Senate Democrats propose letting all the Bush tax cuts expire.

I like the idea of letting the temporary Bush tax rates expire for two big reasons:
rachel, the Jon Stewart interview was perfect. I hope you understood what he was said about focusing on corruption. did you?
I am unsure why Amendment 64 in Colorado is getting no play from anyone at MSNBC. Want to turn out the youth vote in a swing state, start talking about re-legalizing marijuana and hemp. I hear mention of how critical Colorado may be, but I see very little coverage on MSNBC. Coincidence? We need the info out there now so people have time to register to vote and yet MSNBC seems to be passing on this slam dunk. Confounded. Corporate masters?
Kudos on saying "re-legalizing." It's not a perfect term, but it helps point out that drug prohibition is not something that's been in place since the dawn of time, and removing prohibitions would be eliminating an activist program, not installing a new one.
Coincidence? Corporate Masters?
More likely it's that this is a state referrendum more than 3 months out from Election Day with no ripples nationally.
It seems to me that you'd have a better chance of convincing a news organization to cover your cause if you spent some words showing how it's newsworthy instead of insinuating a conspiracy. It puts people on the defensive (because now they have to defend the decision not to put pot in the A block) which makes them even more resilient to your point.
If either of the two campaigns were discussing marijuana legislation (or even if it came up in the course of Olympic coverage again) then maybe it would be an oversight - but I think you'll find you get more attention by helpfully adding this to the conversation instead of criticizing its absence.
I say let them expire! That way republicans can no longer say "OBAMA extended them". If republicans object to a temp cut for the middle class, they will be responsible for it.
yes, let them expire...start from scratch with this congress, and let them be the ones to raise taxes on the 98% of regular americans....and then, they will lower them, and it won't be a tax hike on anyones watch
time for work and pay taxes so ppl on here can rent the basement from mommy+daddy get welfare play on here 24/7 with the dial-up that mommy+daddy pay for

Please, spare me. You couldn't hold the end of my tape measure, never mind lift my tool belt, sonny. So step aside while the grown-ups try to clean up the mess left by years of failed policy, dictated to BOTH parties by Wall St.
Your little Teabag cry of "Get a job and pay taxes!" reveals the self deception you operate in. The working middle class has been eroded by the ignorance of people like you.
You greatly under-value your self-worth by taking such a bold stand on the side of greedy bankers and their political lap dogs.
as long as the elite teacher corps is actually TEACHERS, people who have spent time and a lot of money to study education, the psychology of learning, the understanding of the importance of TEACHING critical thinking skills instead of teaching to the test of random facts that are memorized for a test. Let the Teachers be the professionals they have studied to become....stop insinuating that anyone can be a teacher....college professors, with phd's in their field are often terrible teachers who don't know how to compose a VALID test....they have no background or education IN education, unless they are education professors....we wouldn't let a dentist do brain surgery. we shouldn't be willing to let a business major teach biochemistry
All RIGHT! I've clearly not been paying my fair share of attention here!

The Romney campaign takes the gloves off...to reveal soft, finely manicured hands.

Last night all of a sudden, all MSNBC news shows became unavailable on my Mac. Anything up? Changes in access? Forced subscription? As a retired public employee, my pension is extremely tiny and since they do not allow anyone over 65 to receive dental care or food stamps (Really, I am not kidding! Even though we are the most powerful voting block, we have apparently just rolled over.), there is literally nothing left to finance activism, so I hope this is not the case. Kristina
All of a sudden, I could not get MSNBC programs on my Mac. Is this a change or a tactic to force paid subscription? I hope not as I represent a population that cannot afford to pay subscriptions but I am an activist who does not hesitate to take action, even though I do not have a lot of money. I am a retired public employee on a tiny pension. Your public would probably be interested in knowing that despite the fact that we are the largest voting block in the country, our rights and services have been eliminated to the point of nonexistence. We are not allowed to get food stamps and there is NO HEALTH CARE INSURANCE OF ANY KIND. It ends when you turn 65. I just turned 65 and am shocked by what the public has allowed to happen to our seniors!!!! I'm pretty sure others are ignorant of these harsh facts. Kristina
RoMoney wants to take off the gloves. Bring it on. They say Obama was "smoking something" - kind of normal really. I know some folks who "smoked something" too!
On the other hand, RoMoney dressed up like a State Trooper, put a flashing light on his car and pulled people over on the highway, bullied classmates and forcefully administered a haircut. Normal? Not so much. Pranks - more like crimes.
Now we find that he lies constantly and doesn't seem to care or even realized that these lies are captured on tape and, apparently, in "ink" by the SEC. While that seems to be a normal progression from impersonating an officer and bullying classmates, I wouldn't classify it as "normal" mature adult behavior and certainly is not what I want in my "employee." Has anyone informed RoMoney that if he succeeds in becoming POTUS, that he works for We, the People - not the other way round? It doesn't seem that he gets it.
Considering what has come out so far, there has to be much, much more to come. Ding, Ding, Round 1!!!
I will be voting for Obama (again!).....can't wait!!! On a lighter note....used to be a"news junkie".....but I don't (can't) watch any news in the last few months....even my favorite MSNBC who I consider "family!"......makes me crazy!
LOVE HBO'S "Newsroom"......Jeff Daniels rocks!!! Listen to POTUS on XM in the car!
Just my humble opinon!
Just realized what is missing. KINDNESS does not seem a part of Romney or the GOP.
