DeNero says that NY State built the "First trade route to the West". "We built the first skyscrapers" No you/we didn't New York. Govenment did that. What, "There are plenty of smart people out there". "There arer lots of hard working people out there". "You, you NY did not do that". You would ONLY New Yorkers are smart or seat and worked hard, they got help from the US Gov't along the way.
Then the blashamy, "WE (NY) pushed the country forward". Hey, that's Obama's campaign slogan! "Forward" Then of all things, DeNero says to close the ad, "Businesses lead the World" enough. NO government leads the world.
All this in step with Jay Z's Empire State of Mind playing in the background gaining tempo as the ad continues.
President Obama has got to get this ad to stop running. It's worse than the Jack Gilchrist ad for Romney.
No NY State, "you did not build that!"
Why is everyone talking like this now that its too late to save much of the commons? I mean I understand and empathize and whatever, but I have seen this meme a lot in the past few weeks and I can't recognize where it came from... The Warren video is months old and Thom Hartmann has been especially good at ranting about the commons being co-opted by big business.
Your mouth needs to stop running.
Interesting response from Chick-fil-a regarding my comment to their CEO's vocal comments regarding GAY MARRIAGE:
Dear Customer:
The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 Restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.
Chick-fil-A is a family-owned and family-led company serving the communities in which it operates. From the day Truett Cathy started the company, he began applying biblically-based principles to managing his business. For example, we believe that closing on Sundays, operating debt-free and devoting a percentage of our profits back to our communities are what make us a stronger company and Chick-fil-A family.
Our mission is simple: to serve great food, provide genuine hospitality and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.
Sincerely,
Timothy

in other words--Our "mission" is to make a profit so of course we try to avoid infusing our religious bigotry in our stores. However we are bigots because we believe good Christians should be bigots. I mean just because Christ yapped about love and called a Samaritan a GOOD Samaritan or just because he was telling us he lives within us all when he stated "I was the man on the road , I was the woman at the door" does not mean he meant "those" people!!!
Petitions/ End Bush Tax Cuts and a few other good ones!

Off topic here, so forgive me, but where is Rachel? Seems every time I tune in now I'm either watching the Ezra Klein show (NOT a good show btw) or worse, the Melissa Harris Perry show. Hope Rachel is okay and I'm looking forward to having her back where she belongs!
I wasn't at all nice when I left a comment for Bill Wolff on July 20. It has to sting when a fan delivers a stack of criticism the like of which I laid on Mr. Wolff, and I'm sure it had at least some small impact. I still don't have any compliments for Bill, but I've seen some significant differences in the (four?) segments he's done since then. Whether or not these differences were in some way prompted by my criticism, I feel I should acknowledge my perception that things may have improved.
First and foremost, Bill's delivery has been much more snappy. He still looks tired and unkempt, but he also appears to have some idea what he's going to say, and he's more clever about saying it. In short, it looks like he wrote a script beforehand, or at very least, a rough outline.
Second, Bill seems to be addressing the 'intern question' that I raised. Bravo. Good for you and these young folks getting their start in the broadcasting business. Hurray for free pizza Fridays.
Finally, Bill's recent segments have contained some worthwhile content, presented in an interesting fashion, that enhanced the overall value of the show. I hope to see him continue to, "Pull the curtain aside and show some of the magic behind the scenes."
Mr. Wolff, you still have no screen presence whatsoever. Even when you do your best, the only saving grace for your segment will be interesting content. I've appreciated these last few pieces, and I hope you keep it up.

Dear Mr. Wolff,
Please allow me to add a woman's touch to Mr. Cabernoch's observations.
Unkempt is the new sexy. Wear the stubble. Be the stubble. Rock the stubble.
Respectfully submitted,
MG
Is this another full week without Rachel?
Someone needs to bring up the similarity between GOP's religious based policies over society, government, and especially women's reproductive health and those of the Taliban. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to see what the two organizations have in common.
