synopsis. I believe the speeches Warren and Obama gave were near one in the same and both reeked of Marxist sentiment & value. I do know that many others have the same or similar evaluation as I do.
One of my contentions would be that we all benefit from roads, trains, modes of transportation, education ect ect. The factory owner the business man/woman or partners are not somehow exclusively indebted to our engenuity and the product of the industrial revolution. Everyone profits from the programs that created this great nation. To single out the entrepenour and suggest that they have greater need to be grateful is absurd. I understood that to be the messages of Warren & Obama. Again, echoes of pure Marxist rhetoric.
Some people are capable of doing it on their own. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Zuckermann, Walt Disney, Sam Walton, John Huntsman Sr... the list goes on. They all appreciated what we all do a freedom to embrace the fruits of our history. What I am saying is that roads, bridges , railways and all are generic. They benefit all of us. Nobody personally owes their success to that dimension. No one. Not me as a worker not the successful businessman.
I have listened to Warren's speech several times, I listened to Obama's just the same way, often. They speak the same language and it's Marxist to me. It is almost quoting Marx verbatum. An it undermines the hard work some of these business owners devote. Not everyone is willing to work 20 hr days (day and night) to start up or maintain a small or flourishing venture. These people are! They deserve credit not some excoriating demeaning talking to by President Obama. In my opinion he has once again proven he has no respect for business big or small. No respect for the intense labor many of them put into their factory or business. They alone took gigantic risks, and fail many did. All the roads and all the bridges and trains aren't going to save those who have failed. And all this coming from a man who never so much as ran and operated a Lemonade Stand! He was a "Community Organizer". What's he know about running a business? Please don't tell me he's running the country's business because he S*CKS at it.
Das Kapital XXXII Section I
The creation of a normal working-day is, therefore, the product of a protracted civil war, more or less dissembled, between the capitalist class and the working-class... It must be acknowledged that our labourer comes out of the process of production other than he entered. In the market he stood as owner of the commodity "labour-power" face to face with other owners of commodities, dealer against dealer. The contract by which he sold to the capitalist his labour-power proved, so to say, in black and white that he disposed of himself freely. The bargain concluded, it is discovered that he was no "free agent," that the time for which he is free to sell his labour-power is the time for which he is forced to sell it, that in fact the vampire will not lose its hold on him "so long as there is a muscle, a nerve, a drop of blood to be exploited." For "protection" against "the serpent of their agonies," the labourers must put their heads together, and, as a class, compel the passing of a law, an all-powerful social barrier that shall prevent the very workers from selling, by voluntary contract with capital, themselves and their families into slavery and death. In place of the pompous catalogue of the "inalienable rights of man" comes the modest Magna Charta of a legally limited working-day, which shall make clear "when the time which the worker sells is ended, and when his own begins. Quantum mutatus ab illo![How changed from what he/it was!]"[33]
But the communist revolution does not end with the negation of individual liberty and equality ("collectivism"[34]), but with the "negation of the negation": "individual property" in the capitalist regime is in fact the "expropriation of the immediate producers." "Self-earned private property, that is based, so to say, on the fusing together of the isolated, independent laboring-individual with the conditions of his labor, is supplanted by capitalistic private property, which rests on exploitation of the nominally free labor of others, i.e., on wage-labor... The capitalist mode of appropriation, the result of the capitalist mode of production, produces capitalist private property. This is the first negation of individual private property, as founded on the labor of the proprietor. But capitalist production begets, with the inexorability of a law of Nature, its own negation. It is the negation of negation. This does not re-establish private property for the producer, but gives him individual property based on the acquisition of the capitalist era: i.e., on co-operation and the possession in common of the land and of the means of production.[
In his book The Gods of Atheism Fr Vincent Micelli writes extensively about the correlating theories which modern day man embraces in which to "fundementally transform" our system/society into a mirror of Marx, Hegal & Nietzsche styled governemntal and religious bodies. This speech as was Ms Warrens (social contract-Rosseau) are inextricably interwoven.
