Remember the Voyager Space Probe? Launched in 1977 as a message in a bottle to possible life in other solar systems. It carries recordings and images of life on Earth and an interstellar map pointing the way back here. (It was also featured in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.)
After flying through space for 35 years...
Indications are that it's reaching the edge of the solar system.
Space is really, really big.
Voyager also got an oblique reference in Jeff Bridges "Starman" (1984), when he sings "Satisfaction"- a Stones tune not actually included on that golden 'message in a bottle'.
More trivia: Prudes in Space-
After NASA had received criticism over the nudity on the Pioneer plaque (line drawings of a naked man and woman), the agency chose not to allow Sagan and his colleagues to include a photograph of a nude man and woman on the record. Instead, only a silhouette of the couple was included
Also, remember Voyager was the "star" of the first Star Trek motion picture - it obtained artificial intelligence and called itself "Vger" because the O and Y and A letters were burned off or obscured from it's "body". :)
GET DOWN Mme. Secretary! Hillary's got some moooooves!

Right to pray and stay dumb as a rock-" Says students need not take part in assignments or presentations that violate their religious beliefs. "

Re: Right to Pray Amendment. Last I checked, one can pray anywhere, anytime. Since when do you need a law to pray? You don't *have* to pray in a big group in a public place. Seems like God would want us to concentrate on things like, say...feeding the poor? Showing compassion toward others? Rather than trying to get laws passed to do what we should be doing anyway and what we always have the "right" to do. Jesus made His views loud and clear about people who pray for show.
Surprisingly to some here, I agree. The modern Christian faith as a whole in the US has become much too political, almost "taking from Caesar." I heard a message recently that said when people of faith try to leverage anything other than love, they fail.
God is first about love. As Jesus stated in summing up the law, "love God" and "love others." While there are still many who do things that give evidence to this love, sadly we fall so short, huh?
Amendment 2 also includes language like
Evolution? Nay, nay. Climate Change? Begone. Yeah, humans held dinosaur races on Noah's ark. I believe that right here in my heart (heart..., heart..., heart).
Repeat after me, students: "You want fries with that?".
At least the lawyers have job security.
In other words a formula for willful ignorance. And people may wonder why America is becoming so far behind in math and science worldwide.
1. Hillary can run the State Dept. and boogey too; terrific!
2. Had to drive through Missouri in 1968, and it scared me; now I know why. There will be some dark forces working against Sen. McKaskell in the coming months.
The Right To Pray Amendment is pernicious in so many ways. Anyone has the right to pray in this country, even in schools, if it's a personal, purely indvidual action. RTPA assumes an utterly contrived injury or danger (curtailment of personal religious freedoms) so it can allow the dominant religious group (Christians) to force everyone else to accomodate their particular religious beliefs under the guise of exercising their religious freedoms. Christian extremist say they're being denied their religious freedoms when government institutions have winter holidays celebrations rather than Christmas celebrations, or only allow songs like Frosty The Snowman instead of Silent Night. They assume that their diety is the only diety, their theology the only valid theology, so that not allowing them to pervade over governmet functions is an infringement of their rights. (Extremists of any religion do the same thing, by the way, Taliban being only one example)
I was almost going to suggest that Jewish high school students grow beards, wear hats in class, and say the various food prayers in the cafeteria. Better yet, get some muslims to pray in front of some Missouri court house during Ramadan. It would expose what the RTPA was really about, but it might endanger the non-Christians exercising their right to pray.
I was surprised to hear Terence Henry tell Rachel that the Texas earthquakes were not necessarily due to fracking, but to injection wells. Aren't these wells used to get rid of waste water created by fracking. Did I miss something here?!?
If we picked Hillary back in 08', we could have danced our way to prosperity, instead we settled for mediocrity. How I wish we could return back to the boom days of the Clinton Era, when anyone could become a millionaire overnight and achieve the American dream.
That was all done with a higher tax rate Silly Cindy.
...and a congress that actually did something once in a while.
Well, besides naming post offices, pretending to ban abortion, pretending to repeal Obamacare, pretending to reform welfare...
Great, I didn't hear about the right to pray horse-feces until today. Gawd knows they need a special righty-tighty to pray in WI, they haven't got a prayer otherwise. Why wont Christians go to heaven already?!
Just poppin' by with a li'l reminder, y'all: DNFTT!
Last night's segment on fracking was top notch.
