We know you do! The deadline is fast approaching, so apply now.
We are seeking interns for the Fall 2012 semester. Candidates must:
- Receive college or grad school credit for the semester
- Be at least a sophomore in college
- Be able to commute to New York City at least 3 times/week
Candidates should have an interest in politics and journalism. Political dorks and policy wonks are welcome (and encouraged!) to apply. If you have a knack for research, we’ll probably get along well.
Please email us your resume by attaching it as a Word document. Also, be sure to copy + paste the resume into the email body.
Include a short paragraph (fewer than 150 words) about why you are interested in interning for the show.
Deadline: Wednesday, August 8, 2012
Email: rachel@msnbc.com

You guys still haven't replied back to those who can't commute to New York that often (unless travel charges are covered).
I'm interested in helping out as well...
I'm 51. I would love to be an intern, but I actually need to get paid for my work. Not an option. Wish it was!
What about college grads with political science degrees???
I want to do this more than almost anything else in the world, if only I could be able to make it to NYC 3 times a week. This makes me honestly sad...
Sadly, at my advanced age, I need reimbursement for the schlep to NYC and my time spent researching, writing, making coffee, or whatever the show needs. I enjoy TRMS, would love to contribute and hope she is able to stay on the air, unfortunately I'm in no position to underwrite it with my private fortune. I'd do it for $20/hour, a little less if I found a friend in NYC to room with, no joke. Also, I make a serious cup of coffee, so serious in fact that she'd have to replace cocktail hour with coffee hour.
All of you should email Rachel with your questions. She/they probably won't respond to this here.
What happened to the posting of the Aug 2nd show? I knew I should have kept it on my DVR. There were some Highly charged accusations about Mitt Romney and his voting and taxes and I can't remember what all. I just remember it was a nice little list I wanted to keep. I knew it would be on the website and it wasn't. Did someone come after you guys? Just give us some bull@!$%# reason why you can't post it and we'll know someone came after you.
Hi, aicram62 --
There's an indirect way to get at the 8/2/2012 show's segments.
From this maddowblog page, click on "missed the show?" in the far right column. Once the new window comes up with the latest show, scroll down the second column from the far left to the pix of Gene Robinson. Click and sit back. At least as of 2230h on 7 August, I've been able to re-view what seems to be the whole show. Ssshh!
This would be a phenomenal opportunity, pity I live in the United Kingdom.
*sigh*
Planet RMS? Hey, did someone borrow my "Planet Utah" bit of shinola?
No way are any of you as out there as this place. Seriously.
I can appreciate the unpaid internship, however as a former county planning director who hired interns for more than 20 years, paying them a reasonable stipend, usually around $3000 for a 12 week internship in todays dollars. The stipend was an acknowledgement of the value of their work to the agency, between 1985 and 2007 my budget preparation always included "contract" employment of 8-10 interns for 12 week periods using the same general criteria you used. One of the benefits of the program I ran was that at least 1/2 of the interns, upon their graduation, decided to go into public service and usually at least one a year was hired by my agency for an entry level position with their performance during their internship being the deciding factor. Several of those I hired as interns are now planning directors in their own right, it is one of my most productive professional accomplishments....leaving a professional legacy that one can take pride in through those you hired and trained.
Do you take crazy people? I'll work for free, and most likely will do a great job...I have a record of that. I just don't relate with people very well, and people always look at me funny. So, now I don't go anywhere without my dog. Don't worry, Pollyanna is super well trained, is a lab/border collie mix, who brings joy wherever she goes. I think I'll actually apply...I hope you're all open minded! What am I saying??! Of course you're open minded, IT'S THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW!!!!