Lastly your argument is pure Obama speak. My bonus is the the economy didnot completely explode. We were in such a deep hole. His policies have FAILED. He has FAILED. It's NOT Bush's economy now, it's Obama's. Everything the man touches turns to poop. He sucks at the job. Many have accused him of being business person unfriendly. They were Right. He is.
All due respect, please allow me to disagree with you entirely about the speeches by Ms Warren and now echoed by President Obama.
People disagree that the planet Earth is a sphere, so you can continue to disagree about Obama being a Marxist. But saying it doesn't make it so, and simply slapping a label on something you disagree with is fundamentally and logically flawed as a means of dealing with it.
I am not accountable for foolish people who think the earth is a sphere. We all know it's flat! Anyone can witness the Sun going over the cliff every night. As it completes it's orbit around the earth. hahahahahahahaha Hope you appreciate humor.
I watch what the man says. What do his policies indicate.
Attack the Church, remove religious freedom. HHS Mandate.
Attack individual freedom liberty and demean business. Listen to what he says.
Attack certain classes of people (the rich as though that is a filthy four letter word) He is the great divider. He's vilified Fox News, Sgt Crowley and the Boston Police, rich weathly people and rather than go on simply put anyone who disagrees with him.
And his recent policy changes, Immigration Policy Enforcement and Reversal of Welfare Reform Act instituted during the Clinton Admin are acts predicated by fiat.
These are just small incrimental examples that can be expounded on. But they all reflect a pattern that has all the appearances of a model, Marxism. He and people like Warren adopt verbage used solely by socialist. He surrounds himself with likeminded people (Van Jones) (Anita Dunn) countless visits with SEIU President and now Czar with the Obama Admin., Andy Stern. His most ardent supporter/backer through media and research and politics is George Soros. It's like a universal "who's who" of contemporary modernist-socialist-Marxist. The list is just a fragment. James Wallis, Bill Ayers, Francis Fox Piven and a media outlet MSNBC whose hosts gather at the White House in recent months(Maddow Schultz and O'Donnell a self admitted "socialist") to discuss "re-election campaign stategy. Media Matters, The Slate, NY Times, Mother Jones, Salon and every extreme or nominal left progressive media outlet. Which is a propoganda machine..............
I invite a friend over to watch the Yankees Red Sox game. He comes to my house wearing a Red Sox hat, shirt and saying he's brought over some Fenway Franks to grill..................... I am guessing he's NOT a Yankees fan like me. You think that's "fundementally & logically flawed"????????? Because it's the same thing.
All due respect. I disagree.
Bill Gates started Microsoft in his garage.
Zuckermann started Facebook in his dorm room.
Case in point!
Your examples mean nothing in the context of the discussion.
Would Bill Gates or Zuckerberg have been as wildly successful as they are if they lived by themselves on a deserted island?
We have a society (economic and political institutions) that allows individuals the freedom to be creative and inventive, and then to profit from their ideas and protects their property rights. (If you have started to read "Why Nations Fail" this will sound familiar).
We also have a society where we all (individuals and businesses) have the responsibility to work together - and contribute as we are able. Yes - this is "community" and in no way equates with "communism" or "marxist socialism".
This country was founded on two ideals - individual liberty and community -(E. Pluribus Unum {Out of Many, One}). There is a tension between these and we must always try to find for a balance. [Our Divided Political Heart - E.J.Dionne]
Babe Ruth started his career in the backyard of an orphanage being pitched to by a Catholic Priest. Yes the priest helped, but the priest didn't hit 714 Hoome Runs. Babe Ruth and Babe Ruth alone hit those home runs. It was Babe Ruth alone who became the greatest player in the history of the game of baseball.
