This is why we'll never see a Reagan/Mondale landslide "in reverse" where the Democrat wins 49 states. Because no matter how bad the Republican candidate is, some Red States will never vote Blue (until the Demographics change.) They are total ideologues (eg: those early debate clips where Gingrich, rather than admit a mistake, doubled-down on his offensive remarks as if to show he denied there was anything offensive about them.)
According to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 certain areas needed to obtain the approval of the Attorney General before making changes to voting requirements or procedures. Why are states now able to change requirements without approval? I Swear, the republicans have just repackaged the Jim Crow laws of the past. Is this what they mean by taking the country back?
