Can we please start using the term "Romney tax filings" rather than returns? Because in the weird world of Romney, there is a huge difference.
For all we know Romney has a lot more than $250 million and could have been participating in securities activities that are relevant to his suitability as an elected official. His FBAR (Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts report) required by the IRS would reveal that, and indicate where any additional income came from.
This is not a form required as part of a tax return. But it is a required tax filing form. The IRS requires, under pain of serious fines or imprisonment- that anyone with more than 10K in a foreign account must disclose their activities outside the US with an FBAR.
Is it relevant? Sure- there is a reason the IRS is adamant that US citizens file these, because otherwise much could be hidden from them. Isn't the US voter also entitled to know the full extent of a US presidential candidate's foreign financial interests? What if an elected official had some financial instruments that were betting against the values of bonds of US municipalities? Even if it was managed by a blind trust, there is a legitimate question why he did not bar any such speculation.
I am curious- I know Senators are required to disclose financial interests. Are they required to disclose their FBARs? Is any elected official required to disclose them?
If not, why not. Are there any legitimate reasons for not disclosing, or are there only the reasons that cynics might imagine?
I think he is a liar, and a cheat and probably does not even know to acknowledge it. For a mormon he is very light in the conscience, and I think the guy grew up believing that there were rules for others but no really consistent rules for me be cause don't ya know, I am just special. A.F,
With the young man supposedly committing suicide in a police car, how can police officers miss if someone still has a gun on himself? That is a very potentially dangerous situation that someone is left with a gun in a police car. You would think police officers are much more careful than that and check people over before they are arrested. Something sure just doesn’t sound right with that whole picture.