Many business people are the same way. They started out with nothiing, just like most of us. But they and they alone had something special inside, some special gift which enabled them to succeed at incredible ventures. And for some, Mother Teresa with only TWO cents to her name, completed more than anyone could ever imagine. How much did the gvernment any government contribute to Mother Teresa? NONE. Or are you going to say "India, Calcutta with it's dirt roads, and trains and hospitals and schools and bridges and Police....................." No she did it ALONE. Yes there are people like that in America. There always has been.
Babe Ruth did not invest baseball, he just played it well. Sure, he hit lots of home runs, but he did that after growing up in a free country and being given the blessings of liberty. He paid his taxes without whining about it too.
Mother Teresa no doubt had something special, but then again, she had the Catholic Church to provide a framework for her charitable actions. Absent the infrastructure of the Catholic Church she's just another do-gooder with great ideas.
You can't separate out the individual from the system and say it's only the individual. I've made a lot of money as a successful lawyer, but it was because I had a lot of help along the way from good lawyers who mentored me, and good judges who knew and understood the law. Absent a justice system, I could never have won a case, and my client and I did not pay for that justice system, everyone did. I am not the only person who deserves to take pride in my accomplishments. That was Obama's point, and that's what the ME ME ME Republicans want to forget. They want to make it possible for the obscenely wealthy people to stay obscenely wealthy so they can fund their campaign of lies and disinformation.
The point of these examples is that there is such a thing as individual excellence where by given only the same tools as everyone else in a given society (ie infrastructure community soppurt from the system) some people accomplish things no one else ever could. America does not condemn such people. But a Marxist ideology does demean such individual achievements and seeks to destroy its base.
That's what I hear in Obama & or Warren's words. You are nothing special. You are nothing great. Without Gov't you never would have succeeded.
All lawyers have the same fundementa system to work with and through. But very very few are as well known or successful as was F Lee Bailey. Some people are just individually the best of the best. America REWARDS that, Marxism deflects or negates or ridicules that.
The community aspect devouring the individual. That's why we were all amazed when the single man stood his ground against the tank (only emblematic for what it stood for) at Tiananmen Square in 1989. An individual who can somehow eclipse for a moment in time, the community. And in America, that is what makes America great. Only one George Washington, one Babe Ruth, one Walt Disney, you name the next........................... larger than life figure.
The President gives me the impression that his is a campaign of ENVY. Class Warfare. Structures upon which Marxism is built. And his words, almost verbatum, feflect nothing different. Unadulterated Marxism.
That guy I thought was a Red Sox fan??? I am convinced now. He just stormed outta of the house after the Yankees took a 7-0 lead in the 6th inning on a grand slam by Nick Swisher. I was right, he IS a Red Sox fan.
Geez, it's amazing how these Republicans carp about "plaintiff's lawyers" and how outrageous it is to pay one for a class action settlement, and yet they'll hand over $1.6 million without blinking an eye to one of their crony lawyers because (1) the attorney-client privilege essentially shields the violation of the FCPA; and (2) there is no legal way to do the deals they want to do without help from people like this.
Republican hypocrisy should not amaze me, but it still does.

Here's my version of what's to come,,,. Some kind of disaster. It may or may not kill millions/billions/all of us. There are 10 different scenarios or combinations thereof that are plausible. Volcanism, tsunamis, plagues, asteroid hits, droughts, etc. etc. We may have 2 years, we may have 20... Hi ho, hi ho,, let's stop spending all our extra money on killing each other and prepare instead for the bad things "nature" has in store. Let's get into space! Let's decentralize farming! Protect our ground waters... Too late for our fisheries.... The twenty year plan... I want my granddaughter (see picture above left) to see her twenty second birthday... The first step of the plan is to decide if I want to alienate my neaghbors or enlist them... If WE decide to work together (socialism) then, perhaps, we/government could best do all we need to do by realizing that government can create value (bridges, jobs, etc.) without borrowing to do so. Print money. No more need for taxes. The rich can only spend the money they get on themselves, no war/emergency profiteering. And, let us hope we have 20 years...
